HavikFox
Has anyone else picked up the new Mortal Kombat? I think I'm crazy or something, I went out and bought it the second it came out. I literally met the guys at the door of the game shop. I've spent hours on that game, there is so much to it. If anyone is into Mortal Kombat at all or just plain like fighting games, I'd recommend it. :nervous:
Leo K. Lighthouse
Mortal Combat's still releasing games? I remember it for the SNES, I haven't played it since(exepting the occasional video arcade nostalgia adventure). What's it compared to the other fighting games that are out right now i.e. Soul Calibur, or Guilty Gear?
Kal
Yeah, there's been a huge buzz about Armageddon. Know why? Picture every single character that's been in a Mortal Kombat game. Ever. Now picture them in one game. Add in create-a-character and Motor Kombat (go-kart racing?!), and you have MK:A.

HavikFox
It's my favorite Fighting game but that's just me. The different Konquest mode is also a lot of fun to play. I like it better then the Konquest Mode in Mortal Kombat: Deception. The Go-cart mini game called Motor Kombat. The perimium edition which I bought includes Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 From the arcades way back in the earier days.
Leo K. Lighthouse
Impressive but are the characters balanced, I've always hated how in Tekken, Law always is at the top of the score page... and how Astoroth can win against any character exepting maybe Ivy, Taki, or Voldo played by an expert... but I usually use that to my advantage, so I don't mind that much >_> :nervous:
Sol-Ratcht Saporro
It came out already!? Oh fecal matter.....and to think I didn't blink twice about reserving it. Hmmmm....>.>; *Jumps in a car and goes to the gamestop*
HavikFox
Impressive but are the characters balanced, I've always hated how in Tekken, Law always is at the top of the score page... and how Astoroth can win against any character exepting maybe Ivy, Taki, or Voldo played by an expert... but I usually use that to my advantage, so I don't mind that much >_> The Characters are very balanced. Everyone can kill everyone. Some of the characters are fast and weak while others are slow and powerful and ranging between all of that. Like the perivious games, you have more than one fighting style to switch from in the game. In this one you have a combat and weapon stance. Some characters like Kenshi are better in the sword stance. On the flip side, Noob is better in his combat stance. They even added in some characters like Smoke and Mokap who only have two fighting staces and no weapons. The special moves vary also. Midway did an amazing job of making this game. Sol-Ratcht Saporro
The only two things I don't like are Kreate a Fatality thing and Motor Kombat. Everything else is pretty awesome.
HavikFox
I disaree. Motor Kombat is a very entertaining mini-game. and Kreate-a-Fatality is awesome once you understand how to do it. There are tons of different things you can do to your opponents. Even somethings that only certain characters can do. Example: Scorpion and Sub-zero are the only two characters who can impale their enemies during a fatality, Sektor can sever their limbs with his pulse blades, and so on. Kal
Y'know, I was watching a vid of all the new fatalities...I noticed a lot of them were practically the exact same, or maybe a slight variation on "tear arms off and beat them with it." What happened to the uniqueness for each character? What happened to the Kiss of Death? Blowing up the world? Dropping an arcade machine on them and playing Mortal Kombat on their bloodied remains? HavikFox
Due to the amount of charactes and extras in the game, it probably blow up the drive if they tried to cram all of that into the game. They had to figure out a way to include the fatality feature so that every character can still perform finishing moves. The Kreate-a-Fatality was decided upon, it allowed tou to perform the basic principals of a Fatality. The clips on-line all show about the same Fatality. To make a crative one, you have to put a little effort into it. Besides, it's a lot harder to do Fatalities and requires more skill to pull them off. Sol-Ratcht Saporro
Yeah, I miss the simplicity of just entering a certain sequence of Joystick and button combinations and just watching the show. K-A-F is pretty redundant so I get bored to the point where I don't even do anything anymore. Motor Kombat, is okay for the first time you play it, but for me, it's like Puzzle Kombat, where I just play it every now and then. I wish they would have had brought back chess kombat. I liked that for a change.
HavikFox
I think Chess Kombat was the best mini game they came up with. And you're right, Puzzle and Motor Kombat is pretty repetitive. Playing it every once and a while, like you said, I think was the main intention of it. They figured most fans would be taken by the Kreate-A-Fighter and on-line mode. Which, might I say, Kreate-A-Fighter can keep a person occupyed for a long time. I've changed my character so much. I can't decide on one look. I do with there were more to Kreate-A-Fighter, though. I'd like to see more of a variation in the options.
Sol-Ratcht Saporro
^ I don't blame you on that one. If Kreate a Fighter was a drug, I would be a heavy addict. GAH! I can't just have one look I must have MORE! I can't help it now that I bought new stuff. I made Sailor Moon, Mars and Venus. I also made Storm, Lady Deathstrike (With the tarkatan hands....) and Chun-Li (just in a wierd outfit) You know, come to think of it, I wish that instead of characters performing a kata to the ending, they should have stuck with pictures or something..... I wanted to see an ugly Kitana! D:
HavikFox
The kata endings are probable aslo due to the limits from so many characters. I would have been great if they could have brought back the picture endings from the two previous games. It would also add for another thing to modify on Kreate-A-Fighter. How awesome would it be? I can see how they'd do it. You could select the background, which could be bought. The different positions your character could be in. Then you could go in and add other premade pics of the other MK characters. I would have also liked to be able to modify the fight screen before every fight, but I really couldn't think of a way they could do that. Well, anyways, If I worked for Midway they'd be bombarded with ideas. I'm always thinking up crazy things like this.
Sol-Ratcht Saporro
Hey Havik did you ever get the chance to play that Konquest? I dunno, it looks too long for me, and I wanted to wait for the Premium Playstation edition before I really got into beating the game.
Rogue Fox
Interesting news for all of you who do not have a Playstation or X Box and want to play Armageddon. According to Gamespot, one of the first games on the Wii will be none other than Armageddon. I just love it that you can play as every Mortal Kombat character that was ever created. HavikFox
Konquest mode was a lot of fun. I've already beaten it about twice I think. It really isn't as long as it was in the other games but it is very entertaining. Basically you travel a set course as the character Taven. As you progress you encounter the other MK characters. This is also the way to unlock characters. By beating conquest you can unlock Taven. Inorder to unlock the other characters it requires a good eye. Along the game you can find hidden items that belong to the characters. There are 60 of these artifacts. 10 unlocks Meat character 20 unlocks 20,000 Koins (Called "You are rich" It doesn't seem like much but it really a lot when you play the game.) 30 unlocks Daegon character 40 unlocks Blaze's Pyramid area 50 unlocks Blaze character 60 unlocks ... I have no idea I haven't don it yet. I have only managed to collect 56 items. (But I think I know were the last 4 are. ) It can be long if you try to find every single chest (Which include second outfits, areanas and god armor for K-A-F), but it can be short if you just run through it. It has a very interesting story and it's hard to stop playing. My only complaint is that you can only play as Taven when you fight. But he's a generic character with basic moves and is easy to learn and like.
