Naza Sutera
~ ~ ~Kiersey and Max watched as their dad took part in an explosive exchange. He and about three other people were quarreling with some Hyena guy as he was getting into some electric blue muscle car. Trying his damnedest to convince the man not to operate the vehicle in his condition. She sipped on her cinnamon caramel apple pie milkshake as the guy blew up on her dad and his opposers, yelling something about how they need to mind their own effing business. Slurring his words too. Derek was one of the people to throw his hands up and relinquish. There were two remaining when Derek and another man walked away from the situation. Entering the breakfast diner, Derek walked back to the booth with his son and daughter.Still standing, he said "Welp, I did my part as a good samaritan." he took out his phone. "Kiersy, call the police.""And, what are you about to do?" Why couldn't he call the police? Because if he's going to do what she think he's going to do, then she's going to lose all respect for him..."I'm going to record this asshole."Kiersey rolled her eyes. "LORD, have mercy," she said as she dug into her purse for her phone.
Arminius H O Fiddywinks
Jacob's patience was running thin with the belligerent drunk. "Sir," he said, now having an annoyed voice. "Please, think about what you're doing. You really want to drive in your state?""I can do whatever the crap I want, Katinan!" slurred the drunk, leaning against his car. "Now, take that little horn of yours and STICK IT UP YOUR ASS! RIGHT UP THERE!" He pointed his finger to the sky."Fine," said Jacob, giving up on the drunk. "If you want to die, I won't stop you. Good bye.""Yeah," said the drunk victoriously. "Run away, Rhino Boy! Run, run, run!!" He then stumbled into his car as Jacob walked back inside the diner and back to his seat on the counter, where his pancakes awaited him."If he doesn't want to listen to the voices of reason, so be it," Jacob said to Derek as he passed by his booth. The rhinoceros sat back down on his stool, and sliced off a piece of pancake with his knife. He used his fork and impaled the piece, and consumed it. Korben drove down the avenue at a brisk speed of 30 miles an hour, his Mercedes Benz humming along as it turned heads. The Septimanian Palms adorning the avenue offered a great respite of shade from the powerful sun, and their blue leaves blended in with the clear sky. Korben was listening to the song "Aerodynamic" by Daft Punk, one of his favorite songs, when he received a call from his concierge sidekick, Tony. He answered the call vocally."Answer," commanded Korben. "This is Dallas.""Hey, Boss," began Tony, his aged gravelly voice seemed to crackle over the phone, "we've got a call. It's a regular.""Who?""Mr. Mancini. You know, that Zonessian bodybuilder." Korben rolled his eyes, as Mr. Mancini was a hypochondriac."Got it," said Korben. Zaphyr Stone
"Step on the scale for me please." Jolene's voice was a sweet chirp as she directed the teenage girl, who was in for a physical made mandatory for an athletics program at her school. She was adjusting well for her first day at her new job. The staff was nice. The establishment was up-to-date. Yes, everything was going well so far. Dressed in pale pink scrubs, a stethoscope draped around her neck, she was hardly recognizable from her usual garb. She fiddled with the slider on the scale and recorded the number on the patient's form. "Great, you can step down now. When was your last cycle?""About two weeks ago." the girl answered, straightening out her shirt."All right," she jotted down the information, "And are you pregnant?"The girl raised a brow quizzically.Jolene laughed. "I know, I know. I have to ask, sorry.""No..." she answered, clearly perturbed.Jolene shook off the attitude-packed response and smiled. "All right, if you'll just follow me, I'll show you to the examination room."She led the girl down the hall and through a door in the middle of a line of doors. The examination room was pretty standard, a cushioned bench lined with wax paper, a small desk/cabinet/rolling stool combination, and a biohazard waste box tacked to the wall. The girl hopped up onto the table, the paper crackling underneath her as she shifted around to get comfortable. Jolene asked a few more questions to finish up her form before taking her leave. The doctor would see to her shortly. She walked over to the nurses' station and logged on to a computer so she could input the patient's info. Yes, so far everything was running smoothly. Naza Sutera
"I know one thing," Derek said, responding to the rhinoceros, " He'd better not hit my damn car, his drunk ass." He stood with his phone in hand, pointed out the window at the electric-blue sports coupe."I'd like to report a drunk driver," Kiersey said to the first responder as she watched the car outside creep forward, randomly hitting the brakes as if the driver was trying to figure out which pedals did what. "...We're currently at the IHOP on Ferruccio Boulevard in La Catalina, and he is driving a blue..." Kiersey wasn't the best at identifying cars. "Uh, um, a blue Dodge... Camaro?""Chevy Camaro," Derek corrected her.Hell, Kiersey didn't know. They both looked the same to her, that Dodge muscle car and the Camaro. "It's a blue Chevy Camaro."The driver got a little more confident and began to increase speed as he got closer to the exit of the car park. Derek ran outside to record the disaster in the making. The Camaro pulled a wide right onto the boulevard, steering the relatively small car like it was a dreadnaught. Once the car got a little farther down the road, the vehicle signaled to make a left turn. The brake lights flashed as the driver tapped the pedal, making Derek think he was going to stop at the red light, but wasn't surprised when the car rolled past the light and into the intersection. Derek suddenly got a dreadful feeling in the pit of his stomach when he saw another car crossing into the intersection. "Oh, god."POP!The sound wasn't like the movies and television made it sound, like the blinding sounds of screeching tires and an explosion of crunching metal and splintering glass. Sure you could hear twisted metal and broken glass, but for the most part, it was a really loud pop or bang noise. It a morbidly fascinating and backwards kind of way, it sounded impressive. The Camaro was turning in the opposite direction of which the crossing car was coming, so when they hit, the Camaro leapt into the air and turned almost a full 180 degrees. The hood buckled, and the front fascia--the headlights, front bumper, the grille--was snatched off and scattered into the street. Steam hissed as it billowed out of the muscle car's busted radiator, and coolant leaked out of the wreckage, leading to the gutter and into the storm drain."You get all that, dad?" Kiersey asked, standing behind her father, bearing witness to the accident as he did."Yeah." With that, Derek took off running down the street to the scene. Arminius H O Fiddywinks
Korben was caught completely unawares. He looked in the direction where the Camaro was approaching from. It was only a momentary blur, and Korben was unable to finish his thought: Oh shit. The Camaro rammed into the driver's side of Korben's Silver Lightning, crushing the super car's side. The airbags were of little help. Luxury before safety was the mantra of Korben's vehicle. Pieces of metal twisted and contorted out of place, and one of those pieces pierced Korben in his left side. He cried out in agony as the windshield cracked into a snow flake. The side windows almost vaporized, and some pieces embedded themselves shallowly into Korben's left arm and chest. When the whole destructive scene was over, a mere few seconds passed before Korben started to utter blood-curdling screams of agony. There were more to his wounds than just cuts and impalements. He had broken several ribs, and dislocated his shoulder. Korben looked to the Camaro in between screams, only to find the driver unconscious at his wheel, with shards of glass sticking into his shoulders. "Boss!" yelled Tony over the phone. "Sensors just registered an accident. You okay?""Get here!" ordered Korben. He placed his hands on the protruding piece of metal in his side, and pushed himself out of its grasp, crying out in pain. The wound was bleeding terribly, and he attempted to put pressure on it. However, he needed help."Got it, Boss!" replied Tony."Oh no!" said Jacob as he dashed out of the IHOP. He ran as fast as he could to the wrecks, and found the drunk unconscious at his wheel. Jacob reached into the shattered side window and unlocked the door. He opened it, and carried the drunk out of the car. As Derek approached, he told him, "Take care of this man!" Jacob then went to the Silver Lightning. Seeing the driver's side door crumbled, he went to the passenger side door and unlocked it by reaching through the broken window, as well. Korben was still screaming, his blood staining the luxurious leather seats and flooring of the car. Jacob skipped asking if the man was hurt."Get me out!" said Korben. Jacob nodded, and dragged Korben out, with the latter screaming in agony as his body was pulled out of his car. Jacob carried Korben to the middle of the street, a few feet from his ruined car. "Pressure... here!" Korben gestured to the wound incurred by the piece of metal. "Bag..." He then pointed back to the car. Jacob went to the hunk of twisted metal, stained with blood. He found a bag on the floor of the passenger side, and grabbed it. Jacob went back to Korben, and placed the bag next to the wounded beaver. "Bandages..." Jacob rummaged through the bag until he found some bandages, and placed some on the wound. "Keep it there," commanded Korben weakly. He groaned, the pain holding its iron grip on his body. Naza Sutera
"--Hold this, hold this," Derek said, shoving his phone to his daughter. "Just stand back and record."Kiersey took the phone and did as she was told, filming the aftermath of the scene. Derek, having more decency than the drunkard deserved, sat the him up against his car, rather than let him lay upon the searing hot pavement. He checked the man's pulse, making sure he was alive. The man was in fact breathing; Derek could smell the liquor on his breath."Are you okay? Say something.""Wuuuuhhhhhgggg...." The man was starting to come to. "...Wha... Wha happened?""You caused an accident, you jack-ass," Derek said bluntly, making no effort to spare the man's feelings. What he was in for, having his feelings hurt was the least of his worries. Arminius H O Fiddywinks
Korben impatiently waited for Tony has he was still bleeding all over a La Catalina street. Jacob pressed hard on Korben's wounds, and Korben still groaned in pain, and his breathing was becoming rapid. The world around him was fading slowly, and he noticed himself slipping in and out of unconsciousness. He did not intend on dying right now, and was fighting for every breath. At that moment, Korben stared at the sky, hoping that Tony would suddenly pop in the scene. He noticed a solitary cloud, misshapen from the winds in the air. He watched as it freely and uncaringly floated along the blue cloth that was the sky. He saw it block out the sun, and then reveal it once more. The cloud was a white little entity, unconscious, yet ever so peaceful. One admires the little things when on the edge of death.
Monokuma
Merely driving past that intersection in a pickup truck moments before the accident, a German Shepherd seen driving with a brown bear and a blue 'animal' in the back, holding on, halts to pull over to see the damage and gets out of the car rushing to the wreck, with the passenger window opening to reveal a cat carefully peering out towards the scrap heap. The Shepherd rushed to the one most in peril for the time being, that person being Korben. Speaking to the person on top of Korben first while kneeling down himself, handing him a roll of bandages from his satchel. "If ya wanna, go and toss these to another person in this crash, if not, then please keep applying pressure and possibly assist in most ways?" His head turned to the person dying on the ground, applying his odd humor, even in near death. "Pardon the intrusion, but may get your name and such details, so I can put a sticky note on your head for I.D and treatment? Name's Dumont, but I dunno if you're in shape for speech....Blink in morse code, perhaps? OH! Signing is okay too!"
Arminius H O Fiddywinks
Korben, partly annoyed and partly amused by this Shepherd's comic reliefs of the situation at hand, groaned. He then proceeded to reach into his pocket, a monumental feat at the time. His breathing became more rapid here as he fought back the pain of moving his arm. From his pocket came two black identification tags, its lettering tinted gold. He gripped them tightly, and placed his fist containing the tags on his chest."Dallas, Korben David. Sergeant. Serial no. BG-421-500." Korben then heard a familiar gravelly voice: Tony."I'm here Boss!" he yelled as he rushed to Korben's side. Tony, an aged spotted eagle-owl wearing sunglasses, a white shirt with rolled-up sleaves, black slacks, and deceptively cheap dress shoes. hopped out of his black Crown Victoria with a bag in hand and rushed to Korben's side. "EMS is on the way!" Korben nodded in approval. "Whaddya need me to do?""Painkillers... Now...""Got it Boss." Tony then pulled out a syringe full of specialized painkillers Korben developed without the addictive costs of morphine. The syringe looked more like a small flashlight with a tiny needle on the end, flanked by two green-lit objects. These were meant to numb the injection area. Tony placed the syringe against Korben's neck, and injected the painkillers. Almost instantly, Korben's groaning ceased, and he began to breathe more normally. "Hey man," Tony said to Jacob, "lemme take over. I got this.""You're sure?" inquired Jacob with a concerned voice."Yep. And uh, thanks." Jacob then gave up his duty to Tony, who replaced the bloody bandages with sterilized, clean ones. He put pressure on Korben's side wound, and secured it with surgical tape. Tony then attempted to remove the glass shards from Korben's shoulders and left arm."No, no!" warned Korben."Okay, Boss," replied Tony. After a few tense moments of examination, where Tony detected Korben's broken bones, he once again began to speak."Now we wait, huh?" asked Tony, knowing that EMS could get him to a hospital safely enough. Korben nodded 'Yes'. Tony then adjusted his sunglasses, and sat by Korben. He took out a cigarette, and a Zippo, lighting the former with the latter. He put the Zippo away and blew out a few clouds of smoke. Tony then looked up, and noticed the same cloud Korben was studying."You've been eyeing that cloud for some time, haven't you?" questioned Tony, his gravelly voice crackling between puffs of smoke. "When someone's on the edge of death, they tend to focus on the beautiful little things in this Universe. The way they're laying there, what they ate for breakfast... the clouds. They're either trying to make up for lost time admiring the environment around them, or they just wanna focus on something other than dying. I did that when I was diagnosed with lung cancer. Even though now I've got artificial lungs, I still do that. You know why?" Korben looked at Tony, a student of his philosophical musings."Because I learned the beauty of living. I took notice of the wonderful chance I've got to see the world around me for what it truly is: beautiful. You're a bit young to think like this, but maybe someday, you can learn how wonderful life is." Zaphyr Stone
The steady whir of sirens grew louder as police and an ambulance arrived on scene. Two EMTs hurried out onto the scene. A dark German Shepherd saw to Korben. "Hey, pal, we're gonna get you out of here. Can you tell me your name?" he asked as he examined the beaver's injuries, impressed that some of which were already being tended to.
Arminius H O Fiddywinks
Korben turned his head to the EMT speaking to him. "Korben Dallas," he answered. However, Korben was drifting in and out of consciousness, as he had lost a substantial amount of blood by now."Goddammit, I gotta get up now..." complained Tony, struggling to stand up on his legs. Time was not kind to him. "Hey Boss, you all right?" asked Tony, looking down on Korben. Korben nodded slowly. "Well, I'll stay with you and make sure these guys actually handle you properly." Korben smiled.
Zaphyr Stone
"All right, I'm gonna give you some air. Just breathe normally." The technician strapped an oxygen muzzle over Korben's snout, making sure he was comfortable. The other EMT, some kind of mixed-breed canine, hurried back with a stretcher. They set a count before transferring the beaver to the stretcher and began to strap him in securely."The other driver is already loaded. Let's get this one in and hurry back to the ER."The Shepherd nodded, and the pair loaded Korben into the back of the ambulance. The police could handle things from here. Arminius H O Fiddywinks
Tony sat beside Korben while the ambulance sped towards Cleon Medical Center, its place of origin and the nearest hospital. Tony took out his phone from his pocket, and selected a contact labeled "Father C". The speed dial immediately contacted Bohdan, who was relaxing in an internet cafe. His strong, black coffee was just right for Bohdan, and he sat at a proportionally small chair at a table by the window. His Surface was utterly obsolete, and it belonged in a museum. However, he could not part ways with his antique. He was glued to an internet chat room when his phone began vibrating in the right pocket of his dark blue jeans. He pulled it out, and noticed it was Tony, Korben's right-hand man. Knowing that Tony would only call him when Korben was in trouble, he hastily answered it."Hello, this is Bohdan," answered Bohdan, putting the phone on speaker and placing it on the phone."Uh, hi Mr. C.," began Tony, bouncing up and down in his seat. "This is Tony. Korben got in an accident, and he's injured. But don't worry, he's alive.""Oh my God. Well, give thanks to that.""Yeah, well anyway, we're gonna be heading to Cleon Medical Center on 6th and Farnsworth. I'll tell you what room when we get there.""Yes, yes, I shall call the others and head there immediately.""All right, see you there." Bohdan hung up, left the chat room, closed his Surface and stuffed it in his backpack, and stuffed his phone in his pocket. Carrying his cup of coffee, he stood up and left the cafe. He hopped into his massive Aventador, and turned the car on. Before he left, however, he called Elizabeth on his cell, which he had pulled out again when he entered his sports car. Elizabeth, who was watching Sandor play with Salamon in a park, answered this call."Hello," she said almost monotonously, as it was so commonplace to begin a phone call with that saturated word, 'Hello'."Elizabeth, Korben has been involved in an accident," began Bohdan, "and he is being rushed to Cleon Medical Center." Before Bohdan could even begin to continue, Elizabeth hung up, and yelled to Sandor."Alex!" she shouted. "Korben's in trouble! He's going to Cleon MC!" Sandor nodded, and picked up his child and dashed to his McLaren parked on the curb. Elizabeth rushed to her Shelby GTO. Both turned their cars on, and they roared to life. The duo shot down the street, and towards Cleon Medical Center.
Zaphyr Stone
Korben was rushed to the ER as quickly as possible, nurses and doctors swarming to his aid. The time flew by with IVs, sutures, extractions, and more.Jolene waved goodbye to a coworker as they left early for the day. There was nothing going on anyways."Nurse McKenzie?" a doctor approached the desk curiously."Oh," Jolene turned around to greet him, "I'm sorry, Doctor, she just left for the day."The exhausted man rolled his eyes, "Greeeeeaaaaat. Well, you'll have to do. We just moved a crash patient out of ICU, and I need someone to monitor him.""Oh...well..." Jolene could already feel her heart race with apprehension."This way, please." he turned tail and headed back down the hall.Without much else of a choice, Jolene followed. Arminius H O Fiddywinks
At this time, Bohdan, Elizabeth, and Sandor hastily parked their super cars in the hospital's parking lot. They walked hurriedly through to the lobby. Bohdan went up to the receptionist's desk, where a feline nurse sat on her computer, punching in various patient information on a table. The latest one was Korben's. Bohdan, however, was brushed aside by Elizabeth. "Hey," she began abruptly, "you have a patient named Korben Dallas lying around here?""Yes, yes we do," replied the nurse, glancing at Elizabeth through her glasses. "Who are you?" she asked, looking at Elizabeth first, then Bohdan's tall stature, then Sandor, who managed to peek up from the edge of the tall receptionist desk and through the safety glass."We're close friends," answered Elizabeth. The nurse rolled her eyes."Fine," said the nurse, wanting to get them out of her hair. "Mr. Dallas is on the second floor, room 212.""Thanks," said Elizabeth. She, Bohdan, and Sandor walked to the elevator, where they crammed in with several other people. Bohdan uttered quick sorry's as he pressed himself against the doors. Sandor was crammed into the back, and Elizabeth stood beside him. The elevator carried all of its passengers above, with Bohdan, Elizabeth, and Sandor pouring out on the second floor. They stumbled out onto the floor, in front of a doctor and a painted dog nurse. Bohdan looked up."Oh, hello Jolene," he said, smiling.
Zaphyr Stone
Jolene's eyes popped in surprise upon seeing her neighbor. "Bohdan? What are you–""Nurse, are you coming?"She looked back to see the doctor was waiting up ahead for her. "I'll talk to you later." she said quickly to the dragon before hurrying to catch up.Upon showing her the details of Korben's procedure and condition, the doctor took his leave. With a quick breath, Jolene peeked in to see if the patient was awake. Her stomach dropped in horror. That battered beaver was Bohdan's friend! She was sure of it! No wonder he was here."M-Mr. Dallas!?"
Arminius H O Fiddywinks
"Yes?" asked Korben, looking in Jolene's direction. Tony was sitting by the window, beside Korben. He was reading car magazines, and fixated on the page highlighting old luxury cars from the previous century. He was looking for a new car for Korben, as the Benz was totaled. Korben then remembered the nurse's face: that same one from Panera Bread. What was her name...?But he did not have time to ponder that question: Bohdan, Elizabeth, and Sandor had by now arrived in the room. Elizabeth was the first to greet Korben. "Hey, Korby!" she said, approaching the bedridden Korben. His shoulders were bandaged, their wounds healing, and his left arm was in a cast. There were more bandages wrapped around his torso, hidden by the hospital gown. His iconic sunglasses hid his peculiar eyes, as per his wishes. Elizabeth took Korben's hand and squeezed it. "How's my sergeant, huh?""He's fine," said Korben, slightly nodding his head. Bohdan then went to Korben."Thank God you are alive, my friend," he said, relieved."Ah, thank Tony," replied Korben, deferring most of the credit to his older sidekick. Bohdan looked at Tony and nodded. Tony looked up and smiled. He then continued to read his magazines. Sandor was the last to see Korben, his diminutive stature being hid by Bohdan. He managed to squeeze in between Bohdan and Elizabeth, and was now in full view of Korben."Hey Alex," began Korben."You good Korben?" Sandor asked. Korben nodded."Good, that's good." Sandor then backed away from the group, and slowly headed out of the room. "I uhh... I need to check on Salamon. I left him in the car. I'll be back." Sandor the dashed down the hallway and towards the elevator.
Zaphyr Stone
Jolene checked over Korben's vitals on the body scanner monitor on the wall behind him while his friends visited with him. Arminius H O Fiddywinks
"I'm good," replied Korben calmly. "Thanks." Elizabeth stood by Korben's side, still holding his hand. Korben, however, believed that it was time to release the grasp. "Uhh..." he uttered, trying to pull away."Oh, right," said Elizabeth, noticing his struggle. "Sorry." She let go. Korben put his hand down by his side. "So, you're car's gone.""Mm-hmm," grumbled Korben, annoyed and angry."Time to get a new ride.""Tony's looking," replied Korben, motioning with his head to Tony reading his car magazine. Bohdan, meanwhile, walked to Jolene, his very noticeable stature towering over her."Thank you for taking care of Korben," he said. "I know he will be in good hands." Sandor finally found his McLaren, and Salamon sitting in the passenger seat. Unlocking the car, he opened the passenger door and cradled his stepchild in his hands. Salamon was not agitated in any way, but was nevertheless happy to see Sandor, smiling and cooing. "Ah, good, you're alive. Thank God..." He then began bouncing Salamon up and down in his arms as he kicked the McLaren's door shut. Managing to hold his car keys in his hand, he locked the super car up, and went back inside the hospital back to Korben's room. Meanwhile, Elias and Joanna were riding in their beige sedan to the local IHOP for breakfast. The bright morning sun swam in a sky crowded by white puffy clouds. However, the road was not as peaceful as the couple had expected: there was a horrible accident. Two blood-soaked wrecks that were formerly cars blocked the road, and several emergency service vehicles restricted access. A border collie police officer was interviewing a rhinoceros, whose shirt was bloodied."What's this, Eli?" Joanna asked."Woman, I don't know!" replied Elias. Zaphyr Stone
Jolene smiled sweetly at her neighbor. "It's my pleasure. He's in very good hands here. We'll take good care of him." she turned to Korben, "Mr. Dallas, if you need anything, just press that call button, and I'll be right there."----Zane walked briskly through the aisles, the wire shopping cart clacking ahead of him. It never failed. He always managed to get the one with the busted wheel every time. So there he went, clickety-clack down the cereal aisle as he grabbed a box of sugary flakes. A new house meant a new start, and he was driven to make it a good one. He hurried to the meat department, determined to get a pick of the better selection before it went away. Tonight's dinner was dependent on what he found.
Arminius H O Fiddywinks
"Right, thanks," said Korben, glancing at Jolene. He then picked up the remote control to the LED TV installed in the wall, and turned it on to the news. The car crash was the breaking news at the moment, and it grabbed the attention of almost everyone in the room. Roy tried to unpack all of his clothing, but he was so taken aback by all that has happened lately that all he could do was cry tears of joy. First, he found someone new to enjoy life with. Next, he landed a record deal with High-Strung Records, one of Corneria's largest recording labels. Finally, he moved into a house. A house! It has been 15 years since he slept in a house, and it was an unbelievable feeling. Roy tried to fold his shirts on the queen-sized bed in the master bedroom, but his wet eyes prevented him from doing so. He had snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, and could not know what to do other than cry.
