Dr. Orange
I just was thinkin', like I do, G, when I wondered "How many people actually use acronyms in their type/text/speech?" Acronyms such as "lol" "OMG" "wtf" and so on. I'm not talking about things like "SF-O" and "NASA" because I'm pretty sure everyone here says SF-O. Pretty sure. I know I never say any acronyms, I've always preferred the full word when I text or talk. You'll never he me say "lol" but I'll probabily say lel. I do however say "m8" over "mate" for some reason I have no idea why.
Gestalt
Oh it really just depends, at times I am a proponent for fully fleshed out text, given that I can whip it out fast on a qwerty, but other times I just shorten things up when the mood is right. I strive for clarity overall. OT- I'm going to bring it up anyway: In any instance where a member of my audience might not understand the acronym, say QoS or BM, I would not use it. LoneWolf
Usually I just use them for the purpose of satire, e.g. my home skillet m8 doge slice wtfbbq but sometimes I use some for srs. /joke

Hidi
This is the rule I go by: Generally, the more garbled and 1337 sp3@k the Hidi's text becomes, the more sarcastic the Hidi is.Is it just me, or do some of you find it faster to type normally with spelling and grammar than to type in text abbreviations? Xortberg
That's probably just because you're more used to typing normally than using abbreviations and the like. Muscle memory plays a huge part in typing, at least for me, and so typing "I'll c u 2day" is considerably more difficult just because, when I set out to type that sentence, my fingers are conditioned to go to the proper keys. If I were used to typing in condensed abbreviations and whatnot, it'd probably be WAY faster to type that way than to type out words normally. Certain acronyms and the like are part of my text vocabulary, like OMG, but like Hidi, I generally type correctly and use acronyms and the like when I'm being a silly sarcastic bastard. Sarita
I used to use "lol" ironically. Now I can't stop. Remember kids, don't start anything that you aren't prepared to finish with lighter fluid and a match.

Clearwater
I'm not really the l33t kind of talker. I don't really even see why the hell some people use it. What's wrong with just writing every word properly?

Clearwater
Yes, but "simple" things like ASAP, and such like that. Yeah, those kind of things, I use, because I KNOW what they mean half the time.
Ori
I regularly use acronyms if it's relevant and possible to do it. No sense in abbreviating a whole text to make it nigh unintelligible. Portuguese is already out there for that. In online chats I tend to use acronyms and such when I lack a better way to express. And that's not too often considering the terrible deadpan snarker/carefree goof that I am. But yes, you might see me saying sometimes 'lol' or 'wtf'. When it goes overboard then instantly assume something either has emotionally, visually, audibly or mentally scarred me or I'm not being serious. ... omgwtf u gaiz se dis im pst in da frms

LazerMaster5
Acronyms are kind of a joke to me, like hashtags and yoloswag and "Smoke weed everyday". These are things I say jokingly, and they are not to be taken seriously.
