CrypticQuery
http://kotaku.com/hollywood-is-planning-a-five-nights-at-freddys-movie-1696356202 The background story present in the games is pretty intricate when examined thoroughly and could support a film IMO. A movie adaptation will surely take some clever writing and directing to get right as there are quite a few ways one could go about the film's direction though. I'm glad to see that the games' developer, Scott Cawthon, is involved in some capacity, and I look forward to seeing how this turns out. Hopefully the source material won't be completely butchered, as Hollywood tends to do with game adaptations. Having Roy Lee as the producer does make me feel a bit better though. His filmography is impressive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Lee#Filmography
Pgpaw3
OK, as much as I don't like the games and think they have been shat out like after a big night at Taco Bell, this could actually be OK if done right. However, it's hollywood making a video game movie, so assuming it actually happens, chances are it will be shithouse.
Drasiana
Roy Lee has produced a lot of good horror movies and this could be a good horror movie. Cautiously optimistic!

CrypticQuery
Some of the fanmade shorts/animations already out there are quite good on that note - hopefully the movie will successfully capture the spirit of the games.
ArwingFan
Don Bluth should animate it

Battlechili
How much further are we going to take gaming and internet fads is the better question to ask. Well, they're making a Minecraft movie so anything can and will happen.
Robert Monroe
I wanna be cautiously optimistic because it wouldn't be impossible to make a FNaFs movie thing and stay true to the feel of what the game is - kitschy, uncanny "anti-art". But that doesn't make money and FNaF has one of the most exploitable teenybopper fanbases in recent memory so it'll probably just be some shit shlock run of the mill "dumb people get killed by X" set in a Chuck E. Cheese knock off. That's 80s style fake TV spot has the right idea, though. Sadly I doubt any big name movie studios are gonna know that.

DZComposer
A disgruntled employee killed 4 and wounded one in a Chuck E Cheese in Colorado. Some have speculated the incident is the inspiration for Purple Man, though in the real incident no kids were shot.
CrypticQuery
A disgruntled employee killed 4 and wounded one in a Chuck E Cheese in Colorado. Some have speculated the incident is the inspiration for Purple Man, though in the real incident no kids were shot. The Game Theory episode below further elaborates upon this possibility. Perhaps this served as part of the original inspiration for the Purple Man as a character - the game's lore has picked things up and taken them in equally crazy directions though, not to mention that this is just one interpretation of events. I think that it's a stretch to compare the victims of the murders to each individual animatronic character, though the overarching theme surely had something to do with the game's inception. (Some of the conclusions made in the video have been disproved/discredited with the release of subsequent games and expansion of the background story.) (It should auto start at 2:27, but if not skip there.)

Clearwater
WAT. THE. HELL. :o :o How much further are we going to take gaming and internet fads is the better question to ask. Hey, FnaF has become one of the biggest 'Net sensations of last year. You should be happy for it. I'm not forcing you to like it, I'm just sayin', is all. LazerMaster5
Considering how there is an Angry Birds movie in the pipelines despite the fact they are 5 years late to the fad, I guess you can make a movie out of just about anything.
hoo
Guys, at least we aren't getting a Flappy Bird movie.
Dr. Orange
Real talk tho about this. It has to be really scary. I'm talking ungodly scary. Insidious + Poltergeist + The Cabin in the Woods. Only then would I see the movie. Not because of FNaF. Not because of horror movies. But because the mixture of this fan base goes from 7 - whatever. I'd just love to see little kids get into the theater hoping it's their favorite video game and come out like they'd just witnessed the TNT filled train ride from Hell of burning amputee victems.
