InfinitySquared
Voice acting in videogames has always been pretty shaky, especially back then. I think the biggest problem is that the lipsync was usually terrible, since facial stuff has always required a lot of delicacy that most game engines just can't deliver/would take too long to work on. Also, voice-acting has never been Nintendo's strong point. It's not as...awkward as Final Fantasy X Or Sonic Adventure

CrypticQuery
Surely you two are not making the implication that Slippy's voice was tolerable in Star Fox 64, right? RIGHT!? SF64 had an interesting voice-cast, but I feel as if some of the developments made since then should be retained. I prefer Wolf's voice actor from Super Smash Bros Brawl, for example [though Grant Goodeve from Assault was a close second!].

Drasiana
Voice acting in videogames has always been pretty shaky, especially back then. I think the biggest problem is that the lipsync was usually terrible, since facial stuff has always required a lot of delicacy that most game engines just can't deliver/would take too long to work on. The actual voices themselves were completely fine, though, save for Fox being inordinately boring. For a bunch of people playing cartoony space animals they basically hit the nail on the head with everyone. The problem was that stuff like awkward pronunciations (Krystal saying "Pigma") and some less-than-polished deliveries made it into the game. These are mistakes that pretty much every voice actor makes, which is why they're usually given hours upon hours in the recording booth, not only to accommodate flubs but to do the same lines in many different ways so the director has a breadth of styles to choose from. Assault didn't give that impression. It gave the impression that they tossed a script at the actors last minute, shoved them into the recording booth for two hours because that's all they wanted to pay them for, and made them rapid-fire the dialogue without much space for retakes. The fact that the English translation of the game got rid of the facial animations that are present in the Japanese version definitely didn't help though.
AplabTheSamurai
I think Slippy should have a more deeper voice. His childish voice and behavior almost irritated me to the point where I started hating Slippy (But I didn't.) But here are my picks: Fox: Either Jim Walker or Nolan North. Falco: Yuri Lowenthal (Klavier Gavin, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies) Slippy: Orion Acaba (Apollo Justice, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies) Peppy: Same guy who did him in Assault. Wolf: Kyle Hebert: (Miles Edgeworth, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies) If Krystal appears: Alésia Glidewell (She voiced Krystal in SF:A and SSBB.) P.S: "SFA" refers to Star Fox Adventures, while "SF:A" refers to Star Fox: Assault.
CrypticQuery
Though I do enjoy the Ace Attorney games, they aren't particularly renowned for their voice acting. I suppose that if Nintendo would finally nail down some character personalities and traits, we would have an easier time with voice matches. mjakob42
Hmm... Well, we don't know what characters exactly are going to be featured in Star Fox Wii U, but I'll go off of the current cast of characters that have been featured in the series from 64 to Assault (I haven't played Command enough to know, or even care, who would be suitable for who). Along with film actors (whether mainstream or little-known), there's a character or two that I'd really like to hear voiced by certain music vocalists. So, without further adieu... FOX - Matt Damon FALCO - Mark Wahlberg SLIPPY - Steve Buscemi KRYSTAL - Scarlett Johannson PEPPY - Dustin Hoffman PEPPER - Gene Hackman WOLF - David Thewlis LEON - Vincent Gallo PIGMA - Penn Jillette ANDREW - Devin Townsend PANTHER - Gary Oldman ANDROSS - Phillipe Nahon BILL - Henry Rollins KATT - Chloe Sevigny JAMES - George Clooney EDIT: So, I just realized that I made a humorous Sean Penn earlier in this thread (I must have been drinking, haha). So, above are my ACTUAL suggestions.

mjakob42
Steve Buscemi as Slippy tho. I died. Yeah, I was hesitant about putting that one up to save me some embarassment. However... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0s6zZJdsZo There's something there in his voice that would fit IMO. *sigh* Then again, that movie was made over 20 years ago. One can only dream. Wolf O'Donnell
Hmm... nice question. I hope that you do not mind if I don't think of any voice actors in particular... Fox - I hope he keeps his current voice actor. It fits his personality, I think... Falco - Honestly, I was surprised with his voice in Brawl. To me it sounded almost just like his voice in Assault, and I really liked the slight Brooklyn accent. I hope they keep it. Slippy - Don't really care...He has almost always sounded like a squeaky tire. Peppy - His voice in Star Fox 64 is my favorite. His voice in Adventures was highly irritating, while his voice in Assault was OK. Hope they find something in between the voice from 64 and Assault (or bring back his 64 voice if possible). Krystal - I thought her voice in Adventures sounded more professional than her voice in Assault. I never thought of Deanna Troi in that game. Leon - I liked his voice in Assault and in Brawl. Hopefully they retain it. Panther - A voice more similar with his Assault one. His voice in Brawl was absolutely horrible. Wolf - If I had my choice, Wolf would have his VA from Assault or a VA that sounded similar. Despite some of the flaws with the voices in Assault (some sounded auto-tuned; delivery wasn't always great, etc), I loved his voice in Assault (thought it sounded perfect for his personality) and was thoroughly disappointed when I found out that he had a different VA in Brawl (to add insult to injury, he had the same VA for the Japanese version of Brawl as he did for the Japanese version of Assault)... That's not to say that I think his is voice in Brawl is bad - in fact, it sounds a lot like his Assault voice at times - but because of the line delivery some fans think that Wolf became Southern or a cowboy...which I dislike. (In short, if I had to rate voices in the respective games, Assault would get a 5/5, while Brawl would receive a 3.5/5). Whoever the VA is, I hope that Wolf is rid of the feral things he did in Brawl - I dislike the howls very much - especially when he is Star KO'd or KO'd in Stamina Mode. It just makes him look pitiful and greatly conflicts with his "tough guy" personality.
Rin
Honestly, everyone from Assault. They did pretty well, and I found the voices easy to listen to. The fact that Fox's actor had very noticeable approvement in Brawl speaks volumes - and hope - for me. I just sincerely hope whoever voiced Wolf in Brawl does not voice him. I need more Engineer in my life. And I didn't care for his voice in Brawl, it was really jarring in comparision to his Assault actor.
hoo
We need Dwayne Johnson for Slippy. AAAAND... Megan Fox for Falco.

Oh man, I totally forgot that Jim Walker was also his Brawl voice. Yeah, +10 to my theory that Assault's voice acting problems were mostly the fault of the director. Pharaoh Shadon
I personally like the assault voice actors. But if all of them can't come back, then I think that at least Krystal's voice should stay the same (Or if she can't come back, then Tali from mass effect voice actor is pretty cool) As for the rest though, I'm not really sure. I never thought of it, I wasn't a big fan of the 64 voice actors and the adventure ones were okay, but sounded a bit too young for my liking. ArwingFan
I hope Wolf keeps his Assault voice, it suits him the best. As for Peppy, Leon and Andrew, their 64 voices please. As for the others, I don't have a preference.
