Playstation 3 has a virus on it? What should I do?

Question

'>

I hooked my PS3 up to my school's internet today and decided to watch some Youtube videos on it. After I was done, I got off of Youtube and this was the first thing I saw. There are two files appearing in the photo, music, and video sections of my PS3 that aren't supposed to be there. One is called "TROJAN_VIRUS: Evan Prehn:" and the other says "ERROR2014: fphaecker@gmail".

Not sure what I'm supposed to do. One person suggested to me that they were made for windows and won't affect my system. Playstation's website says I should format my disc to delete all data and start fresh. I don't know what to do. When I go over them and press the triangle button, which normally gives me options to do something to files on the disc, all it says is "information". There's usually more options including a delete option. I can't delete those files. Other than them just being there though, my system appears to be working properly. What should I do?

EDIT: Not sure why that highlighted or how to remove it. Copied and pasted this from where I posted it on another site.

Was suggested on reddit to remove my cable providing me internet. I was suggested that they have dlna sources and are just names and aren't anything bad. I removed my cable and they vanished. I put the cable back in and they appeared again.

EDIT: Basically, I think it was a false alarm and a practical joke someone played naming their media servers or something that.

I'm not sure what they are, but I would recommend trying to back up save data and other things you want and then delete everything. Its a pain in the arse but its better than having potentially harmful software on the system. Even if its not made for the PS3, its not the sort of thing I would want lying around.

Back up the saved data that you care for on a flash drive. Then, use the PS3's format utility function under the settings menu to format the HDD. Replace your backed up files after the format and you should be good. If I'm not mistaken, the PS3 has a a dedicated YouTube application so you don't have to use the browser; perhaps you would benefit from making use of that in the future.

I didn't use the browser. I used the Youtube app.

That's certainly odd then, and a format is still the best course of action IMO.
