Star Fox: The Anime

As a long time anime and manga enthusiast (don't panic just yet...I'm mostly a Seinen person, with an affinity for more mature works like Ghost in the Shell, Vagabond, Hellsing, Lone Wolf and Cub, and Berserk), there are numerous video games I always thought would make spectacular anime, OVA, anime film, whatever.

So I present the query to all of you, Star Fox fans new and old: How would you like to see a Star Fox anime done?

1. Which animation studio do you think should make it?

2. Which story arc would you want to see them animate, or what kind of story would you want the anime to focus on if taking place outside the current canon?

3. How would you like to see it animated? Is there a specific style you think they should integrate?

4. Which game do you think the character models and world should try to resemble?

5. Who should voice the characters? The original cast from one of the games, or some of the big dub names from all over the anime industry (Johnny Young Bosch, Mary Elizabeth McGlenn, Crispin Freeman, etc.)?

At this point, the only input I can personally give, is this:

-I'd like to see Studio MadHouse animate it, using the merge of animation and CG to produce the space battles, similar to how the Gundam Series has in the past.

-I'd like the visual style to replicate Assault in terms of locale and vessels, but the characters to sport their garb and attire from the SNES era

-I'd prefer a standalone or interquel plot rather than an adaption of any currently existing game

What about you guys? What do you think?

A prequel OVA would be nice and whatever puts it to the closest approximation of Cowboy Bebop or Trigun stylistically.

Oh goodness, I can't seem to find or remember the video, but there was a YouTube video on this website a few years back that had a fan-made intro of a Star Fox anime, it looked amazing. If my memory seems to be correct, I would think that art style would be nice for a Star Fox anime. ^^

I do wish I had downloaded the thing done by the person who worked for the studio that made him take it down, or something like that.

Was that the one by the guy who jokingly drew Peppy as a giant musclebound dude? Because that was awesome.

I would love it to be like straight up Animated in a similar style to that of "Gurren Lagann, with a good budget, Studio Trigger would make a sick Star Fox Anime, OVA.  I would cry immensely.

Star Fox has tons of potential for an Anime, just look at how long Nintendo has dragged the beloved Pokemon franchise.

By the way, Layeyes, the bottom picture of your signature is something I would be highly pleased with a Star Fox anime looking like.

Lol I just Im a huge fan of  Imaishi Hiroyuk (director)

and Yoshinari You (Designer) they worked on,

and Directed Gurren Lagann, FLCL, Kill la Kill, worked  little witch of Arcania.

I spend time studying his style and try to emulate.  Alot of my Starfox designs are stem a bit from them.

I remember seeing someone recreate the Assault opening with "Supernova" by Tetrafang. That was pretty cool...

If I were to have a Star Fox opening, I'd have it sung by T.M. Revolution, or Kelun...

...or if I had a LOT of money, I'd get Susumu Hirasawa to sing it.

Haha...SIGH...and the fanboy dreams continue...  ^_^

Do you mean

by any chance? Or this scene

It's more in the style of an American cartoon, like the kind that used to air on Cartoon Network a while back.

Dude, if Nintendo commissioned you to make a Star Fox anime in the style of Gurren Lagann, they'd do themselves a blessing.

Fred stopped this because of his fear of getting a C&D, right? Or am I off quite a bit? His whole idea and art style of a Star Fox series would have been absolutely perfect.

I'm a big fan of Madhouse after watching Trigun, Black Lagoon, and Summer Wars, so I think them doing the animation on a Star Fox anime would be fantastic.

Although, Production IG would be a good fit as well, considering they have experience with flight and aerial combat scenes. They did do the cutscenes for the japanese version of Ace Combat 3, and the movie The Sky Crawlers (plus the cutscenes for the companion game Sky Crawlers Innocent Aces)

As for story, a standalone story would be great, or a prequel story about James. (Also, if they were to include all three, NO fricking love triangle with Fara, Krystal, and Fox. Pick one couple and role with it)

With Nintendo loosening their grip on their properties being marketed out, the chances of a Star Fox anime have gone up, but I would STILL say it's slim to none at best.

PS. Gainax would be great, but considering how far out there FLCL and Gurren Lagann got (though they were both FANTASTIC anime), not to mention Panty and Stocking, them doing Star Fox might get a little TOO weird. LOL

A Star Fox anime that looked and functioned like this would be nice:

This reminds me of Redline (Madhouse). Although I would definately be satisfied in a StarFox Anime of this qual.

Although F-ZERO would be outragiouesly sick if it was done in the same style as REDLINE.

Here's an earlier concept for SFLL (in attempts of making it as SF anime like as possible.)

We sort of attempted in a similar REDLINE Stylization in the Arwing and Space Ships designs.

Of course the only issue with the F-Zero anime was that it completely screwed around with the series canon. I have no problem adding characters to the roster featured in F-Zero X, especially if they are intended to tie up loose ends, but I do have a problem with changing backstories (or ignoring the original intended backgrounds of characters) and creating alignments between characters who should have nothing to do with each other. Other than that, I think the anime was enjoyable as a standalone work even if the pacing of the story felt it could have been refined at times.

Right, Im on SF-O...........as for a SF anime, why not simply create one surrounding the SF64 timeline just to see how people react to it, and then branch out from there?

Didn't they have an episode of the F-Zero anime that was pretty much the prologue to Star Fox, just with James' F-Zero counterpart?

Correct, and if you want to see the episode again, the title of the episode is simply "James McCloud". Granted its going to be in Japanese because the English dub didnt reach that episode so yeah....

The one scene that I recall seeing from it;

*scene of Falcon Punch*

This is proof that the Falcon Punch is clearly nerfed for its usage in Smash Bros :troll:

Yeah still not a fan of Rick Wheeler, FZERO would have been way more likable if it looked like REDLINE (would be ridiculous hardcore studio production tho). Its just when I watch REDLINE I'm like yeah this should of have been what a F-ZERO Anime should look like at it's full potential
