One of my absolute favorite TV shows when I was younger was the original Peabody's Improbable History. 'Nuff said. :D

For me, the tie for Favorite TV Show is between Bar Rescue and The Amazing World of Gumball.

The tie for Favorite Movie is between Inception and Airplane!.

Been plowing through The X Files lately. It's aged very well, and brings back a nice fuzzy feeling of nostalgia. "Jose Chung's From Outer Space" is one of the greatest things you will ever see in your life.

Other shows:

-Parks and Rec

-Archer (everything I love in a show)

-Ghost Adventures (it's fucking hilarious)'

-Darkwing Duck (one of the few cartoons from my childhood that actually aged well)

-Arrested Development (see Archer, plus the fact that Lucille Bluth/Mallory Archer is so spooktacularly similar to my mother in appearance and mannerisms it's amazing)

-Last Week Tonight

-North by Northwest

-Guardians of the Galaxy

-Beverly Hills Cop

-Ghostbusters

-Key & Peele

-Seinfeld

Top Gear UK is the only car show I can stand. Because pretty much every other one is a boring-ass Pimp My Ride/Pawn Stars/Motorweek ripoff. On the other hand, my dad does a scarily good impression of that guy from Motorweek who never ages or changes.

Also, I have an ingrown distaste How It's Made because when I was little, my brother taped over about a good season of SWAT Kats episodes with How It's Made/Paula Deen marathons (my brothers found Paula Deen bizarrely hilarious, even before my brother became a stoner) and I'm not afraid to admit I'm still kinda sore about it 12 years later.

Blues Brothers is fantastic.

Wheeler Dealers is more focused upon the maintenance side of automotive television and is a good alternative to the norm in the category.  Overhaulin' is also a good take on the restoration/customization shows; it's actually bearable to watch and the modifications are tasteful IMO.

How It's Made is both fascinating and good for a laugh.  I had a few friends over recently and, at one point, we were all transfixed by how utterly absurd How It's Made is.  We were doing nothing but staring at machinery and yet it was entertaining beyond any reasonable expectation.  But yeah, if someone taped over Swat Kats for it I'd be pissed (though thankfully all episodes of Swat Kats are now on DVD).

mkdir ./TV

Of recent, Steven Universe. /Internet_nudge: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse

I find that it is the ideal for marathoning since each episode adds to the story/world,  and it makes for a rewarding re-watch since the show unravels with continuity while encouraging speculation/deconstruction of each major development. I would say it is a disservice not to watch from the beginning, despite any prior knowledge. There are also a fair share of anime references, and well, general media references, of which I most certainly won't pick up on all at fist but I can otherwise appreciate.

I could gush/speculate for a solid hour, so I'll save it for the gushing/speculation threads. I'll certainly poke and be poked regarding Steven Universe.

A couple of fan's spoiler-heavy podcast, 'cos gush: /watch?v=Zne7IKwyJm4

I think we can all agree on this being the greatest intro to anythinig that's ever aired on television

I know it's just something used to tie the Nintendo cartoons into one half-hour block so Nintendo could milk the rest of what they could out of those shows (ca. 1992), but damn it y'all could've put some more effort in there jeez

That's definitely up there.  As recently mentioned by The Nostalgia Critic, Bucky O'Hare's theme song was catchy as well as insane in terms of just how much is going on in it.

I'm currently watching this brilliant show called Odyssey on the french TV right now. It's a US drama about a female soldier who discovers a government conspiracy to fund terrorism. When her entire squad is killed though, she finds herself desperatedly trying to prove to the world that she is still alive (The news was put out that she died in the attack), but finds the truth blocked at every turn. It's a bloody brilliant series, and as of writing this, the 7th episode airs tomorrow night, 22:00 local time. Can't wait.

Nah brah, not Captain N or Bucky O'Hare, have what could have been America's introduction to the Gundam series:

I refuse to acknowledge that ever existed at any point ever.

X-Men's American intro was fantastic, but the Japanese intro takes it to a whole 'nother level.

Metal, narration, and gratuitous Engrish is a good, but it lacks balloons and confetti fights

I actually didn't really know of this show's existence til yesterday, but my brother and I did have the 2 albums that came out of it, courtesy of my dad. They're actually pretty damn solid pop records, given the source material.

That's actually surprisingly tolerable, though I am already a fan of late 60s/early 70s tunes to be fair.  They had a particular sound to 'em.

I always liked the fact that '60s/'70s music had actual instruments, even obscure ones like stylophones or orchestrelles, in the same studio. Yes, synths/samples are cheaper and occasionally better sounding, but they lack the...blending that live instruments have with each other-think the difference between a MIDI version and the real/live version of any song ever. But that's a topic better suited to the music thread, I think :P

Speaking of synths, I've been watching this show on Netflix

Kinda like the X-Files, it was a case of seeing it as a kid in the 2000s and going "goddamn look at that ugly-ass '80s fashion/technology", and looking back as a (legal) adult and going "goddamn look that awesome '80s fashion/technology". Plus, the color/aesthetic coordination is just so on point it's ridiculous!

There are still some things are ehhhhhh, like scenes where the main characters fake getting a search warrant to gain access to a drug-dealer's apartment (lawsuits ahoy!), and any woman's hairstyle in this show (jeez, was the "I just slept on a couch in front of an industrial fan and van der Graft generator" look really ever attractive?), but easy enough to look past I guess. It is, after all, a show from the 1980s.

It also even made Phil Collins seem badass:
