russiandog38
Ashlin swore as her round pretty much did nothing against the drone, but seeing as Trask handled the situation, she turned her attention to the sky. Vaulting over the vedors stand, she followed behind Trask, typing frantically on her data pad.
Star_Dragon
Salto was now fully aware of the situation that was going on. Following Trask as he winded their way through the street, Sal kept checking to make sure that none of those robot drone things were following them. ''Trask, do you know what kind of a threat these things pose?'' He asked while moving. ''And do you have any info on how to fight them that could potentially help us? For example, do they favor melee combat, ranged combat, et cetera?'' "Those drones aren't meant for prolonged combat - they're meant for abductions," Trask explained as he stopped at the security cache. "But the Tal Shiar troops are another matter - long story, not enough time." He then opened the cache to reveal several rifles and carbines. He picked one up - a modded Reman Disruptor (img below) and tossed it to Sal. "Ever handled a firearm before?" Trask asked.
Clearwater
"Nope, but I've played a fair few shooters in my pre-nomad life, so it should'nt be too hard for me to get to grips." Salto explained to Trask, grabbing the gun and feeling its weight. He made a gesture of slight surprise. "Maldito, lighter than I thought. Anything specific I should know of this?" He asked, pushing the head feathers covering his eye to one side and peering down the scope with his other.
Star_Dragon
"That's a Reman Disruptor Rifle - modded to fire a Kadgeron Disruptor pulse. It'll be handy of we encounter enemies equipped with personal energy shields - which is looking pretty likely with Tal Shiar troops inbound," Trask explained. "The weapon is powered by the power pack in the grip - the power pack is self-recharging, so you needn't worry about reloading." He grabbed a beam rifle and tossed it to Ashlin. "Ashlin, here - beam rifle. That'll take down those drones easier than your ballistic rifle." He then turned his attention to the Raccoon. "What about you? Who are you and can you handle a firearm?" CrypticQuery
"Call me Neil. You don't need my last name, 'cause last time I gave that out the telemarketers wouldn't leave me the hell alone," the raccoon offered with a halfhearted laugh as he strolled over, hopeful that the immediate threat of death had subsided for a short while. Focusing his gaze upon the cache of armaments, he pressed his baton against the ground to retract it and slipped it back into its belt-pouch. His experience with energy-based weaponry was limited, that was for sure. Shrugging his shoulders, he outstretched his hand. "I learn quick, but if you've got anything that won't occupy both of my hands at once I'd appreciate it. I like having other options," he added, perking his eyebrow as he patted the holster on his belt and shifted his stance onto the ball of his left foot. "How about a crash-course on these guys that don't agree with us remaining among the living?"
Star_Dragon
"Again, long story, not enough time," Trask replied, tossing Neil a Plasma-Disruptor pistol. Looking around at the chaos around them, he said, "Security volunteers are getting the civilians to the shuttles - we should head that way, too. We can take a shuttle to my ship, the Retribution's Thunder." "The Retribution's Thunder?" Tovan asked. "I thought it had been decommissioned?" "I lied - I didn't want unfriendly ears learning it's location," Trask stated. "Let's set the distress beacon, then get to a shuttle. Keep an eye out for Tal Shiar troops and those Elachi drones. Let's move - on me." Trask then closed the cache and began heading for the outer edge of the market.

russiandog38
Ashlin had still been typing on her data paf when the rifle was tossed to her, looking up and catching it last second. She looked it over in her hands then raised to to her shoulder, looking down the scope. "Well, im more used ta usin my rifle, but I can adapt to this." At the mentioning of the shuttles her ears pinned back a little. "I hav'a ship here, in one of the ports. It cant fit all of us, but that thing would cost way to much money to replace. I cant leave it here."
Clearwater
"Then what's the plan?'' Salto asked, jerking his head around when he heard what sounded like a crash. ''We can't leave either ship down on the ground. If there's something waiting for us out there, chances are they'll try and stop us from escaping, and we're gonna need everything we can get at this point. Ashlin, how far away is your ship?'' He asked, flipping the boom on his mic down so the mouthpiece rested near his lips.
CrypticQuery
"Look at it this way," Neil began, spreading his arms and glancing about to ensure that they were still in the clear. "If we stay here much longer none of these ships are gonna be intact long enough for us to get out. You won't be able to use the thing if there's a hole in your chest the size of a bowling ball, right?" Looking back toward Trask and nodding his head in obedience, the raccoon was more than willing to follow if it meant that they'd have a chance at leaving without casualty. Star_Dragon
"My ship's not here on the planet's surface - it's hidden in orbit," Trask said. "Ashlin, can your ship fit four guests? If it can, we can take your ship to mine, and get the hell out of dodge."
russiandog38
"Maybe if you wanted to sit on my lap. Its a scout fighter, one seat in the cockpit." She turned and looked back down the street. "Its in dock two, which is a dash down a few blocks and around the corner." She turned back to Trask. "But if you can get to that civilian shuttle I can protect ya as you guys take off." Star_Dragon
"Fair enough - get to your fighter. I'll lead you to my ship. Neil, Sal, Tovan - on me. We set the beacon and get to the shuttles!" Trask exclaimed. "Watch yourself, Ashlin," he added before heading off toward the edge of the market. CrypticQuery
"Remind me to take you up on that lap-sitting offer sometime!," Neil called out to Ashlin with a slight grin in hopes that it would alleviate some of the tension in the atmosphere, and perhaps for his own benefit as well. Turning his attention back toward the group before him and looking down as he observed the handgun in his grasp, the raccoon tightened his grip and exhaled, moving his gaze toward the others. It seemed like just yesterday he had stopped on Virnat - it appeared to be a peaceful enough settlement at the time. That perception was shattered as soon as the cavalcade of projectiles and hostiles showed up, chuckled at the absurdity of it all. Breaking into a jog to catch up with the departing wolf and company, he sighed to himself. At least we've got a chance together, right?
russiandog38
Ashlin just shook her head at Neils comment, to preoccupied trying not to get pushed down and trampled as she ran against a surge of people. The street was clogged with them and progress was slow. The fox had an idea, though a bit more dangerous, she climbed up on a vedors stall and began to run across the roofs. Star_Dragon
Trask kept moving, heading for the beacon, but stopped just shy of a clearing. Upon seeing who was in that clearing, he dashed for cover. "Get down!" he told the others in a hushed tone, "There are Tal Shiar in the clearing!" One of them began to turn around, as though hearing this...
Clearwater
''Take cover!'' Sal yelled, as he slammed down behind a wall and took up cover against it. Sal unlimbered the rifle Trask had gave him. Just to make sure the weapon was properly loaded, Sal ejected the power cell which dropped into his hands. Sal grunted and firmly rammed it back in, as it winded up. His rifle now ready, Sal peered around the corner. He spotted two hostiles before they caught wind of him, and brought his head back behind the wall. ''Contact! There's two of em!'' Sal shouted to Trask, Tovan and Neil. As soon as he said that, Sal whipped out of cover, brought the scope on his rifle to his right eye and levelled it to the hostile he saw. Salto pulled the trigger, and a white pulse was discharged from the nozzle, flying straight for the hostile he had aimed at.
Star_Dragon
"Subtle," Trask growled as Sal nailed one of the Tal Shiar in the clearing. Trask rose from cover and fired on the other one. The 7.92x33mm depleted uranium-magnesium rounds made the Tal Shiar trooper's shield flare and overload. He took multiple rounds to the chest and dropped dead. The Romulan colonists that were being rounded up by the Tal Shiar that had just been killed ran for the shuttles. But that wasn't the end of it. Disruptor pulses flashed in from somewhere behind, and Trask was quick to spot the source - another team of Tal Shiar. "Contact rear!" he shouted, firing on them. "Tovan! Get to the beacon and fire it up! We'll cover you!" As Tovan ran, Trask turned a table over and took cover behind it. "Sal! Neil! We gotta hold these guys off until Tovan gets that beacon ready!" Clearwater
''I'm on it!'' Salto shouted over to Trask, reaching into his backpack and taking out another handful of paintballs. He slung the rifle over his back, then jumped out of cover and began to wall-run up across the limestone wall. At the top of it, Sal jumped and threw his paintballs. They rained down and splattered the gorup of Tal Shiar, confusing them as they were drenched in green, yellow and red paint. ''I love these things,'' He chuckled to hisself, as he landed behind his attackers, drawing his knife and throwing it at one of the group. Because of the paint that was covering his face, the soon-to-be victim never saw the knife comine. The blade pierced the back of it's head, and he dropped to the floor. Sal wouldn't have time to retrieve his knife, so he ran for a pile of wooden crates that were stacked up and took cover behind them. ''Ugh, maybe I shouldn't have done that,'' Sal said over the radio, getting his weapon back out. ''But I got one of 'em, at least. Tovan, hurry up!'' CrypticQuery
"Sure, give the element of surprise away! It's not like we needed every goddamn advantage that we could get!", Neil called back sarcastically as he too dove for acceptable cover. The corridor that they occupied appeared to have been linked to some sort of storage area; both wooden and metallic containers were stacked in varying positions amongst other cargo, and they provided, albeit meager, options for avoiding enemy fire. Ears pressed back against his head and teeth barred in instinct, the raccoon turned at Trask's warning call and was taken aback at the reinforcements that were swiftly approaching. He vaulted over to the opposite side of the concrete barrier that he had chosen, leveled his pistol, and squeezed off several shots in rapid succession - the unique recoil of the weapon was something that he had to get used to. "How many of these guys are there!?" Neil thought as he haphazardly pointed and shot at anything that appeared to be posing a threat. As he turned to ensure that the attackers from behind were being taken care of, a blast from the front slammed headlong into a crate that sat just by his head, putting a hole through it and leaving a burnt surface behind. Wide-eyed and turning to look at the spot, he ducked back into cover and tried to stop his hands from shaking so that he'd be able to hold the line. Things looked grim to say the very least. "I...I sure as hell hope that Tovan knows his way around beacons!"
Star_Dragon
"I got it!" Tovan shouted, as though an answer to Neil's comment. "About damn time," Trask growled. He fired his rifle at the approaching Tal Shiar troops, then fired it's disruptor at a Elachi drone that was gunning for Neil. "Everyone, fall back! Let's get to the shuttles! Fall back!" He fired another burst from his weapon, making a Tal Shiar soldier run for cover as his buddy next to him was gunned down. "Shuttle's this way!" Tovan shouted, "Come on!" russiandog38
Ashlin heard a huge amount of gun fire behind her, but being so far ahead already she couldnt turn back. Leaping from roof to roof, she sprinted toward the docks, trying to ignore the mass panic and the yelling that ensued below her. Reaching the last building in the block, she volted off it, barrel rolled in the ally below, and was up and sprinting again. She could see her ship just down at the end of the street, its black armor glinting in the sunlight. For a moment, a smile creased her muzzle, but it quickly dissolved when two Tal Shair soldiers stepped in front of her.

Clearwater
(Welcome back! ) Sal hopped out of cover to shoot one more hostile, then made a beeline for Trask's position, keeping his head down as he ran. ''Let's get the hell out of here!''' He shouted, turning to fire and pin down a Tal Shiar that was on their tail.
