^ I agree with you completely on the StarWolf choice. I hope they go after Command ( I know it was a terrible game, but it was StarFox non the less and excluding it just doesn't sit right with me).If they put her on StarWolf then it will defiantly cause some tension between the two teams which will make the game more interesting. Also Nintendo, no more 5000 endings. This isent Mass Effect

It honestly wouldn't be hard to fix the sex object issue...Quit giving her retarded outfits. Not complaining about the original outfit in Adventures because it was kind of part of the whole game setting and I do enjoy the eye candy, but seriously, when you become a legitimate mercenary piloting a ship in the best team in the entire galaxy, you don't need the tightest and impractically fitted outfit then design the outfit so its basically like blue body paint with a strange looking bra that just accentuates the fact that she is a girl. In designing an actual outfit that is more modest and functional it could shed the issue of everyone seeing her as just furry bait and someone they can actually relate to being in a mercenary group.

At first I assumed Krystal's flight suit was something similiar to a mechanical counter pressure space suit (uses the squeezing of the suit to provide pressure rather than air), but there are no gloves, or a place where a helmet would attach, which are obviously quite vital for a space suit. I guess they could stick with this design, providing they make it look more like a space suit rather than the no other-real-purpose-than eye-candy skin tight design. In reality the entire team should wear full pressure suits when in their arwings during space flight. Perhaps she could recieve something similiar to a regular flight uniform.

My big question is, why did they have to make Marcus look like the spawn of satan? I mean seriously...LOOK AT THOSE EYES! HE WANTS TO EAT YOUR SOUL!

End2-2.png

(Looking at the cartoony design of Command again makes me hurt a little)

The blue fox doesn't bother me or that its a male, but seriously did they have to make it look so possessed? As in..."KILL IT WITH FIRE!" possessed. Personally the Marcus McCloud ending where he takes over StarFox feels like it was intended to be a reboot, and also the worst ending imo. Whoops, we messed up Fox and gang, so here comes another version of StarFox team! This time with the old-timer being badass Falco Lombardi (probably the only ounce of cool in the entire thought of Marcus starting a new StarFox team). I can deal with Kursed and Krystal going to StarWolf I guess, but Marcus, eughhhh.....As I said though, I feel like maybe they were opening up the possibility of a reboot of the entire franchise which I can partially sympathize with because Fox can only get so old before he has to retire like Peppy did - which is why I said I wouldn't mind seeing a "Farewell Beloved Falco" based game...just so they wouldn't have to worry about aging Fox to a point of it being goofy for him to a mercenary with all of his honor intact. It is a bit of a predicament.

I would buy that excuse if that's what the developers/designers were going for...but Fox, Peppy, Slippy, nor Falco wear a similar outfit. Only Falco seems to wear a flight suit that is somewhat tighter fitting. I get this feeling though, that if all of the team members had this pressurized suit, then either it would be worn underneath something more durable and functional, or it would quickly debunk the game to people not wanting Fox to wear some form fitted flight suit. Talk about a new level of anti-furry angst.

Tooons of tension. Lots of wiggle room too for either making her a hated but respected character like Wolf or Leon (no...not Panther), or giving her a period of redemption and character building before being put back in StarFox team for obvious reasons. Ooh maybe then they can throw in Fara Phoenix and her and Kyrstal can get into cat fights over Fox...I have in the past suggested that Kyrstal and Fox need to be separated to develop better personalities and characters with each other apart. Maybe that separation should be caused by her joining StarWolf

(I feel kind of bad that I seem to post pretty long and frequent responses to this thread :/ )

That is a GREAT idea. I would love to see Fara enter the next game. And ya, Krystal need a lot of character development. Maybe they can explain her past in the next game ( fingers crossed)

I think Star Fox needs more of an edge, not "Rated M for Mature" edge, but kind of like how the Mega Man X series relates to the original series. I think Slippy needs to grow up and pull a somersault on his pursuing enemy.

It would definitely make it more appealing to an older generation who may have once played the game, or could just gain interest because it would look more "bad ass". I don't recall if any of the games are rating T, but if they are, they need to maybe notch it up a bit more to keep the younger fans who's parents don't see the harm and an older crowd.

I figured maybe leave Slippy as the poor pilot, but let his scientific and mechanical prowess reach beyond simply telling how much health an enemy has...let him come up with schematics for new weapons or customizations for the Arwings. That sounds much more in character for him I think and would let the game go an interesting direction in allowing personalized ships to try and complete levels :D

Hi i'm new here and just recently got into Star Fox games (after playing Smash Bros for a long time.) Do you think they are definitely going to bring out another game? I'm worried they wont because the way they ended star fox command (with multiple endings) makes me think they wouldn't, because I mean the can't just randomly pick one can they? But I do remember reading somewhere that the next star fox game development would depend on the sales of Star Fox 64 3DS and how well it did.

Also, if they were going to continue it, I think I remember reading from somewhere that it would take place after Assault and before Command. I don't really like this to be honest, because I want to know what happens in the end :/. I wish Star Fox command was not canon.

Well I shall be first to welcome you then I suppose, Mulecc! Feel free to post an introductory thread in the Welcome Wagon forum section.

As you might have read, I hold the belief that the game can easily continue after Command, there are a lot of open endings that could be worked with in my opinion, but I am fully aware that the game itself was considered so bad that most fans don't want it. If it gives you any hope, you can think back on the fact that Star Fox 1/Lylat Wars and Star Fox 2 (unreleased) are not canon! Star Fox 64 is intended to be considered the TRUE beginning of the game series and the canon. With this in mind, its easy to picture any developer deciding to cut out parts of the franchise like Command and consider it non-canon. Now, if one were to go back and try to cut out Assault and especially Adventures, you might want to consider a reboot...or a re-release of Star Fox 64 with whatever changes they see fit to make it a marketable item. It should be noted however that a 'reboot' from Star Fox Command is entirely possible with Marcus McCloud and Falco...but then they would have to come up with some way of killing off Fox and Krystal I suppose and that wouldn't be very popular I imagine.

There is a possibility of another Star Fox game already in the making actually. Retro Studios has supposedly been working on a project that everyone wants to see from Nintendo...And after seeing a poll clearly decide Star Fox as a franchise that fans want to see, and after comments that Retro Studios and even Nintendo (Miyamoto among others is quoted on Wikipedia as having an active interest in another Star Fox game) has released it is entirely possible its a Star Fox game they are working on. It was a tense E3 for me personally as I was really looking forward to seeing something come up about it, but as far as I can tell there are no new rumors surfacing.

You do have to give Nintendo some credit with Star Fox Command...they learned a lesson. We don't want a linear game like Assault. We want something with replay value, and they succeeded with that in Command, but either they were planning on killing off the franchise or try to give it a reboot because all other endings really sucked (ok, I am actually a fan of Dash Makes a Daring Move or whatever its called since it has a lot of promise.). Now, if only they could learn a lesson that we really don't care for motion controls, don't want a linear game, good multiplayer (they are doing much better on with SF), lengthy game, and maybe a bit more grit and mature direction, oh, and don't want crappy stories that either blows away the Star Fox team or ...wait...that's all they did :/ . They will have to leap a hurdle in dealing with Krystal admittedly.

First off, welcome Mulecc to the site.

Secondly, Command sucked and failed as a game. I also believe it was a way to kill off the series while giving everybody what they wanted in the end ( reason for multiple endings). But, I still think they should base the next game off a Command ending. I would prefer if they go after the 3rd ending ( Krystal leaves the team, again,to join Star Wolf) or maybe even the 1st one ( the team gets back together and they live happily ever after). Dash makes a choice ( I believe that the one your talking about sroberson) would be ok but it sound like it would lead to another Lylat war, thus creating Star Fox64+ Krystal. It would seem like a waste of a game, even though it already is, to just throw Command away. And if you reboot the series that's a waste of three games.

Hopfully Retro is working on Star Fox, the series needs a come back :(

Thanks for your answers (and welcoming ,^^ you all seem friendly) I just read on the front page thought about the cross over between fox and samus (by retro). If that is the next game and there wouldn't be a star fox game in development after I would be upset :/.

That rumor got disproved ( thank god), it was simply an idea that got tossed around inside the company. We still don't know what Retro is working on and they said it will be a while until they reveal it.

Yeah that's the ending I was thinking of, I just couldn't come up with the name immediately. I guess you are right, while it has room to develop another game and story line very easily it would be almost like rebooting Star Fox just without Peppy and all of the team members are older (though I thought Dash Makes a Choice assumes Krystal is NOT a member of Star Fox and instead perhaps a member of Star Wolf. I haven't played the game, but I am led to believe that since Fox never teams up with her in that ending she never rejoins Star Fox). But maybe that's exactly what is needed since fans just started diverging at Adventures, pro/anti-foot missions, pro/anti-Krystal, etc. etc. I suppose divergence in fandom of a franchise is bound to happen regardless though... I recall someone here once saying "I wish American fandom was like Japanese fandom, they accept everyone regardless of opposing opinion and just look forward to seeing another installment to their franchise of choice".

On a slightly related topic regarding Star Fox speculation and ideas...One of the newer threads just stared by O'Donnell regarding Star Wolf 2.0 has some interesting directions to run with as far as new game development I think. I think it could fall after Assault or Command, just depends on what they do with characters (aka, if after Assault, then Star Wolf could get a new character, if after Command, Star Wolf gets Krystal and then plot line continues). Has room for developing Star Wolf which makes some fans happy, room for developing Krystal which could make some detractors happy, and it still hovers around the familiar plot of Star Fox vs. Wolf. Check it out! Discussion here would be cool: http://starfox-onlin...m-star-wolf-20/

I honestly feel like Star Fox Assault was headed in the right direction, I just feel the execution is what kind of marred the gameplay for some. I know for a fact there are great third-person shooters out there, and if the on-foot missions were treated with a better control scheme it could really work. Add to that the Arwing and Landmaster controlling as it did in Star Fox 64 (not moving slowly as it did in Assault) and this game would be a dream.

I think it'd be great to have more freedom for navigation as well. Much like Jet Force Gemini (or Star Fox 2 for that matter) you could go to any planet at any given time, just as long as you'd first unlocked a possible route to that planet (for example, battling through a starship that blocks the path from one planet to another). Nonlinearity paired with a variety of different missions would really liven it up. The thing we should be aiming for is a game that people would describe as "too good to be true" we just need to know what it takes to reach that status. Character select, multiple routes, missions, endings, unlockables, etc. I also think it could benefit from a deeper storytelling perspective, something that would make it that much more of an immersive experience.

While the topic is already said, I assumed the suits Krystal had one were a body armor of some sort, like something a racing motorcyclist would wear. Falco and Leon both had designs that had the same idea in Assault. Krystal's was just girly.

Assualt is my favorite game of the series, and also think it's the best direction for future games. While the score attack style of 64 is great, it grinds at times compared to most current games, and I prefer the way Assault breaks things up and asks for exploration.

But I do very much like the non-linearity of 64, and I don't necessarily dislike the idea of multiple endings, but it only really works in two ways. One is if there is a clear path that's the right ending (which Command sorely lacks), like possible bad endings if you make a crucial error or lose a certain battle. The other is having minor variants of the same ending, like an expanded "perfect" ending that takes extra work to earn.

This will happen next E3:

"My name is Reggie. I'm about kicking ass, taking names, making memes, and we're about making games. Star Fox is one of our big franchises, big guns, if you will. Well, if your body is ready for this new game for our new console, where you can barrel roll all over again. I can announce today, that [drumroll] STAR FOX 64 HD will come to the Americas on December third! But I don't need an Arwing to kick ass and take names. Back to you, Jesus Non-Specific Action Figure!"

Jeth already said this, but there's just one thing I would want in a new SF game: The wingmen being of some ACTUAL help. Not just flying around occassionally hitting something and saying Fox, I need help. I mean they should all be able to fly pretty well, shouldn't they?

While I do like the idea of a new Star Fox game being released in 2013, I still think that's a bit too early; I'd say give it a year or two more to get into a development cycle of sorts (Although it may ALREADY be in that cycle). Likewise, if they release a collection, I think it would bring the Star Fox franchise back JUST A SMALL BIT because I think that with a release of a collection - like Star Fox 64 3D - would make it clear the SF series isn't dead.

Although I liked Adventures and Assault, I think it would be best to reboot from where SF/SF64 left off. Adventures and Assault left their own plotholes and I don't think that the series REALLY needed them - although the designs for the characters were a bit cool and "different."

My thoughts on a next Star Fox game: I would like to see a spin-off to mix things up a bit. For instance, aside from the numerous endings in SFC - which I believe could have a been a bit more diverse than they were - I'd like to see something like being the eyes and actions of Oikinny as he rose from being a small-time guy in Andross' army to being in Star Wolf, and ultimately in his own army. Show a little more insight on his role in Andross' army, how he matured over the years, maybe even show scenes where the player would take control of Andrew as he flew in a small armada of Venomian forces attacking the Cornerians?

Another idea would be (This may sound Call of Duty-ish, so I'm sorry. I'm not a fan, but I like their storylines) where the player is a Cornerian/Venomian soldier and it would go through stuff like basic training as a tutorial to get the controls down, introduction to most of the characters, and possibly some cameos of the Star Fox/Star Wolf team. Then, it would go into several scenarios where the soldier would have to make emergency boarding sequences and he/she would have to engage the enemies in short notice. Something like being on a frigate in space, it's being under attack, the soldier would have to storm through different areas all the while making his way passed crewman scrambling passed him, up until he gets to the hangar where rows of ships were being launched once a light would go off, followed by a loud alarm - another row would come up and launch the ships, and vice-versa.

Likewise, on the ground, he/she might be ingaged heavily by enemy forces and would have to make their way through the battlefield while evading artillery rounds, gunfire, etc. etc., until they would be able to reach a weapon emplacement, or heavy vehicle - that, or a light vehicle to do support missions, like going and retrieving injured squadmates.

The game would all be set in third-person/over-the-shoulder since I'm a big fan of those and the reason being that there are becoming WAYYY too many first-person-shooters. Although it would be a new look at Star Fox had the next game be in first-person, I think that the reviewers and gamers alike would overlook it by seeing it as another title doing the FPS-trend. So, my best bet is to leave the game like it was in third-person and DON'T try to mix it up again.

I can come up with numerous ideas, but those two were the two that stood out to me. I would have mentioned a storyline with Kursed, but that would get me punched in the nutts and burned at the stake.

Yeah, I want to see a game with Kursed too.

BUT I don't want to get punched in the nutts and burned at the stake.... So forget I said this............ This post never happened.

Krock, you are forgiven. Have a cookie.

Krystal in full-on bitch mode was easily the most she had developed as a character beyond the lovable (YMMV) Mary-Sue she is, so Kursed might work as a concept. If the default ending of Command is the jumping off point of the next game, she'd be heading in that direction, anyway. Since I played Command first, seeing her simple and sweet self in Assault was outright jarring, and I thought she was really boring for a long time.

It would also be a perfect excuse for Fara, Miyu, or Fay to suddenly appear.
