Blood Hounds - Ch. 3 : First Day on the Job

*Sniff sniff* Smells like bullshit. Ashlin may not of been the smartest on the ship, but she definitely wasnt stupid. By now she had practically figured Lennox out and pinned him as a lier and manipulative. And the fact that Ryan caught Lennox with his pants down only added to her assumption. "Haha ok." She said, flipping the empty shot glass upside down. "You must be pretty skilled to get a personal recommendation." It might actually help to have someone like him onboard, depending on the job.

(Ian to Ansam)

"Life must be dull if your idea of risk is cleaning your gun in a non sterile environment" Ian passes an appreciative glance at Elektra as she enters, giving her a once over before returning to his Cigar.

"If you need that kind of risk in your life, try eating raw eggs. Or playing with matches"

At "Playing with matches" Elektra approached the ape, "How about M80's?  A fine explosive if you ask me." She said.  "Elektra" The vixen stated, nodding to the two whose conversation she just entered her way into.

He pointed to Ashlin in jest and laughed it off. He wasn't even trying to convince anyone at that point. "Stole this guys' recommendation and turned in myself. That's the gist of it."

He felt all these guns added unnecessary tension to the room. "Hey, there's still a while before we can get out the artillery. Relax. C'mon" he directed to the big guys arguing over the dog's gun. (to Ansam and Ian)

(Ansam to Ian)

"Funny, you know this is the only time I ever checked my gun in this kind of setting. Trust me the only thing thats gonna blow in my face is some cutie I know back on Corneria throwing kisses. Usually I have my workshop on my ship but...well, its out of my hands...for now. Mainly thats why I'm here."

(Ansam to Lennox)

"Have I seen you somewhere before or maybe you just have one of those faces, eh?" With that he put away his weapon in his underarm holster.

(Ansam to Elektra)

"Hi, don't think we met yet. Let me guess, your name is...Elena?" he said pointing.

"Ian." He greets but doesn't answer the question, instead turning his head to hear Ansam again. "What ever helps you sleep in the evenings" he says, shaking his head and ending the conversation.

Hackett rubbed his forehead and walked to the central lift. "I'll be on the bridge." As the door closed swiftly behind him, he turned to see the team one last time before the doors completely closed. He sighed and slumped over, using the railing for support. "What have I gotten myself into?" he asked. As the doors on the opposite side opened, he walked through the main combat control center and down the corridor into the helm. He sat down, reclining the chair that had served as his bed the last few days and sighed, closing his eyes. This was going to be a lot more difficult than the military and he knew it. He was thinking he would have found a group of like minded individuals, but Dimitri and Ansam were the closest he could find. Maybe a could of the vixens like Ashlin and Star were in the same train of thought, but for the most part, the team felt rather... Separated. Oh well. Only time will tell if they can get it together or not. He checked on the ship's read outs and looked out the window into the serene coldness of space. It brought him solace and calmed his mind, relaxed and at peace. He then closed his eyes and start planning their first job.

(Ansam to Ian)

"Speaking of which...Sayonara." He saluted, "I have logs to saw." He then got up taking his 1 1/2 beers with him to his assigned bunk where he hoped to get some shuteye. Its been awhile since he got a good nights sleep. According the the assignment sheet, he was located on bunk 23, top. After hanging his coat, his left hand under the pillow, he went fast asleep.

Elektra looked at Ian after the strange man left.  "What's up with that guy?" She asked.  He must have been tired.

"Haha I wouldnt of done it any diffrent myself." She stated, replacing the cork back on her bottle. She felt it was enough drinks for one night and just wanted to relax until the job tomorrow. She leaned back in her chair and placed her feet up on the bar. "So at what planet is your bounty the highest?" she asked.

(Lennox to Ashlin)

"Oh I don't even thoguht about that... um... On my old line of work, the mileage varied, but it wasn't really me who was wanted, so l was most likely ignored" the feline said as he pulled his hair back.

"But let me tell you this. My old line of work is what made a country in Corneria have strained relations with half of Fortuna."

(Lennox to Elektra)

"Forget him. Usual biker thug for what I've seen, heard and smelled..." he answered sarcastically to the new girl as the guy in question left.

"Met before? ... I was in Corneria a couple of times... What was he doing again before? Ugh, can't remember..."

"Lennox by the way"

Dimitri walked about the ship, looking around. "Now wheres that tavern Ansam spoke of.." Turning a corner, he pulls out his phone. Calling to have his things delivered to the ship. Walking a bit more, he found it. "Here we go." He says, reaching the bar, grabbing a beer from the fridge; observing the others

(Alright, I think I should explain how exactly the ship is setup. There is a lounge floor so to speak, set up with a dining table, kitchen/bar area (Which most of you are at), a couch next to window leading to space, and a pool table. All of it brand new. Thats deck 2. Deck 4 is the shuttle bay, which is able to launch fighters. Essentially, what we're flying is a version of the Normandy SR2 which is modified from deck 2 down.)

"Aw thats no fun." Ashlin stated. "Without a bounty, your name dosent get out there." She noticed another person enter the room and grab a beer from the fridge. "Hey there cowboy, almost missed the party did ya?"

Zephir just sat on his stool and kept his feet up. Just watching through his darkened shades. Watching the corners. â€‹"Sentient beings with guns... bah." He was out of the harder liquor and needed something better. He stood and, making sure he didn't touch anyone else's drink, hopped over the counter to where all the drinks were placed. Screw not making a scene. "Oh where, oh where is the Moscato at?" He said as he begun his search.

(To Ashlin and Elektra)

"Yes I did. Not exactly mercenary per se, but I was in the underworld for a lot fo time..." he turned from one girl to the next "...trust me, a name is the last thing I want. Fucking up international relations because of your doing is just as satisfactory being unknown"

(To Zephyr)

He whistled to him, bottle in hand, cork in his index claw.

He looked at the newcomer. Well that's a dog stereotype if he didn't saw one before.

Hackett was sleeping at the helm as the ship was on a sublight course. He looked like he was having trouble sleeping though. His eyes were sometimes twitching as it was clear something was going on in that noggin of his.

(Ashlin to lennox)

"Hmm, I guess I could understand that."

(Ashlin to Dimitri)

Ashlin removed her boots from the bar top and sat forward, taking Dimitris hand in hers. "Ashlin Throne, but you can just call me Ash." She gave him a firm handshake, then let him go. "So what are you here for?" She asked.

(Ansam in dreamland)

Ansam had reached REM sleep. He dreamt nothing unusual aside from getting his ship back, having the engines purged (which he has been meaning to do but never found time to do it) and a fresh coat of paint for the old girl. Strange thing happened next, he ship morphed into beautiful lady while retaining the unflattering form of Snake Eyes. She spoke.

   "Ansam, oh handsome Ansam."

   "Baby, is that you?"

"How long am I gonna stay in this impound," she said in a pouty voice, "Nobody here is any fun."

"I'm working on it now, baby. Soon you and I will be smuggling crates of Zonessian hair gel in no time."

   "Promise?"

"Yeah, yeah I promise. Wait, whose that? Gamlin?"

Gamlin was a fellow smuggler, he and Ansam did runs up and down Lylat before things got sour during the Vemonian Invasion. He was doing rather strange things. It was a dream after all, he was just sitting eating clay tiles.

   "Gamlin, what are you doing?"

Gamlin turned and said, "The shingles are jelly donuts."

"Aaaaaaaaand its my time to leave."

Gamlin and Snake Eyes both waved goodbye as everything faded to white.

"Aah," Ansam woke up from his ten minute nap, "More mental images I don't need."

"Alrighty." He says, leaning on the counter now. "Found a flyer that said 'Guns for hire', figured being a merc and a lawman; I'd come out here." Now Taking a swig from his beer. "How about you?"

Zephir took the bottle and cork from Lennox. "Ah, thank you." He said with a smile and arouse from behind the counter pouring himself a glass. "I'm also curious," he started up entering the conversation. "I want to know why you all joined a band of misfits? Some of you have quite the redeeming qualities that would stamp you life square. Why mingle it up with the chance of death?"
