LoneWolf
Recently, when trying to find good, cheap co-op games to play online with my girlfriend I ran into a bit of a dilemma. Whilst my computer is a midrange gaming rig that can chomp through most modern games pretty easily, hers is pretty Low-Spec, pretty much entailing Dual Core (maybe?) with an Intel GMA 4500MHD. The question is, what games would you guys recommend that have solid co-op that can be played online on a pretty slow machine? She can run most Source engine games pretty well, so we've already got Portal 2, Garry's Mod, and TF2. Age doesn't particularly matter, as long as it's relatively easily available (e.g. Steam or F2P). Also just general low-spec PC gaming thread for all you guys on integrated/old graphics. Share your favorite PC games and graphics tweaks to squeeze out as many FPS as you can.
Sarita
If you like MMORPGs most of my favourites can be played on low-end machines, they just wont be totally gorgeous. Lineage II for example I could run on my old desktop (which was less powerful than my old laptop, which is infinitely less powerful than my current laptop), and the game itself is beautiful, even on low-end machines. Another MMORPG is Ragnarok Online, the International server went free a few years ago, so no need to play on private servers, and well, it's sprite based. My very first computer could run it. Something you can play if you don't have a lot of time to spare is Pangya, and I haven't met a computer yet that couldn't run it. Cute and quirky golf game. Arashikage
Oh man, this takes me back to the days when I had a single core processor. I used to play games like Flight Simulator 2002, and Oblivion. There's actually a multiplayer mod for Oblivion, as for Fallout 3, but I seriously would not recommend it unless you want glitches. Farming Simulator 2013 is a fun little multiplayer game, probably not when you play it as intended, but I put lots of time into cheating to get 6 billion dollars and buying everything that's for sale so I can farm in comfort. Killing Floor is also relatively low graphics. Race 07 is also a fun low graphic game, especially if you like racing. The Ship is a low graphic assassination game using the Source engine. You have a character model, and you get a target. You need to kill your target and not be killed by them in self defense, and avoid getting killed by your hunter. You also need to be wary of people who might see you killing the person or brandishing a weapon because then you get sent to jail. Civ V runs on low spec machines, and that's also fun. Victoria II requires very low specs, and it's a fun grand strategy wargame. Sins of a Solar Empire for RTS galactic conquest, Serious Sam for guns guns guns, shooting and explosions. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2, or any game before it for terrorist hunting fun. Torchlight II, or Diablo II, are really fun dungeon crawlers. Warhammer 40K Dawn of War is also good. Zombie Master 1.2.1, a mod for the Source Engine, it lets you either be the Zombie Master and place zombies around the map, or be a survivor trying to escape said map. All these games are very good and low poly. I don't exactly know what you're looking for though, so I just listed these ones. I'll let you know if I can think of some more. PS: Sven Co-op is very fun too, it uses the HL1 engine and people have co-op maps and all that kinda stuff for it, plus you can do the HL1 campaign together. Steve
Get a gpu/cpu temp reading program for her, keep an eye on that number and make sure it doesn't go critical. No matter how much you try to tweak your laptop, if you are hitting critical numbers, the chipset will fail.

Cute and quirky golf game. Ah! I didn't see this! My first rig was unable to play Pangya for whatever reason. I have no clue still why, but whenever I would start up the game, there would be massive graphics problems, some things wouldn't load at all, I'd see boxes everywhere, and the screen would eventually just turn black and I couldn't do anything. It worked for everyone else I knew.

I was more referring to OS side tweaks and game tweaks/configs besides running on all low at 640x480 fft Also notably Sven Co-Op is going free on Steam as a Standalone game soon with steampipe and all that fun stuff. Very good.
