geoprimedonna
Who remembers virtual worlds from the past? 2000s had a lot of those.
Vy'drach
Honestly, one thing that always gets me is vanilla WoW. It was the first real MMO that I played, and the sheer scope of that game and what you could do was amazing. First real class I made was a hunter, because I found out you could learn how to cook food that you could then feed to your pet, which this was mrw: Like, no, you don't get it. You could cook. In a game. Where you could then feed your murderpet and it'd become your friend, like the bestest friend ever, and then you would murder shit because it was there and had stuff and you wanted stuff and also to murder shit. Also, keep in mind I knew nothing of Warcraft lore, hadn't even heard of Warcraft 3 when I played WoW for the first time, and I'll get to that in a moment. Anyways, I found WoWwiki and WoWhead as tools to help me learn some of the finer details to the game, which didn't cause any harm at the time and taught me some important game mechanics, so... For instance, one mechanic I learned was that, at the time, unique pets had unique stats, meaning a rare raptor would have different stats than your standard enemy raptor. I found out about a unique raptor close to where I was at the time, named Takk the Leaper. My friend and I spent four and a half hours out of his five hour spawning perioud (apparently someone had killed him just half an hour before we set out) waiting for him to respawn so I could tame him, which I did after a few tries (he hit really hard). His specialty was speed, fastest pet in the game, if you were specced Beast Mastery, he could run down mounts. God I loved that raptor. But through WoWwiki I discovered the lore of the game, the who, what, when, where, and why's. And by the gods did it grip me. I could not finish the Lord of the Rings trilogy due to sheer boredom and disinterest, but I spent many an hour following wiki link after wiki link in a drive to learn more about Azeroth. The way all the races and factions (and there were a LOT) all fell into place together in the interweaving story of Azeroth's history was fantastic. The Titans, the Demons, the Dragon Aspects, the Old Gods, back then I could tell you who they were and how they all were connected. But through the lore I started recognizing places and other things. I learned who the faction leaders really were and why they were important. The world that was there was beautiful, and alive. But then, as is normal, you get more accustomed through the game, especially from learning the mechanics and what not from the sites (which was important to do but speeded you through ignorantly floundering through the game), and the sense of grandeur faded, not to be seen or felt again from any game in that genre (though I did feel it once more in Demon's Souls). The lore remained strong and is what kept me playing but for the most part the mechanics got worse and worse imho. But the lore remained strong, until Wrath of the Lich King. I was going to quit in Burning Crusade, the expansion before Wrath, but I found out about something that definitely made me stick around, Alexstrasza was going to be in Wrath, and not just that, you got to join her faction. Long story short she was my favourite Warcraft character ever and is perhaps my all time favourite game character. Come Wrath and she's everyone's favourite character, but not for the reasons one might expect or she deserves. She's everyone's favourite due to twenty pounds of flesh on her chest hidden behind a half-pound of armour. She was turned into a sex symbol with minimal at best mention of her character, what she had gone through, who she was, and WHY she was important. She was just there to be pretty. And then... still recovering from that... Arthas. Alexsrasza, the Life-Binder, the Red Dragon Aspect, She Who is Life, the Dragonqueen (and a whole list of other titles) is important to Warcraft lore, but she's a background character compared to Arthas Menethil, so much of the lore revolves around him, I can't really explain the story too well (like really, it's so long I could explain the events preceding, leading up to, during the entirety of, and following World War II faster and easier), but trust me when I say his death, and what happens during it, is so monumentally fucked it is equal to if the Harry Potter series had ended on this sentence, "And then Harry woke up in his cupboard under the stairs, brushing his blonde hair from his eyes." It was inexcusable. When I think back at WoW then vs. WoW as I left it, I weep openly.

geoprimedonna
Hey people.A long time had passed and a lot of stuff happened in terms of noslalgia. I could had made a new thread about that, but no. I like this one, so let's keep it.So who remembers Toejam and Earl (since it's for PS3, I don't think many even know of this game's existence)? They're back! Kickstarter revived the game. There was an objective to reach PS4, Xbox1 and Wii U, but they didn't reach the goal to do that, so it is for PC only. And Freezie Freakies are back as well. But for adults only. Kids already have enough knick-knacks nowadays, now it's time for adults to recieve a perk! You can find them online to sell. I personally like the fighter jet one.And you all know that I may make my own game for the Wii U or tablet. Guess what? I want to contact Abrams Gentile in a later future to see if we can make a revival on Shining Stars, a 2007 virtual world (Google it.). We may make a CGI TV series as well, inspired on the 15-minute series of webisodes they had. If I do so, we will make the game all over again from the ground up. And yes, maybe the Wii U will be an aim, to the fact that there are very few non-Nintendo games for kids and only for kids on the console. We may even make a VC of the DS Shining Stars game. It all depends on AGE's response, since they have SS's rights. Shining Stars was sort of a training wheel for me to have interest in Starfox (furries, starworlds, you get it, right???).Reading Rainbow is back too, but there will not be a new series. Just an app for the reading program and paid uploads of the original episodes on iTunes. And Signing Time is back, too. I loved that show when I was a kid. Epecially Hopkins. So many wonderful stuff happening (like Yooka-Laylee, N64 games on WiiU VC, etc.). And you? What can you share after this period?
