Thoughts on farewell beloved Falco?

For those who don't know, FBF is a Falco-centered comic that takes place between Adventures and 64.

I loved it. Certainly the best storytelling the series has to offer. I hope Nintendo releases another comic similar to this one to go with the upcoming game.

I did read a summary about it but when I finally read it, I was shocked. I liked it. There were a lot I didn't know about Starfox that was in the comic. There was also some things in the comic that I would have loved to see more of in the franchise. It was amazing. I wouldn't recommend it for younger readers just because of some of the strong language in it. They hadn't spoke that way in any of their games, not even Assault. That's my only grievance about the comic, other than that, I really like it.

I loved this comic, along with Benny's SNES one. Starfox is an excellent franchise, but like many other Nintendo franchises, it is just used in the wrong way... :)

Yeah, buddy. Me too. :)

Trust me, fanfictionfreamer, if an official translation had ever been released, they would definitely have neutered any strong language.  The only english version we have is a fan translation, to my knowledge, and as far as I know "strong" language is a much smaller issue in Japan.

Well, if that's true, then whomever this fan is must understand Japanese text very well. I'm jealous. I would love to understand how to read and speak Japanese. Also, I try not to emphasize over my grievances too much, but I have a habit of being honest, so I would only mention it once and that's it unless someone needed me to mention more about it.

Seriously, though, I wish I had a chance to see this much sooner because I really, really like it. I can't help but wonder how different things would have been if I did see it sooner. Maybe I would have picked up on some things that I needed to know at the time. Oh, well, I'll never know, but whatever. No use stressing out over something that didn't happen. At least I had a chance to see it.

Strong language is difficult to translate over language barriers.

But that's not here or there.

Either way, I freakin' love Farewell Beloved Falco. It's got a good mix of character, drama and action with some decent comic art (even if Peppy seems to be cranky as fuck for some reason) and the story is nice. Kinda like the little insight they give on Andross too, and there's even a damn sword fight.

8/10 cool beans

I'd say it's pretty good. Not as good as the first two chapters of the Itoh comic, but much better than the third chapter and the German LW comic. The artwork is fantastic, and we even get a bit of backstory with Katt and Falco's past.

Funnily enough it feels more like Star Fox 64 than Adventures despite it being a tie-in comic to the latter game. =P

I give it a 7.5/10.

Farewell, Beloved Falco was cool. The artstyle was really unique and fit the series well, and there was also the benefit of it featuring not only one of my favourite planets, but characters (yay Katt). All the stuff with Shears was neat too, it was just cool seeing a different sort of story out of Star Fox, even though yeah Peppy was weirdly cantankerous.

Remember, informal speech and/or ''rude'' speech isn't automatically profanity.

She's pretty explicitly referring to the real-actual-swearing that shows up in the fanslation, dude.

I love that comic. I hope they make a new one. Maybe to lead into SF Wii U.

Its the most well-written thing in all of Star Fox. Which is kind of sad when you think about it. But I like it. Art is nice too.

I just read it. It's alright, miles away better than those Nintendo Power comics in terms of writing and art (although still plenty derby), but not great. It did a nice job bridging the gap between 64 and Adventures, although it honestly could've been more fleshed out, especially in regards to Kat's crew and Shear's motives.

it was a nice tie-in and filled in the gap between 64 and adventures. Katt imo should join the team, as a full member.  She nearly did, in the comic.shes not one to tolerate Falco's sass, and she can make a better teammate than say slippy. plus a better balance between boys and girls is a good thing.

I personally really enjoyed the comic. It was a nice way to fill in what went on before the vents of Star Fox Adventures. Got to see a little character development too!

Hate to come back at old topics, but who remembers "Bowser" and "Mouser"from the comic? Why were they there, anyways???  :|

Nintendo cameo gags.

Same reason why the goras looks like an octorok :V

Nah. Looks like a Kirby character or whatever. Nevermind that, though...

A more elaborate answer: "Bowser" and "Mouser" (as well as Kool, the blue cat guy and that nameless funny looking robot, and Katt) are all members of the same gang: known variantly as "Free As a Bird" (this is a literal translation, a more poetic one would be something like the "Freebirds". Thank you Dras for that tidbit) and the "Hot Rodders". This is the gang of outlaws that Falco was once a leader of before he signed on with Starfox. In the Farewell comic, they stole some secret plans regarding Andross from a double agent working in the Cornerian army: Captain Shears. He labels them as Andross leftover loyalists and tries to pit Starfox against them, but they foil the plan and come out on top with Fox working with them when he learns the truth.

So, yeah. Members of Falco's old gang with Nintendo gag cameo names.
