Need soundcard advice

psy_commando

Question

Hey! So I'm done with all the BS I had to go through to keep running my Auzentech Prelude, and I spotted a pretty nice sale on a Sound Blaster Z. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102048

I can't find fully working drivers for the card. Or at least drivers that won't shoot ultra loud static noise and screeching through the output and then crash. Or make the microphone input sound like some kind of psychedelic music.. So I went back with an older version that occasionally causes freezes and blue screens.. Especially when using any DAWs.. Auzentech went bankrupt too, so not much hope for new drivers.. And now after I had to re-install windows, it has gotten way worse, and I even have random popping noises and etc now..

I don't have money to buy another higher-end card or even a DAC+amp, right now, but  I just want something that has at least a pretty close sound quality to the stock Prelude, doesn't blue screen my computer, and works with games and etc..

But yeah, any advice ? Has anyone had a bad experience with this particular card ? ( I know creative has a bad rep, but honestly, every soundcard makers has horrible drivers for sale.. Asus are the worst though.. )

I have the Sound Blaster Z, and it runs great. I used the Creative control panel installation disk, which has all the necessary drivers and stuff. It's a very good card for everyday gaming and music.
