CrypticQuery
I have no idea what any of that means, . If I did have a garage or some sort of place to park that Gran Fury, aside from on the street in a rust-belt state, I could make no arguments against picking it up. The M-body Chryslers of the 80s were always some of my favorites, and they didn't sell nearly as many as compared to the Caprice and LTD Crown Victoria of the era. Or at least it seems that way given how many have survived. I'll have to own one someday.

Get yourself a heckin garage. On a different note, that 2000 Accord EX that I've posted about before is now officially mine! I just installed a new head unit (no aux jack on the stock unit) and intend to do a hood bra and maybe a rear roof spoiler/visor. This is a stepping stone until I can get something better, but it's a really great one. I'll post pics sometime soon, once the weather clears up a bit.

Pretty cool to see that the car was sold at auction to its second owner in '93 after being taken out of service, and that it has survived this long with a comparatively low odometer reading. --- 2 hours ago, LoneWolf said: You will own one someday, that's a super attainable dream car. There's nothing like being able to have a set of wheels to call your own. Although admittedly I'm not acquainted with the feeling as of yet, I look forward to seeing the ensuing photos. And attainable dream cars are practically my specialty. For me, it has to be either an '82-'89 Plymouth Gran Fury/Dodge Diplomat like the one that I linked to, or an '87-'90 Caprice (photo on the left). Preferably the base models with manual windows, dog dish hubcaps, and without the vinyl roof cover. (Either those or a fully loaded '86-'89 Lincoln Town Car, like the one on the right.) As much as I live for a sick'ning crossover with 10 airbags and turbocharged 4-cylinders that put out 250 horsepower (while still maintaining 30mpg), I think your love for these dinosaurs are starting to rub off onto me. There are just some things that StabiliTRAK, electric power-assist steering, and 6+ speed automatic transmissions cannot replace.

Just look at that velour interior with wood trim.
LoneWolf
Alright, y'all wanted pics, so here she is, freshly washed: Spoiler Specs for those of you that care: 2000 Accord EX Sedan, Naples Gold Metallic, 1.8 Liter Inline 4 that makes some kind of horsepower, 4 speed auto (eugh), lots of love in the form of cracks, chips, dents, and scrapes in it's 167,000ish miles of service. Bought used by my dad in 2002, passed down to me this year when he picked up a 2014 Accord Sport (with a manual, which is lit because he's not really a car guy). The only things I've done so far are remove the sunroof visor, clean and detail the whole thing, debadge it, install an aftermarket head unit (aux jack), and polish the muffler with some steel wool: Spoiler I'm planning to do: Chrome exhaust tip Rear roof spoiler/lip Replace side mirror (housing is cracked and motor is non-functional) Hood bra maybe Window visors Cold air intake/intake resonator delete, one of the two Replace interior speakers/wire for sub maybe I'm pretty happy with it. It's much more dinged up than the photos show and it has some serious wear, but it's a great, comfortable, and reliable daily driver for now. My only regret is that it's the shitty 4 speed auto. I might try swapping for one of the autos with a manual mode; iirc there's a direct swap from another Honda (maybe TSX?) that fits, but I'm not sure if that's just the electronic portion of the shifter or if that involves replacing the entire transmission (at which point I'd just do a 5MT swap and call it a day).
CrypticQuery
You definitely got your money's worth (or time's worth depending upon who detailed it) out of that detailing job. The interior practically looks brand new! Congratulations are in order, and I'd think that a hood bra would be a welcome addition to the vehicle.
CrypticQuery
^ See that? That right there? That's the reaction that you have when you finally sit in the car you just bought after several years of looking for something decent. Photos and further information to follow. Hell to the yes.

CrypticQuery
Things turned out pretty well if I do say so myself! Minus the worrying about some drunk driver ramming it while it's sitting in its street parking spot, and potential theft, vehicle ownership kicks just about as much ass as I hoped it would. And the V8, while thirsty, is totally worth it.
Dr. Orange
Oh my god that is like in mint condition. Holy shit I'm actually jealous. Your car is spotless. Looks like all those years searching have paid off! Congrats G!
LoneWolf
That's fucking beautiful dude. I don't think I've ever seen a Crown Vic in any sort of condition close to that. I assume elderly owners? What're the next steps? Cosmetic modifications? Performance/sleeper modifications? MPG mods?

Looks like all those years searching have paid off! Congrats G! Much appreciated! There are a few minor issues here and there which I'll get around to fixing soon, like the fact that the mirrors will move down and to the left, but not up and to the right. I've gone ahead and purchased a new mirror switch and will install it soon. Additionally, since the car is a color that used white in a base coat at some stage, the paint is beginning to peel and flake in some of the seams and contoured areas. For whatever reason, Ford's white paint during that era never quite adhered properly from the factory. I may have it stripped back down to metal and repainted in the same bluish-silver if it's not too much. But for a purchase price of three grand, I'd say I came away quite fortunate. 6 hours ago, LoneWolf said: That's fucking beautiful dude. Believe it or not, this is actually an ex-police model from a small town, down south. It couldn't have been used for daily duties as it is far too well kept for that. Maybe it was a supervisor's vehicle, or used by that town for a different purpose (i.e. fish and game, park police, etc). It is equipped with the street appearance package, which makes it look like a civvie Vic from the outside. I, for one, love the chrome trim. In terms of modifications, aside from mitigating the aforementioned paint issues, I'd love to have the rear fascia either painted or vinyl wrapped in black, while retaining the chrome at the bottom. The cars looked much better when ordered that way IMO. Other than that, I'm a fan of the factory stock look.
Naza Sutera
Miss Thing, does anyone know anything about maintaining a late 90s Mercedes-Benz C230? Any experience with owning a(n older) Yurpean car? It's down to the wire right now, and I am tired of chaufferring my sister around. No shade to her, because there is nothing wrong with the fact that she needs a ride to and from work. But baby, mom and I are worn out of making our schedules around hers. We are in the process of getting her a car, but this lil girl is picky, and cant figure out what she likes. What I am about to do is buy an older mercedes for myself and let my mom and sister duke it out over who drives the GMC and who drives the VW. But, is that just asking for trouble? Getting a Mercedes with almost 200k miles?
CrypticQuery
Judging by some forum perusing, I'd watch out for the earlier model years. http://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/259281-c230-kompressor-reliability.html http://repairpal.com/mercedes-benz/c230 Here's where you can see some other reported occurrences and TSBs (after selecting a year); www.carcomplaints.com/Mercedes-Benz/C230/ --- It may have common issues for a car with over 200k on it (front end suspension, miscellaneous things, electrical gremlins, etc), which shouldn't pose too much difficulty. Just be mindful of how much Mercedes parts go for.

Dr. Orange
Suzuki cars are the bottom rung of Japanese reliability and a bitch to fix. My advise if your sister is picky and want's a nicer car. First: smack her up you be willing to donate your car she better be grateful it ain't a couple wheels and a 2x4. Second: Check out your local police auction. A friend of mine was able to get a 06' Lexus ES330 for just shy of $4500. Old folks take care of cars real nice. Naza Sutera
Im finna go for the damn first one. I ain't concerned with who's complaining about what anymore. To be honest, I've been feeling really trapped lately, and this car situation is one of the culprits.
Rusakov
Actually I have a mountain bike, but I couldn't be arsed to take a picture of it, so here's the next best thing. Gestalt
I went with the economy model. The dealer at the thrift shop says shes got about 1K miles left in her. I get about 7 miles per meal. With a tune up I can easily push 15mpm. Very good deal. Otherwise, the only downside is, with limited trunk space, I might have trouble with a weeks worth of groceries. Overall, it's a tradeoff i'm willing to make for such a sweet deal.
