Do You Suffer For Delicious

Redeemer

An allergy is not likely, if it's dairy, you're lactose intolerant, my man. Mine doesn't flare up as bad as it used to, but I literally cannot drink cow's milk anymore. It hurts about as bad as Hayley described. This stuff doesn't mess around, for real.

Not to mention I just don't like the way cow's milk tastes anymore. Have you HAD lactose free milk? That stuff is DELICIOUS.

Huh, this seriously sounds like a problem I have occasionally. Wonder if i'm allergic to something.

An allergy would usually affect your skin condition, if you get this kind of stomach pain, you might have digestive problems like irritable bowel syndrome, which I also have lucky me. :/

If it's dairy food that does this to you, Sissi is right, you could very well be lactose intolerant.

I hate telling people I have these conditions because the stigma is "heehee you get the poopies" but in reality you don't even, you just get horrible stomach pain that makes you think you're fucking dying or in irritable bowel syndrome's case, acid in your goddamn throat that rides up when your stomach feels like having a tantrum.

Well isn't dairy, I know that. But occasionally I just get this dull pain the evolves into one where I have to curl up into all ball because stretching out my guts at all feels even more painful. Then I sit there in my ball and cry intill It goes away.

What do you eat when this happens?

Super important question, you'd be surprised what foods have lactose in them that you never would have guessed. One of my favourite brands of chips has it.

I'll have to pay attention, but I don't think it could be lactose, I drink GALLONS of milk with out any problems.

Get tested for celiac, AJC. That sounds like it could be a gluten allergy.

Speaking of allergies and suffering!

"I love spinach!" is something you wouldn't hear your average five-year-old say, but hey, I'm not your average five-year-old. I love it. Raw, cooked, preferably mixed in with pesto or white cheese of some kind.

It also inspires the worst spells of internal digestive revolt I could experience. In actual fact, I can't even digest the stuff and don't ask how I discovered that.

Every so often the urge strikes me to eat, like, fifty spanikopitas. Now I know the consequences but sometimes, it's worth it just to eat fifty spanikopitas.

Dras is right AJC, it might be a gluten allergy, that also covers wheat allergy which isn't so uncommon these days!

And Dras, that sucks. :( I love spinach too, I love it in salads and I love it creamed (the cream part is what kills me). Sometimes the aftermath is worth it just to eat something amazing, just bear the pain for delicious. ;_;

I just remembered something else I like but can't eat, OLIVES. I love the things but it's a trip to barfsville if I eat more than three.

Something else I noted.

I really like shellfish, but sometimes with only certain ones and very sporadically, I get only scraps of allergy. I don't feel bad, I don't get sick, but my throat barely itches or my lips get a bit numb, but that's it. I never got the full attack. I only had it once years ago, but it hasn't happened to me since. I also had supplements and other stuff not suited for people allergic to shellfish, but nada happened either.

You poor bastard. I love sitting down and just eating olives like they're candy. I can't imagine not being able to do that :C

Have you ever tried dandelion greens? It's commonly what khorta is (though khorta can be any number of greens), and it tastes almost identical to spinach. When boiled, anyways. Perhaps won't give you the same reaction.

All species of dandelions are entirely edible, though are rather bitter so should be blanched before eating for enjoyment. They are also highly nutritious.

Oh yes, forgot to mention a big one for me, walnuts (and a few other nuts I can't remember, pecans may be one). I have a mild allergy to them. Nothing dangerous, but my tongue itches like crazy after I eat them, but that doesn't deter me. Then I go at my tongue with sandpaper afterwards.

Yeah, it's basically anything leafy and green, which means lettuce, bok choy and dandelion is also out of the equation. Spinach is just the only one I really like.

Oh man. Nut allergies. I'm in the same boat with you. I cannot for the life of me eat peanuts. Whenever I do, the reaction always seems different. I'll be itchy and wheezing my lungs out but my face will either bloat up or just get really red.

I remember when I was really young I put peanut butter on my face for one of those bird house projects (This is also before I know about my allergy), and my face just got really bumpy. Yet only one half of my face. I looked like I was straight from Frankenstein's lab.

This is kind of gross but I sit and eat a whole jar of pickled onions and then accept the crazy stomach acid afterwards.
