For those of you unfamiliar with the series, Devil May Cry is an Action/Adventure game created by Capcom made back in 2001, and was released in for the PS2. Strangely enough, US PS2 owners got to play it first as it was released there. The main franchise revolves around a trash-talking, cocky half-devil named Dante (named after the Greek poet) who hunts demons for a living and is one of the twin sons of the all power Legendary Dark Knight Sparda. He is most recognizible for his nearly red attire, which always varies in games, but always ends up wearing the same color scheme. He also wields to mirroring handguns named Ebony and Ivory, and his trusty sword, Rebellion. (Though the first game has him using Alastor) The franchise is most famous for its difficult and spectacular and innovative gameplay. Dante's abilities allow him to fight off multiple opponents using various Devil Arms (melee weapons) and weapons. Dante himself has superstrentgh and excellent stamina, able to withstand G-forces and recover quickly from being impaled. Another important aspect of Dante is his Devil Trigger, which allows him to utilize his demonic energy and transform himself. His form in DT various between Devil Arms. Because of its popularity, DMC received a sequel in DMC 2. However, the majority of the fans call it a stud as it was much easier than the previous installment and hadn't really revolved much around Dante, but the new protaganist, Lucia, also a half-devil. Capcom would then poll players on how a DMC game should've been like, which then resulted in the prequel to the original game, called DMC 3: Dante's Awakening, which revolves around the main protaganist's relationship with his twin brother, Vergil, who is portrayed as the misguided antagonist. The game's content was even considered better than the original because of its updated gameplay, able to swtich between four weapons on the fly, different styles of play and story content. The game receives a Special Edition to the desire of fans. The biggest update is the inclusion of the boss character Vergil as a playable character. People still await for the next sequel, DMC 4 to be released. So far, in the trailer, we see an older, paler version of Dante wearing a simplified version of his outfit in DMC 3 with a sleeveless black top and using the DMC 3 Rebellion. Also confirmed is that Dante's role is as the main playable character is replaced with a sort of doppelganger named Nero who uses 'Devil's Right Hand' in place of a Devil Trigger and is said to have psychokinetic powers. Also, Nero will possess all of the abilities and attacks of Dante, including the Stinger, and is said to also duel-wield guns. The only said info on the story so far is that Nero's organization is trying to undo Sparda's seal, but will first have to contend with Dante. About the character Nero other than his mysterious objective is unclear, but fans speculate it might be Vergil. This would be contradictive as Vergil doesn't ever use guns. (The only exception being in DMC 3 where he teams up with Dante). Another high speculation is that he maybe yet another son of Sparda, judging by his appearance which mirrors Dante, but everything still a mystery. Who is Nero, and what does he really want?

Any opinions or questions?

Wow, that's a lot of text, I've heard nothing but good things about DMC and... 3...mostly 3 and not so much on 2. While I've never played the game from what I've seen and 'researched' has made me try and seek out the PC verson of DMC 3 SE...(Alas, I have no PS2 and probably never will have one. Ever... due to...moral objections against Sony and Microsoft now...why do I even have an X-Box?! The only game I have is Halo 2 and it sucks now!) And by the way things are looking, I'll be able to play it... mmmm this weekend and I'm looking forwards to it ^^

I've heard of DMC4, but this Nero guy is news to me though... *Finds a picture on Wikipedia*
