FireFox516
Anyone else getting this game? I'm pretty much buying an Xbox360 just to get this game and Resident Evil 5... and maybe Phantasy Star Universe. I'm hoping this game will be the step up from the last few years of Sonic games, but I still don't care about Shadow or Silver the Hedgehog's storylines; I really just want to play as the "blue dude" himself. For once, though, I'm hoping the game jumps back to its series roots, making Dr. Robotnik (or Eggman, if you prefer) the main villain, seeing how he's been sitting out that part the last few years. Is anyone else going to pick this game up?
Conall Drest
I agree. But I may get it if it does not concentrate on shadow and the other stupid chars that are overrated. I liked it back when it was just Sonic, Eggman, and Tails. It should return to those roots cause this new shit just sucks (ex shadow the hedgehog game). Well, from everything I've seen, it looks like the story will be focused heavily on both Sonic and Silver the Hedgehog... as for Shadow, I don't really know, and I don't really care. You'd think they would stop focusing on his story, seeing how it came to a conclusion in that piece of crap they call his game. Tails is in it, but he probably won't have as big a role anymore... Mr. Krystal
Buying a console just for one or two games is usually a bad idea. I bought the Dreamcast just for Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure, then guess where they showed up a couple years later?
FireFox516
Well, I do plan on getting a couple more games if I do get one (Gears of War, Banjo-Kazooie, F.E.A.R., and Dead Rising to name a few), but I really just want to be able to play Sonic '06 and RE5 without having to wait to pay $600 for a system I really have no interest in getting. Kal
The 360 Sonic has Sonic, Silver, and Shadow as the main stars. Sonic and Silver actually have a reason to be there, while Shadow is...well, fanservice, as far as I can tell.
Sol-Ratcht Saporro
I woooould but I don't have a XBOX360. That's after I get the Wii. I don't see why the Wii couldn't have Sonic The Hedgehog 2006/ Next-Gen. If it's good, then I'll think about it. I'm more towards Sonic and the Secret of the Rings (Or so its called) I'd get PO'd if they decide to release the next gen Sonic on Wii as well. FireFox516
Sonic '06 looks like it could be on the Wii; it's graphics have barely improved over "Shadow the Hedgehog." But I don't work at Sega, so it's not in my power. Sonic and the Secret Rings looks awesome, but I still prefer to call it WildFire; it sounds better and takes less syllables to say. Apparently, this is going to be Sonic title in which you play as, and only as Sonic himself. Which is all I want to do.
TheChosenKokiri
Secret Rings sounds much more promising and appeals to "classic" Sonic fans. StH 2006 appeals to the newer fans that like the 3D games the most.

FireFox516
Alright, sweet... I just got this game last night, and though I haven't played it much(just the first two levels and a boss fight), I must say, I'm really enjoying it thus far. Sure, Sonic doesn't really seem as fast as he once did in the previous titles, and Tails is really annoying to play as, this game is actually pretty fun. I'd definetely prefer it over Heroes, Shadow TH, Riders, etc. The thing that really bugs me, though, are the humans. I mean, I won't stop playing the game because of them or anything, but the fact that a bunch of cartoon animals are interacting with realistic-looking humans(and I don't mean the anime or comic-bookish human look from the last few games) just feels out of place. But I'm just being nit-picky. Aside from that, this game is pretty fun. Now, I'm off to kick Silver's @$$.
Guest Don Lombardi
Ugh, for me, the demo was horrible and after seeing GSs review, I'm not gonna buy it.
Kal
I think GS is just really, REALLY hating up on the Wii. They rated TP the lowest out of everyone (8.8), and are the only official reviewers I have seen that hate the Wiimote controls. I don't think they're a reliable source here, and that's not blind fanboyism talking.
Owner/Technical Admin Sideways Posted November 24, 2006 Owner/Technical Admin Share Posted November 24, 2006 I'm pretty thrilled about the Wii, but I don't know about the next Sonic Game. I'm a huge fan, mostly of the 16-Bit Era of Sonic The Hedgehog, and maybe even Adventure 1 and 2, I didn't really care for Advance, it didn't capture the essence of what 2D Sonic should look like. FireFox516
I could seriously care less for what GS has to say about anything; I really just use them as a news source for gaming. Personally, I think they're just a bunch of hypocritical fanboys when it comes down to rating games, but that's just me. -_- I don't know why, but this game is actually the first 3D Sonic title ever to actually remind me of the Genesis/Mega Drive back in the early '90's. I really don't care that Shadow or Silver's gameplay, but in order to pass the entire game, you have to play them through... which kinda sucks. I'm really hoping Sonic WildFire *refuses to call it "and the Secret Rings* on the Wii next year will finally be the hog's comeback, though. Mr. Krystal
Sonic video games are cool, but if there's one thing better, it's Sonic action cutscenes. If you think about it, Sonic as a video game character is self-defeating because the faster you go, the harder it is for you to avoid enemies or traps (in many cases anyway). Sonic may be able to handle these speeds with ease, but it isn't quite so easy for us humans. Thus, in video of Sonic at his best and not controlled by faulty humans, he really shines. I just love the opening cutscene for Sonic CD (in spite of the music). And because of all this, I'm right now downloading all of the cutscenes from the game over bittorrent. Check them out! BE WARNED! There be spoilers on even the torrent download page... ARRRR! http://www.sonic-cult.org/newsx/fullnews.php?id=

Actually, the opening cutscene in Sonic '360 is really action-packed, and Sonic himself is running rather quickly to avoid all of Dr. Robotnik's missiles, while holding a princess in his arms! If there's one thing Sega is good at, it's making really nice-looking cutscenes. Despite how bad "Shadow the Hedgehog" was, the cutscenes were done very nicely. Lilacs
The problem I have with Sonic games is the platforming, Sonic is about speed, but then why do I find my self jumping more than running?
Sol-Ratcht Saporro
Yeah, I do agree with that but if all you did was just run then that would be one hella boring game.... They like to call it platformers because you can ascend/descend different levels. Its not all about running. But they should have levels in Sonic games where you could really see his speed at its best. The closest they got I think was in Sonic Adventure 1. And that was more of a sit back and watch as you hit speed boosts automatically. I'm talking about the whale part and the falling down the building. Mr. Krystal
I was disappointed with the cutscenes after all. None of them are as good as the first one, so it only goes down from there. *Sigh*
Jaith
Apparently this new game StH 06, is a canon reboot of the series which means basicly, that it has nothing to do with the past series. I want to play this game, I'm not really much of a sonic fan, and Sonic and the secret rings doesn't look that great to me, but I'd never actually like... buy a sonic game, just rent them but alas I won't be able to play StH 06 due to not having an Xbox 360 or PS3, neither which I plan on getting... Still don't know what shadow's doing in this game though... though I can break down the way the game's probably going to work... Sonic = Speed, Running stages and the like... Shadow = Combat, Blowing things up... and yeah, that kinda thing Silver = Puzzle and Exploration, nuff said. This is just want I've put together from what I've heard and seen... FireFox516
Sonic = Speed, Running stages and the like... Shadow = Combat, Blowing things up... and yeah, that kinda thing Silver = Puzzle and Exploration, nuff said. This is just want I've put together from what I've heard and seen... Well, almost... Shadow still does have a lot of Speed and running stages like Sonic does, but they have a more combat-emphasis on them, which can be expected. He doesn't have guns in this one, but he can use vehicles, and even his own "punching" attacks. Silver basically is the Puzzle and Exploration game, which can get really old, considering its a Sonic game. Thankfullly, though, they mix his game with Blaze the Cat, who is basically another Sonic-styled game. I wouldn't say this is a canon reboot, since they do make a couple references to the past, but it's certainly not the best Sonic game ever made; a lot of LAG issues and loading times plague it from what it could truly be.
