Why has it been so difficult to find Nintendo items?  The Wii-U Gamecube adapter can't be found anywhere near MSRP, and the bundle with it, a controller, and Smash is going for slightly more than a new 3DS is.  The Amiibos are probably the worst offenders as of late though.  Finding Fox was a chore in itself, nevermind that I paid double its MSRP on the internet for him.

They're forgetting the anti-piracy additions that bite themselves in the ass.

Nintendo merch is like Bathsalts.

Addictive, expensive and the probability of you killing someone while on it is very, very high.

The only Amiibos they still seem to have in stock around here are Mario, Luigi, Peach, and occasionally Yoshi.  Since they intended to release a variety of figures I wish that they would make more of an effort to keep them in stock.  I'd love to pick up Captain Falcon (and hopefully R.O.B. and Falco if they ever come out and are in stores long enough for me to get them) if given the opportunity.

Hell, Star Fox 64 3D is now out of print and new copies are going for upwards of $70 or more.  I just bought the New 3DS XL (finally upgraded from my old DS Lite) and it was the only game that I wanted a physical copy of.  At the very least I'd expect them to keep first party titles in print for a little longer/reissue a printing order.

And no A/C adapter with the New Nintendo 3DS LOL

I love Nintendo but their decisions have been kinda weird sometimes

I really want a Fox McCloud Amiibo, but none of the retailers I visited carried him, and he costs $30 on Amazon. There's no way I am paying $30. Nintendo needs to make more figures of the characters everyone wants, instead of just having 50 Marios, 10 Zeldas, and barely any other characters.

Listen...do you hear that?

...

That is the sound of little remains of my soul escaping my mortal coil.

Nintendo, why?

New Amiibos were announced during the Nintendo Direct broadcast yesterday.  Perhaps this is a foreshadowing of things to come.  (Not to mention you still can't find the Wii U's official Gamecube controller adapter.  Thank gosh Mayflash stepped in and has a good aftermarket alternative for cheap.)

  • Owner/Technical Admin

I grabbed my Fox amiibo (the only one I currently own, and probably will only own) from my local game store. I paid normal retail for it, I asked about it and apparently, they had some hiding in the back or something. I know the owner and I'm in the store often. I kept my copy of Star Fox 3DS when I got it, won't ever sell it.

I have yet to pick up a Wii U, I don't think I will until StarFox comes out. I just dropped $400+ on my Xbox One and a few games (GTA V, Watchdogs, COD Ghosts). Luckily I had a bonus that paid for the system.

A friend was kind enough to give me his copy of SF643D since I only recently picked up the new 3DS and it was the only game that I wanted a physical copy of.  I think that I'm in the same boat with the Wii U; it is getting more tempting day by day, but I am invested in Sony exclusives as well and it seems like there is a Ratchet and Clank game on the way for the PS4.  At least Mayflash has put out a Wii U Gamecube Controller Adapter that is in stock on Amazon, of relatively good quality, and at a decent price point compared to the imported official Nintendo ones ($19 vs $52+).

I had to buy my Fox amiibo on Amazon for about $27.  Considering how little Star Fox merchandise Nintendo has put out over the years, I am not ashamed.  I'm not opening it though; I like the art on the cardboard backing and opening it would damage it.

In other news, I'm sure we all saw this coming.  It's good to know that the comic in the OP is still accurate, although it's a shame.

SF643D was a used Gamestop find when I was looking for games for my then-new 3DSXL I got as a gift about 2 years ago. Good choice.

But yeah, Amiibos are hard to come by. Got any more of them Fox McCloud Amiibos?

Protip: buy amiibos over Amazon or something. Import from japan if you must, they're not region locked AFAIK. NoA has really fucked up their supply needs.

People are certainly voicing their opinions to NoA's Twitter account.  The fact that their supply chain is this screwed (not to mention that they still haven't brought over more goddamn official Wii U Gamecube Adapters) is hilariously sad.

Uh oh. It looks like Yoshi got caught hiding eggs before Easter. Which do you want in your Easter basket?

Destructoid ran a great article about their experience attempting to find Wave 4 amiibos.  A shame you can't find anything from any of the waves unless it's Mario, Peach, Yoshi, or Luigi.

My local walmart has Links and Pikachus and other non-Mario sutff, but eh, luck of the draw.

I've seen Greninja and like the standard four at Toys'R'Us...es? and a couple Gamestops/Independents. I can see where the frustration comes from.
