Giladen
Honestly, SF 64 is too easy compared to SF SNES. As far I can tell, Miyamoto and Co. didn't do a good job adjusting the difficulty for SF 64's mechanical changes.
LazerMaster5
Have you played through the more difficult routes? All hell breaks loose when you break through the enemy fleet, only to destroy the cyborgs of Star Wolf, and destroy the brain of Andross. That is the toughest section of SF64, and it took me a few tries to beat. SF64 just has a better learning curve, resulting in more replay value. Patch93
The hard route levels of Star Fox 64 really aren't that much harder than the rest of the game. And yes, there is Expert Mode, but that makes the game more cheap than challenging with its wing damage and what not. Also, SF64's replayability does not stem from its learning curve, it comes from its branching routes, high score system, and medals. I can see where Giladen is coming from. The original SNES game, while technically inferior to the N64 remake, had much more balanced difficulty and was a lot more challenging. Personally, I'd love to see this new game combine the best of what both worlds had to offer.
Drasiana
I don't think difficulty necessarily makes for a better game. As long as the game is actually enjoyable to play I will be happy, really.
StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
Technically speaking Venom 1 on Expert is the hardest thing in the game, which is a shame considering the Star Wolf battle could have been much more challenging. I can't even begin to tell you how many times members of SW would crash into those totem poles, even on Expert. I consider myself to be one of those weird gamers who prefers a substantially difficult game. Something about a challenge that feels nearly impossible to beat keeps bringing me back for some reason. However that said, the game needs to give me the tools necessary for it to feel like I am making things happen, and not the game playing itself. While an on-rails game mechanic can make things feel scripted, the fact that SF64 had you perform specific actions or reach certain objectives in order to play different levels made it feel much more open ended. LazerMaster5
And here I suck at games and rarely beat them. I liked SF64 a lot because of the fact I am able to beat it multiple times and feel good about myself. Well, I play the 3D remastered version for the 3DW, because it is the same game play with many enhancements.

Words of wisdom, right out of my mouth. I only care if the game is fun to play.
