Community Content Initiative Redux

Some of you may remember the old CCI plan I had. I would like to revive it for the upcoming SF-O overhaul, but I will work it a little differently.

1. The Community Content board will be moved to the main page. That will increase its visibility and hopefully encourage participation.

2. Anyone who submits anything of significant value (writes an article, scans a book, etc.) will be credited.

3. All ideas will be considered (That doesn't mean they will be implemented, however.).

I would really appreciate community help here. This is your opportunity to help shape SF-O and build it into the high-end fansite that Star Fox so desperately deserves yet depressingly lacks.

Site Editors:

I would like to add two site editors to the staff. Dras currently sits in one of the slots, as it was created for the original CCI. If she's willing to re-commit, she will remain in that slot. Elsewise it will become available along with the second slot.

IF YOU WANT TO BE A SITE EDITOR PLEASE READ:

:iwata:Please understand that you are making a commitment to SF-O. If you do not perform your duties you will be terminated from the position. (Yes, that Iwata pic is now an emoticon : The code is iwata)

Site Editor duties:

- Assist in selecting and copy editing content submitted for the site.

- Assist in site maintenance. (probably only one of the positions will have this duty)

- Perform basic moderation in the Community Content board.

- Write base articles for major topics. <- Important

- Assist in the transition

- Write news articles for the front page as needed

- Assist in connecting the main site with the fanbase through features like the old "Weekly Fanstuff" from back in the day.

Qualifications:

- Fluency in written English.

- Demonstrable knowledge of both Star Fox canon tracks. (If you can pass the ">Star Fox Fan Final Exam" it is a huge plus)

- Knowledge of HTML and PHP a plus

HOW DO I APPLY?

PM DZ asking for the position. Explain why you want the position and provide a short example of your writing. Also include any other information you think may be relevant, such as your score on the True Fan Final Exam or any PHP Code you've written. SERIOUS APPLICANTS ONLY.

I DON'T WANT TO BE A SITE EDITOR, BUT I WANT TO HELP!

Easy, just post your idea or item in the Community Content board.

WHAT KIND OF CONTENT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

ANYTHING! Articles on characters and vehicles (just make sure you can back-up your facts from a Canon source), fanfics, game tips, opinion pieces... If it is Star Fox related, submit it!

THE CCI IS TO MAKE SF-O YOUR STAR FOX FANSITE! My role is to pay the bills and keep the site running. Of course I will be creating content, too, but the content should be content the community wants.

I say, this initiative is very exciting,

I'd love to help out with editing as well as site maintenance but I need to build my web code portfolio before I dare apply to take on the responsibilities. That way, any contribution on my part would go above and beyond the call. If a similar position opens (or is open) in 3-6 months, I'll certainly jump at the opportunity for consideration.

When all is sorted out, I think the front page could use an article on the revival and inner-workings of the CCI.

I'm a total noob around here, so I wouldn't have the audacity to apply for this position, but I would love to see SFO blossom in a popular fansite! I think it's the closest thing the fandom has really.
