CrypticQuery
There's just something captivating about fluid 2D animation, and the voice acting is stellar to boot.

Fredryk Phox
I got about 25 seconds more of animation done this past few days. I just broke six minutes complete out of 12 total for the first episode's animation. It's great being over the halfway hump! I also still stream every night for about 8-10 hours while I work on the animation. Stream times vary, but I'm usually right in the middle of it around 5-10am EST.Sometimes we have Skype calls and even Drawpile sessions (basically a big multiplayer canvas everyone doodles Star Fox stuff on together). If anyone ever wants to stop by and see what's being worked on, you're always welcome. Fredryk Phox
It's easier to get voice/animation work done when everyone else in the house is asleep!
Fredryk Phox
Episode one is about 60-65% complete, so here’s some concept art from the second episode, which will be a flashback to the original Star Fox lineup.
The VGM Lover
Awesome! By the way, I'm also subscribed to your Youtube channel as well, and I feel that your channel looks good for some renovation. You got OSTs, old-works, works-in-progress, promotional, and episode pieces! If they could be separated into its own catagory, it would be much easier for subscribers to find your content and give it a like, spread the word, grow your channel! You can do that, right?

The VGM Lover
Oh. That was the channel I meant that I'm subscribed to, actually. So they are organized, then! What I mean is, you should organize the Home section as well, to make it more presentable to the curious stranger who's eventually going to check out your channel after giving a well-deserved like to one of your videos! Right?
Fredryk Phox
Here's another track I threw together, based off the SNES Space Armada music, that will be in the third episode.

Fredryk Phox
Wolf O'Donnell once again showing just how much of a dick he can be. Happy Holidays, everyone. The first episode is getting ever closer to being finished, and I've only got a little more than 3 minutes of animation to go for the 12-minute episode.
DZComposer
I don't have the details, hopefully Fred will come by and clear this up, but word on the street is that this got C&D'd. EDIT: Fred confirmed it in this Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/starfox/comments/41wf0b/star_fox_the_animated_series_has_been_hit_by/ Nintendo used to be much more receptive of fanwork. I don't know if they hired a new copyright protection agent or what, but this new trend of how Nintendo is managing their IP among fan media is concerning me both as someone who has created fanworks and as the owner of a fansite. I'm wondering if it was Fred's Patreon that got their attention. My advice to anyone creating a fanwork at this point is to be very careful when it comes to money. If it can in any way look like you're profiting off of Nintendo IP your project will likely suffer the same fate. The silver lining is that the project is not dead. It's just not Star Fox anymore. Fookes
Hm... I wonder why Nintendo would do such a thing at this time... http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/01/15/nintendo-in-2016-nx-details-anime-and-more-coming Anime? OOOOOOOOOOOOO!! DZComposer
I wouldn't read that much into this. I'd watch the shit out of a Star Fox anime, but this C&D is hardly proof of one. It's more likely the Patreon that caused it.

The VGM Lover
God, I don't know what to think anymore about this mess. () Is a Star Fox anime really a good reason to demolish a dedicated fan project? Is it not impossible there can be a series in different interpretations of the Star Fox Lore? The SNES continuity is in and of itself, an interpretation that is no longer true anyways. Everyone has the right to tell the Star Fox Story in whatever way they choose, so long as they respect who Star Fox is. Patreon or no, Star Fox The Animated Series should continue. That's what I think.

That's what I think. I must say, I am pretty ticked off at Nintendo too. Fred wasn't trying to make a profit with his project, he was only trying to make the dream many people (Including himself) had of a Star Fox cartoon being made come true! And hell knows if Nintendo is even making a SF anime! As DZ said they could've just done it because of the Patreon. And even if they WERE making a SF anime, Nintendo would basically be saying "ONLY WE CAN MAKE A STAR FOX CARTOON!! EVERYONE ELSE WHO TRIES TO MAKE ONE SHALL BE SUED!!!!11"
Drasiana
Based on Fred's Tumblr post, yeah, the Patreon is what did it. I'm a little unclear on Patreon's policies, though, I thought they got to sidestep the copyright issues with the technicality that it works on donations to the artist rather than a for-profit venture. Not to get people's hopes up too much, though, but there could very well be something to the whole anime thing. I could see Nintendo being leery about something titled "Star Fox: The Animated Series" confused with their own project. And hey, Miyamoto did say he wanted this chapter of Star Fox to feel more television-like...
DZComposer
Patreon can't absolve its members of copyright infringement unless they have been granted agency to do so by the copyright holder, which is highly unlikely to have happened.
Drasiana
What? I'm saying that the technicality is that the Patreon is not technically paying someone for fanart, it is donating to an artist who produces fan works, which is a grey area and plenty of fanartists continue to exist for it (some making ridiculous amounts of money per month off it, way more than Fred did). Fred's might have stepped over the line in the sense that it was too much "Patreon for Star Fox" instead of "Patreon for Fredryk Phox". That difference is the key here. Fredryk Phox
I'm fairly certain the kicker was me having a Patreon directly asking for money on a project called "Star Fox." I figured it would eventually happen, but I just wanted to use the actual name as long as I could, so more people would know that it's actually based on the video game. I took a several hundred dollar hit from the changeover, but a new Patreon is back up and well over my top goal again, and things are going smoothly under the new series title, "A Fox in Space." The Patreon itself states that the support I receive is solely for "Streams, live art tutorials, and animations of foxes in space." I've changed everything down to the character names on the YouTube channel because I just want to tread lightly for now, but since the Patreon doesn't even mention Star Fox or anything Nintendo-related, I think it will be safe to leave the character names unchanged when the first episode is completed. Either way, the title of the animated series will remain "A Fox in Space." For those of you that were curious, this is the email I received: -------------- Hi Matthew, Hope this message finds you well.
