Now the first thing you probably wonder is "Why did I call it starfox zero mission? Is that suppose to be a pun of metroid zero mission?" and my answer is yes. Let me explain. I was playing through the starfox SNES story and thought "I feel like I've played this before..." So I play through the first level of starfox 64 and notice they both have the same first boss. Not only that, but basically the same story, only that the N64 game goes into more detail. So for those who wanted an SNES remake, you've already got one, and its called starfox 64 (And if that's not good enough for you, then Starfox 64 3D to even further perfect it.)

Story- The story is that there is a scientist named Andross who was conducting dangerous experiments ((Which in the N64 game says that it was bio experements which was a danger to the citizens of corneria)). After countless warnings he was banished and forgotten. However the corneria army was detecting strange activity at the planet venom and at closer inspection, the planet was seen to have been turned into a military base. It turns out that Andross went to venom to create his army and cast war against the lylat system. So team star fox set out to stop the evil of andross. This game also explains that Fox's father, James mc'cloud was doing a search with peppy and Pigma. Pigma betrayed them and James had to sacrifice himself to let peppy escape. Peppy was then told to tell fox about his father and thus, Fox became the leader of the new starfox team. (See? Same as starfox SNES but with much more detail)

Gameplay- Okay, the virtual console on wii must have butchered it. I got starfox 64 for the N64 yesterday and after playing it, it was VERY smooth. So AVOID THE WIIWARE VERSION!!!!!!!!!!!

ANYWAY The gameplay is very smooth. The tank mission was a bit annoying but that's about it really. It was solid, fluid, and over all a good experience. (The wiiware version on the other hand is just downright terrible. I can't put my finger on it, but it feels much much different and worse)

Graphics-
AMAZING! I did not give this game enough credit at first. The moment I saw the reflection in the water, I knew the graphics were really good. Even for its time I find the detail pretty amazing.

Music- The music is good. Not much for me to say about the music. I think I was so wrapped up in the game and gameplay that I wasn't paying attention to the music.

Complaints-
I don't like the writing, its full of bad puns, weird voice acting, the enemies seem really immature. Like this one guy who gloats and says he admits defeat... IF Fox can survive phaze 2! HAHA! and the cutscenes feel kinda rushed because of the very vague writing. Like general pepper does not seem like he should be a general, this one scene Fox says he sees an enemy base there and pepper says "There is a base there?" And that's it, no orders to see it, no added words, that's just it. I know I criticized Assault for being vague but after playing this game, assault is a blessing and I was able to see the glory of the few scenes like Fox and Wolf's talk, dinosaur planet, and a few more. So THANKFULLY that is grown on in the future (maybe the next starfox game will have even more detail and writing.)

Random characters- While playing, someone named Katt comes out of no where to help you, she is very flirtatious but its not her I have a problem with, its the fact she's a nobody that was not in the previous game, she just comes in, falco says what is she doing here, and she never gives a real answer. Only through research did I find out she was from some comic and her and Falco use to be in the same gang but I didn't know that at first and she just came and went when she felt like it. A little more back story would have been nice in the game.

Everyone kinda sounds like a kid but with their age I will give them the benefit of the doubt. But I also realize that Assault gave me standards, the serious nature of assault, the amazing voice acting and stuff made me think this game was gonna be similar but I was way wrong but I'm not going to blame the game for it since it came before, I just think of it as another improvement that the future fixes (For me)

Alternate paths... I think you need to take one or two for the games real ending, but some are so cryptic. Like in the first level you need to save falco and go through all 7 arches coming from the water, once you do that Falco will spot the enemy and take you through a water fall (Even know there's another enemy on the normal path... So I don't understand the difference) If you don't do that (Even if you miss it by 1) falco wont see the enemy and you will be taken to the normal path. There was this annoying one in this oil rig looking place were you gotta go by without being detected and I think destroy things. That's not really what alternate paths are, its just scripted events that lead to other scripted events. Alternate paths are forks in the roads you can choose to take, not do an event for your team mate to take you somewhere else.

Wants in the game-
I wish it was not a game with multiple paths, I wish they would have took all the levels, put them in an order, and made it one long game, each playthrough doesn't take very long but neither was the original and its clear they were after a arcade style game. And I always sees starfox as a series that wants to push a console to a certain limit somehow so they did really good regardless. I just prefer one long story involving all 25 places over a single playthrough with like 10 levels then you start over for other routes.

who is it recommended for- Anyone, this game is AMAZING. I still recommend the 3DS remake, but this one has its own charm to it.

Rating- 10/10
The game is very fun and I now understand why it is over rated. It truly deserves its spot as one of the best (if not, the best) starfox game that exist.

Not much to say here, this is undeniably the best game in the series. It fixed a lot of the problems the first two games had and then some. If you haven't played it yet, do it now. 9/10

BTW, I wouldn't compare this game to Zero Mission, as SF64 is only a remake of the first in terms of story, otherwise the gameplay and level design in both games are completely different.

That's what I woulda thought to, but I did play starfox 64 first. And playing the SNES game literally felt like a beta for the N64 game. And the N64 game added story bits, levels, gameplay features, and allot more.

I mean zero mission in metroid only added an ending/added cutscenes, changed the level design a little (Even adding things too that the original didn't have) So even zero mission feels completely different than the first one.

Although if you are right, it was more or less a joke so it's not necessarily suppose to be taken seriously. Just reminded me of a Zero mission like game comparing it to the first.
