rebel_gunman
Just wondering: How many centuries will it take till Starfox catches up to StarWars Level of fame?
Mr. Krystal
Well, if we assume that Star Wars movies stop coming out, and that Starfox video game keep getting made (well), then, depending on literally uncountable factors, it could be anywhere between 5 to infinity years. Orbital Fox
Yeah, since Star Wars movies stop, and the possibility that Star Fox becomes more popular in gaming, like Halo level popularity. >_>
Ranger One
Personaly, i don't think you can really say One is better than the other, and for a very good reason. In many ways, Star Fox owes its very existence to Star Wars. Now I know some of your are gaging at that, and others are preparing to send me some rather explosive packages in the mail, but pipe down a moment, and hear me out. Look at Star Fox, the first game. What was the plot? Look at 64 in the same way. The plot was basicly a group of hotshot pilots working together to bring down an evil, deranged "emperor" (that would be Andross, lol.) Whats Star Wars? Movies "4, 5, and 6" (I still think of them as 1, 2, and 3, with the new ones being 4, 5, and 6, sometimes), in a nutshell, is an organization of desperate people and hotshot pilots struggleing to take down an overpowering and mighty Empier lead by a tyranical Emperor. In both instances, its the same. The ultimate villian is an Emperor, and its always a hot-shot pilot with uncanny luck and skill who takes him down. Only difference is that in Star Fox, Fox never leaves the cockpit of his Arwing to blast Andross, while Luke on the other hand is trying to redeme his father on the Death Star II, and its Anakin who defeats the Emperor: Luke was just the catalyst. But lets take a look at Star Wars, A New Hope, and Star Fox. In "A New Hope," The main character, Luke, has his foster parents brurtally murdured by Stormtroopers. In Star Fox, Fox's father, James, is killed by a betrayal by Pigma and Andross (or Andross's forces, Nintendo never filled out that part of the story, probaly to leave it up to the player to fill it in). Luke leaves Tatooine with Obi-Wan to learn more about the Force, and wants to follow in his fathers footsteps (before Lucas decided to make Vader Lukes father) and i'm sure there was a bit of revenge as a motive as well (the Empire killed the only Family he'd known, I'd be a bit surprised if someone didn't want revenge for something like that). Fox becomes a Hotshot pilot and leads the new Star Fox team, and likewise follows in HIS fathers footsteps. Both get their chance to strike a blow back to those who've hurt them. Luke, in a T-65 Incom X-wing, Saves the Rebel Alliance by destroying the First Death Star. That act killed millions of Imperials, but prevented the millions of deaths a weapon like the Death Star would have wrought (in other words, he stoped the Death Star from turning more worlds into Alderaans). Fox And his team strike out at Andross and his forces, defeating Andross on Venom, Saving Corneria from subjugation at Andross's hand, and who knows what other fates .(not only do we not know WHY Andross tries to take over the Lylat System, we don't know what he'd have done had he succeded. Who knows, mabey he had the goal Palpatine did; Complete and total control of known space, and bringing "perfect" order as he saw it. Just a theory.) Yes, i'm sure some of you are saying "HOW DARE YOU COMPARE FOX TO WHINY LUKE SKYWALKER (reference to Empire strikes back on Cloud City.)" or some other similar phrase. Well, face it, the two characters do have some similarities. In fact, Star Wars and Star Fox have MANY similarities. Both involve the thrilling intense-action space dogfights that i'm sure draw everyone here to both (okay, so some of you were drawn to Star Fox cause of Krystal, whatever, aside from that, i'm sure the space-combat was the next best thing for ya. ), both portray the hero's and the "good guys" as the underdogs (its true: the Rebel Alliance and the Cornerians are ussualy the ones outnumbered by their Foes (the Empire and either Andross's forces or the Aparoids respectivly, if you mix those up, you're in big trouble, lol.)), and both have hero's and villians who both mirror each other and couldn't be more different at the same time. (face it, for all their similarities, Star Wars has no analog to Wolf, while Star Fox has yet to truly Develop an analog to the Force (Adventures doesn't count, cause it hasn't stuck yet in future Star Fox games, only Krystal's telepathy has stayed on, the magic went out the window. I for one would love to see the Zelda style gameplay return in another StarFox game, even if they place the Assault style space combat in as well: both were good in their own ways (Adventures = pwning ground action, Assault = pwning space action)). But if Star Wars had never been created, I highly Doubt Star Fox would have come to exist. Star Fox draws on several themes from Star Wars, in a sense, you can say Star Fox is Star Wars, but with Animals, and much smaller super-weapons (no planet killers, there aren't enough planets in the Lylat system for those things, lol). Personaly, i'd say both are Equal. Both may have shared some similarities once, but Star Fox has now taken its own Path recently with Adventures and Assault, while Star Wars has gone back and in movies told the Story of Darth Vader, while in the NEW JEDI ORDER series of books, nearly destroyed everything the heros of the original films fought for with an invasion from outside the galaxy, and created a much more in-depth story to the Force, and the Jedi's role with it and to it. Star Wars isn't over yet: Even if the films are complete, books and games will no doubt be made for years to come based off the new movies, the original trillogy, and the books, for years to come. Star Fox isn't dead either, it'll return for another round on Revolution. What the future holds for both generas, only time will tell, but i'm sure it'll be enough to satisfy fans of both generas... ... and with that said, you may now resume packaging those bombs you no doubt want to send me for some of those comparisons I've made, lol. :P

Mr. Krystal
Ludvig, right-click and save target as the link above. If you are using Windows, you can view the animation in any browser (IE, Firefox, Opera) unless that setting has been turned off. You should also be able to open it in the Windows default image viewer and Quicktime. If on a Mac, use Safari or Quicktime. If on Linux, Konqueror or Firefox should be suitable to view it. HavikFox
This is a hard topic for me. I used to be a hardcore Starwars fan, but when I saw Starfox I flipped out. Starfox rules over Starwars but it was a hard decision.

Guest Eclipsed Phoenix
the arwing would own the x wing' date='y wing and alll those others. plus the sissy millenim falcon[/quote'] too bad the X-wing is far more agile.....dont forget there are like no sheilds in SF....or they are pitifully weak....go Star Wars. oh and ranger one? that was a nice piece of comparitive work there. as a fan to both SW and SF im impressed. thanks for bringing all that to light, as i had not really sat there and analized all that you did. thanks
Dark Fox
The MF would be in trouble form those smart bombs, as would the unagile Y-wing, but the TIE-interceptor/X-wing could rougly match up. now If the MF had two human gunners, that woulden be so bad. The A-wing would own a basic arwing 'cause it has just as much mauverablity. of course, if you where the Empire you wouldn't waste time with the supirior fighters and wipe out a few planets, or blow up the entire system with the resonance torpeados on your Sun crusher.... ^ would be my approach.... :compcrash:
