CrypticQuery
Dras, the video says specifically that the G-Diffuser wasnt put into play until 64. The puppets were used to advertise the original for the SNES. To be fair, SF64 was a remake of the SNES version. All of the general lore remained the same, just with the added horsepower of the N64. And very well. I'll drop the argument. But I still dont see why Krystal would be in SSB4. It just wont happen. Also, I edited my previous statement. Downloading roms is illegal. Hosting them isnt. Again, the legality of ROMs is largely questionable and seems to be subjective based upon the circumstances. Believe what you wish, however. I don't see why Wii-Fit trainer would be in SSB4, and yet there she is. There's always a possibility.
Drasiana
And even then they were not supposed to have metal feet in the SNES canon so the entire point is moot. "It just won't happen" ah yes sound argument there, completely free of any notable personal bias, way more sound than any of the reasons to bring her in such as: -Fairly popular character (despite whatever your school is saying) -SSB is a sausage fest and more female characters are welcome and needed (Dixie Kong and Palutena are also popular) -Her staff gives her a pre-packaged moveset: firebolt, ice blast, ground quake and rocket boost fill the B moves perfectly -Her inclusion rounds out the hero/heroine/sidekick/villain format that Mario and Zelda have already done and many people seem fond of -Literally any other reason stated in the first two pages of this thread -Mr. Game and Watch, ROB, the Wii Fit Trainer, and the Ice Climbers have all been SSB characters so it's never been a matter of character development or "fitting in". e: the bullet point function appears to be broken e2: it's okay to not want her in because you don't like her. Conflating "I don't like her" with a solid justification for why she absolutely SHOULDN'T be in the game is flawed reasoning. See: I do not like Krystal yet I can see the merit to her being in the game.
Jeroscope
You're failing to bring up the actual theory I had on page 2 about character development/involvement, because those are also contributing factors. Also, I'd very much like to see particularly which population you are talking about when it comes to requesting Krystal. I still have yet to see said polls. This response was edited twice due to a change in wording. Other than that, I'm done here.

Kiloshi
The release date for SSB4 in America is near the end of the year, right? So that means we have 9 months of revealed characters to see if Krystal makes the roster. Also, from what I can tell, some, if not, most of the newcomers didn't have a new game for them this year. I don't remember seeing a Super Mario Galaxy 3 coming out and Rosalina made it just fine. So that must mean that newcomers don't need a new game coming out this year to make the roster, so that may be good news for Krystal, or I just don't do enough research. Drasiana
People argued that she hasn't appeared in any Star Fox title since...Command? Was there, uh, a Star Fox title since then that we all missed or something? People complaining about her not using the staff much in the game is just silly since we, y'know, never saw FIRE FOX in ANY of the games, but whatever
The Shaper
Was there, uh, a Star Fox title since then that we all missed or something? Depends on if the 3DS remake counts as a new title or not. If not, that's probably still what they were going for.
EvolutionSFox
I'd actually buy that console just for this game, lost interest in the series since melee. She'd make a great addition as we'll, she's a unique character that stands out from the rest.
CrypticQuery
If one must really justify the background color choices on a character's profile, the blue could be representative of the sky. I'd file that under the SEEMS LEGIT category though.

Drasiana
That seems kinda...reaching. Like, totally reaching. Are there ever any of these "hidden clues" for the characters that actually wind up announced? Anyway can we also talk about hopeful new Star Fox stages in this topic? Our conversation last night got me thinking about the cool stage potential for the series, and since they haven't announced a Star Fox stage yet... Scott7
For those of us that would like to see it happen: The best we can really do is hope. No amount of speculation or debating will really change that. I myself personally doubt with Nintendo's recent History that she'll be put on the roster, but then again she does have alot of possibility for a unique moveset with the Staff upgrades from Adventures. She's definitely somewhere within' the top 15 most wanted characters to appear in the a Smash Bros. game (If any of you recalled the old character voting for Brawl: She actually tied with Wolf), and from what we've seen she's not an assist Trophy (Like some of the other characters I wanted to see *Cough*DarkSamusMidnaRidley*cough*), so I wouldn't count the Blue staff-wielding Vixen out just yet. Though I wouldn't hold my breath on it, either.

DZComposer
I remember hearing something not too long about about Krystal not being in because of some copyright with Rare?Star Fox Assault and Star Fox Command. The real reason we are unlikely to see her is that she really isn't a relevant character once you consider the whole Nintendo universe. Sure, you could say the same about Diddy Kong and Lucario, but looking at the rosters it really is just the lead character and maybe the lead villain. The only reason I can think of to put her in, besides adding a female to a male-heavy roster, is that she has the potential to be a non-clone Star Fox character. But my cynicism leads me to believe that they would likely ditch the staff, seeing as it hasn't even been mentioned since SFAd and a lot about her design and character has changed since then.I've noticed that Animal Crossing is slowly starting to supplant Star Fox in a lot of things (and it isn't hard to see why, Animal Crossing actually outsells Zelda when you account for system sales [~10% if system owners buy an Animal Crossing title, ~7% of system owners buy a Zelda title]). I'd expect Tom Nook before I expect Krystal.Overall, I'm indifferent so long as there is a decent Star Fox presence in the game, but I am worried here. I'm almost certain Wolf is gone. He really was nothing more than filler on the Brawl roster. Falco may stay, but he may be on the chopping block, too.
Giladen
The real reason we are unlikely to see her is that she really isn't a relevant character once you consider the whole Nintendo universe. Sure, you could say the same about Diddy Kong and Lucario, but looking at the rosters it really is just the lead character and maybe the lead villain. Diddy and Lucario are both more relevant than Krystal, seeing as how they've appeared as a protagonist and advertised event Pokémon with his own Mega Evolution respectively in games that came out within this console generation. But anyway, posters on forums throughout the internet really prop Krystal being playable in SSB4 too high. She wasn't playable in Brawl even with everything she supposedly has going for her. The only reason I can think of to put her in, besides adding a female to a male-heavy roster, is that she has the potential to be a non-clone Star Fox character. But my cynicism leads me to believe that they would likely ditch the staff, seeing as it hasn't even been mentioned since SFAd and a lot about her design and character has changed since then. 1. Posters on forums throughout the internet have made up a rule that says "CHARACTERS WILL GET IN 'CAUSE THEY'RE WOMEN!", or whatever. Don't put much stock into it. 2. Krystal could be another character with a moveset based on Fox's. I've noticed that Animal Crossing is slowly starting to supplant Star Fox in a lot of things (and it isn't hard to see why, Animal Crossing actually outsells Zelda when you account for system sales [~10% if system owners buy an Animal Crossing title, ~7% of system owners buy a Zelda title]). I'd expect Tom Nook before I expect Krystal. Most Zelda games after OOT have lower sales than the Zelda games on the NES and SNES. With Skyward Sword being a case of this. Overall, I'm indifferent so long as there is a decent Star Fox presence in the game, but I am worried here. I'm almost certain Wolf is gone. He really was nothing more than filler on the Brawl roster. Falco may stay, but he may be on the chopping block, too. If Falco wasn't cut during Brawl's development, then what makes you think Falco might be on the chopping block? As for Wolf, he's part of a group of boss fights that have been quoted or otherwise referred to for years.
Drasiana
Why are you using Brawl as a weird litmus test for why a character would or wouldn't be in the game? Little Mac, the Villager, and Mega Man were in high demand before Brawl, yet they weren't in it, so by your logic there's no point in adding them to SSB4. By that same token, Ivysaur, Squirtle, and Snake have all been cut, yet they were in Brawl too. Not really following your logic here, and since there's been a gameplay shakeup with the way SSB4 works, there's plenty of likely cuts to be had. This is one of the of reasons Falco could get cut: mostly, right now people are looking at the moveset swap feature, where Falco and Wolf's movesets could easily get relegated to alt. movesets for Fox, and the other two get cut to make way for characters that have unique movesets. It's not just Falco and Wolf, either--Lucas is another likely cut. And, yeah actually, female representation is a plenty valid reason to want her in the game. God forbid those silly wimminz want to see more of themselves in the games they play. Currently SSB4 has 20 male characters* to 6 female characters--two of those female characters are just alternate forms of Zelda and Samus, and all of them are average-height, conventionally attractive blond women . Three of the most popular requests for female characters (Midna, Dark Samus and Ashley) were relegated to assist trophies. That basically leaves Krystal, Lucina, Palutena and Dixie Kong--all who look unique and would play diversely--as the next-most-popular, it seems, and even if all of them, including Midna, DS and Ashley, were playable? There would still be more male characters than female in the game. So, yeah, even though I don't like Krystal much as a character, I would welcome her addition to Smash Bros 4--not only because her staff would make her unique, and because "blue fox" is quite the break from the endless parade of blond princesses, but because the game's a fucking sausage fest. That doesn't mean they will add her, considering they already gave Midna of all people the AT treatment, but it's why it would be nice to see her. So what if Adventures and the staff haven't been brought up in a while? Neither had Mr. Game and Watch and the goddamn Ice Climbers and they've done just fine for themselves. *I didn't count Greninja or Charizard, since I don't think any official source actually gives them genders. I also didn't count the WiiFit Trainer since they can be either male or female.
Emiko Gale
-Purple stated that seeking new elements on the SSB universe is their main concern, rather than seeking an appealing character, which brings us to the first reason while fullfilling the appeal criteria. That would explain so much considering the questionable character choices. Now my hopes for Krystal being in SSB4 aren't so hopeless.
