Everyone's favorite kart racing game is back with an all new game in the franchise! The new game reminds me of Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity title-wise, as well as those light vehicles from Tron :) Fan-favorite features are back from all across the previous games of the series :D I am so excited for this :D

Actually it's been announced for a while now to be honest. Welcome back to SF-O Geo :P Haven't seen you in a long while.

Also because it is relevant:

Looks more like Mario Kart with elements from F-Zero (Minus crazy speed).

Doesn't look too bad although I'm worried about having 12 racers again. Mario Kart Wii had 12 racers also and combining that with online play is lagspike central. I'm certainly happy that Waluigi is back!

12 players just makes Mario Kart too hectic, in my opinion. 8 is the sweet spot. Dunno why they ever changed it.

But yes, MK8 looks fantastic. I got to play it myself at the Best Buy demo event back in June. It's probably going to be a new fan favorite.

It also just LOOKS fabulous on the Wii U. 1080p, 60fps, and all that stuff... just numbers. It takes a good art style and all the insane work put into Nintendo games to make them truly shine in "1080p 60fps" and, my goodness, MK8 seems to shine in every area...

Mario Kart 8 is definitely my second most anticipated (out of the games currently announced) Wii U game.

Second to DKC Tropical Freeze, of course.

Welp, MarioKart 8 eh? Seems pretty solid from the videos. Actually it does bear some close[r] resemblance to Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed, except maybe the transform duration.

Seems 'faster' than the other MK games I've played though, in which even the fastest still felt like "casual ride tour in a race track" at least to me. o3o

Yeah this isn't really new news but it's exciting all the same. I got to play it at GamesCom, it's really beautiful but if you get motion sickness be careful - sometimes you can drive all over the walls and ceiling.

It's nice to see Mario Kart in HD for once, and I do hope that the Wario Car from Double-Dash returns.

Not that I have a Wii-U to play it on anyway :-P

Also, if any of you have played Crash: Nitro Kart on the PS2, note that the flat-wheeled kart section of the tracks seem similar to that game's. :)

I really think MK8 represents the death of F-Zero. I just can't see Nintendo bringing FZ back with the elements from it being absorbed into Mario Kart. It makes them too similar, and with the brand power Mario Kart has it is done for FZ unfortunately.

This depresses me as I really don't like the newer Mario Karts at all. I can only hope this isn't really the case and that they're using MK8 as some kind of prototype f-zero just to test the waters.

At least WipEout is still around for the most part. WipEout HD on the PS3 was pretty decent.

WipEout is fine but it never hooked me like F-Zero GX did.

Agreed, though I have played both games and enjoy them very much. I'd never say no to another FZ, but I love the MK series and when I read that Miyamoto himself hated FZ, I kind of realised that there would never be another.

However if Al's idea is actually what they're thinking, then I hope that MK8s success spawns something FZ. Either way, I'm content, personally.

R3d and I are purchasing MK8 as soon as we can, in fact we have many games we would like. There's a new Mario Party being released next month, I want that, plus Zelda ALBW and Super Mario 3D World. Such money, wow, all gone.

Now if only they had online multiplayer... (except Zelda ALBW)

I know right? I'm hoping something works out.
