Mr-Chris
Couldn't think of a better title unfortunately lol. So when we think of a typical or 'normal' Star Fox title, we think of being on-rails and in an Arwing right? Much like SF64. Games in the series after SF64 would try to incorporate new ideas that left fans divided. Assault's on-foot mechanic, Command's strategy map, etc. The question is, what type of title do you think and/or hope the new Wii U game will be? Shiggy has said there will be 'valley' levels (on rails) which is great to hear, but then again Assault had those too but in low quantities. I'm thinking the game will mostly be a 'normal' Star Fox title because this is basically the first non-remake game in the series since 2006's Command. Therefore I would hope they would think people would want a return to form for the game. Though there obviously will be new ideas. The E3 tech demo showed how there could be a helicopter-esque vehicle involved, and GamePad motion controls. So how much new and/or classic will the game be is what I am asking. I'm hoping they go for the more classic route.
DZComposer
It will be very much an "experimental" game as the E3 PoC build sure was. Independent aiming and tethered robots are paradigm-shifts for the series.
Drasiana
There are less "normal" Star Fox games in the series than games that tried something new. Don't go in expecting a 64 clone or you will be disappointed.

CrypticQuery
I've always preferred the on-rails segments, though I do understand that there is only so much that can be done when a game is exclusively on-rails. Nintendo seems to be taking a compelling direction with the newest installment, and I look forward to hearing more about it in the coming months. Scourge
Area 6 and Zoness are two of my favourite levels in the entire series... Honestly I just want more of those :<
Mr-Chris
Traditional was the word I was looking for! D'oh. Anyway yeah the On-rail Arwing sections will always be what Star Fox truly is at it's core. So I'm just hoping most of the game will be this will new and/or different elements added in for variety and 'meat' to the game. I wanna say that this is what I think they will do but I can't help but think more of the game will be non-on-rails segments. Oh well, we will see. CrypticQuery
And yet, Star Fox went into a slump after 64. I don't think that's because of the style of gameplay. The effort put into the games that were released after SF64 was not on-par with how polished the Nintendo-developed installments in the series were, in my personal opinion. Drasiana
^That. Execution is always, infallibly, 100% more important than idea. And... And yet, Star Fox went into a slump after 64. That was not the point! When the majority of the games in a series do not stick to a particular convention, you do not get to sensibly say that convention is "normal" for that series! "Traditional", yes, since the games were the originals, but normal has a very different meaning, and was evidently not the one that Mr-Chris was trying to convey. In terms of on-rail, more traditional stages, I sort of feel like Miyamoto did say something to the effect that there would be more complex stages reminiscent of 64 in there, but I don't remember where he actually said that or if it was just a wonderful dream. There will be a lot of new weird things in there for sure (Arwingcopter, transforming Landmaster, possibility of Project Guard incorporation), but I think it'll be a more tactful blend of old and new.
valkiriforce
I like that they were ever willing to try something different with the Star Fox games. I enjoyed Adventures and Assault despite the mixed regard people seem to have for them. Though I can't say I mind the idea of an on-rails shooter if they had done that with every game I may not have been as interested as I am now. I just think they need to master the controls if anything when it comes to on-foot missions (if they happened to include that) since I know there are plenty great 3rd person shooters out there that play a little easier than the control scheme for Assault IMO. It was one of the few things I had to get the hang of when playing that game. Anyway, I'm hoping to see them try something different with this title; at least enough for it to stand out on it's own rather than being seen as another iteration of SF64 or any other title in the series. Gestalt
I'm biting my nails for more conclusive news, but I'm hoping for a nice balance. That way the new stuff be could soar like a Blue Marine, or have some creative on-rails to fall back on should they fail. And I say "creative" because I wouldn't want the on-rails to be a clone. Familiar, but not a clone. OT, should they Blue Marine. I shall squee very loudly.
