StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
Well, for those of you who hang around in the Complex, you may by slight chance, remember that I have a character named "Hunter Fox"...who, yeah you guessed it, is a fox. (dark blue fur, dark green hair....yeah...creative isnt it?) And so, because of my lack of imagination, I figured I would try to find a "RP furry character randomizer" to help me out. Let's just say I can't put into words how disastrous this particular run was...lets look at the results. Species: Cat Sex: Male (Ok good, I don't have to worry about pronoun mix-ups) Size: “Supertall†(I don’t even know what to make of this lol) [i would feel bad making my character too tall ya know?] Build: Normal (Not fat, but not muscular, more built than thin) Eyes: Green Hair: Multicolor (Six colors) [1: Orange, 2: Orange {different shade?} 3: Blue, 4: Blond, 5: Green, 6: Purple] (WUT....) Of course I just HAD to roll a 6 out of possible 6 with a multicolor hair.... Marking Color: (Mix of dark and natural categories) [Natural: Black] [Dark: Green (dark shade)] Green on Black? Yippee.... /sarcasm Marking Type: Stripes (Primary: “Dark Shade†Green, Secondary [aka markings] : “Natural†Black) [Awesome...well at least I can tell the difference between the two...] At it's most hilarious, the randomizer gave me a Female dragon, with height: tiny (meaning VERY short), with a muscular build....I stopped right then and there XD So yeah, lets take that cat I described above. Can anyone help me do something with that, or maybe even a different character altogether. I'm not worried about backstory, I'll come up with that, but just for the character descriptions I need some help
ballisticwaffles
Well in all honesty it depends. When i make a character i try and do something that means something to me, or some sort of facit of my personality put on paper. Look inside yourself for inspiration. StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
Well, you see, the issue is that Hunter Fox already has a piece of me, in a way. (After all, he is my fursona) I don't want the characters in dialogue to sound almost identical. And I also want to avoid the "polar opposites" trend. ballisticwaffles
You dont need to everything about your self into a single character. Branch out separate portions of what you think, act, and feel and go from there. I hate to toot my own horn, but i got a bit of me in my couple characters and none of them are carbon copies. Monokuma
I agree with Waffles here, My three characters so far are just a small piece of me. Wolf, my first character, is my fursona, but I keep bits and pieces for my other characters.
StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
Well not everything about me is in Hunter. He's more of an extension of myself in who I would want to be, and what kind of life I would be content with, if it were feasible (and of course if being killed was not a possibility). But anyways, I kinda want to try this large, "physically powerful" character out. Of course, I'll work out the physical traits, because nobody in their right mind would RP with this character, maybe draw him...but no RP That being said, maybe it will help me to understand interactions between characters of drastically different physical characteristics, kind of like how you make your characters interact waffles. I'll try coming up with more ideas I have never explored before in the meantime, but if not, ill come back to this thing.
CrypticQuery
Can you elaborate on what you mean by "character description" in the first post? Are you referring to the way in which the character behaves, their appearance, or a combination of those sorts of traits?
StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
I meant appearance specifically, crazy. Like I said, I can figure out all the personality things afterwards and background and whatnot. I just need to create this idea of what the character could look like before I get started on the other stuff, i dont know why, its just the way I think this kind of thing through. CrypticQuery
Ah, gotcha. I always found it perfectly fine to go with what is considered standard for a particular species, if not with a few quirks here and there. Standard coloration with white coloration of the tips of the ears, for example. Subtle things are always greatly appreciated in RP, especially when there are ridiculous character descriptions out there.
StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
Ridiculous character descriptions does not cut it.....I mean just look at the nonsense I got from the randomizer in my first post XD PPPffffffttt...extremely short muscular dragon FTW Even though it will be a secondary character to my character, I don't want it to be some throwaway overly generic backup/background character if you understand where I am coming from. I want all of my characters to have some sense of importance when I think of using them.
CrypticQuery
I do know where you're coming from, but do recall that appearance is only part of the equation. Personality and backstory then begin to bring importance to the character, more so than outward appearance ever could. At least, that's my view on things. It can't hurt to experiment, really - throw ideas out there and see what sticks.
