All Game Theory videos should be taken with fourteen and a half truckloads of salt.

Um, uh, hi guys, I'm here with my Star Fox theory: what... what if uh... what if FOX is actually the FORMER PET of a BOY IN A COMA who's DREAMING UP THE ENTIRE STORY!!!

Yeah it's unlocked once you beat Expert mode for the first time.

As for this, I never got into the whole "game theory" stuff. But it seems they are trying to bring this back again... Didn't this theory get shot down a couple of years ago because in the latest Star Fox games they had normal shoes/feet?

The Starfox team does not have metal legs. It's the illuminati and nobody cares about seeing your evidence.

Someone needs to make a video debunking these dumb rumors.

I kind of like Game Theory, though.  The video where he went up in a trainer with a Navy fighter pilot to do the maneuvers the Arwings do was really cool, regardless of whether or not anyone involved thinks the Starfox team has metal legs.  Not only that, but at least they explained just why cutting off your legs so you can withstand more G forces was complete bullshit.

You know, the last one about their "animal  legs" was actually the very first variant of this claim that I ever heard. I want to say I first heard it on starfox.org back in like 2001 or 2002.

The G-forces one I have always thought was fucking retarded. "So, let's have the talking animals fly a space fighter with gravity diffusers, but lets have them chop their legs off to reduce the G-forces, too!" Plus, there's the whole "Unlimited technology and the best you can come up with for G-Forces is leg amputation?"

The others have glaring flaws too, though. The animal legs one. Yeah, bipedal animals evolved with quadroped digitigrade feet.

Then, there's the "makes them run faster" variant that I have never heard until I saw this. Once again, I refer to the unlimited technology argument: They can build orbital jump gates, but they can't make a robotic leg attachment that doesn't require amputation.

The real reason their feet look like that is that they are puppets.

THIS is what makes most sense. Adventures, Assault and (*sigh*) Total Disaster Command DO NOT show Fox using what you call "protesis". DZ's answer makes more sense that that 15-minuite video. However, I do wonder about Andrew, though. He really is always shown with the protesis, even in versions after Adventures (although he didn't even participate in Adventures... lol :P). Maybe this could be revealed in the next version of Starfox. I will make a thread about story expectations soon, so we can talk about this topic, the "occult characters" topic, and main character topic (Ex: Where exactly was Falco born and what was he fate of his parents [in Benny's comic, he is shown as a street kid]? Who were Krystal's biological parents? Who are Andrew's parents and which of them were Andross' son/daughter? When did Fox's father die [age] and how was Peppy's paternal relationship with him?).

DZ's makes much more sense I completely agree. Even if you look up the old development notes and videos of Star Fox and Star Fox 64, the original intention was to give this puppet feeling. As the games over time though showed as you said, just seems like they completely disregard these weird robot legs.

Well, if we're gonna go the "stopping the blood from rushing to the extremities in extreme manouvers" route, legs probably aren't the only thing getting cut off iykwim. Hell, why stop there? Just make the Arwings drones controlled from the Great Fox. No one gets hurt and nobody loses their dingaling.

I just love that the dude pulled a "The entire internet says he has metal legs because didyouknowgaming said they do."

I mean, why didn't he come here first. Shit, we know and found out more about Starfox than what the internet can spot the obvious in a Smash Trophy.

But that running faster thing was clever, imma give dat props. Hell, maybe the next game theory is that their speed is attributed to the fact that they're made up of right triangles or that the reason Falco is angry is because maybe he's a douche.

To be fair, Did You Know Gaming didn't invent this. I first heard it back in my OTG/starfox.org days. YouTube didn't even exist back then, much less Did You Know Gaming.

>Game Theory

well there's your problem

Game Theory should be renamed "Baseless Speculation and Crackpot Theories Aided with a Magic 8 Ball", with a heft helping of "HA HA WELL THATS JUST A THEOOORYYY IF YOU DISAGREE ITS NOT MY PROOOOBLEEEM" smugdouchery that is one of the few things on the internet to legitimately make me angry a;ljfajhfahfa;sa

"You see, in this obscure comic written by a man with some serious underlying issues, Fox is shown yadadadadadada"

Tbh, GameTheory is basically Cracked mixed with generous helpings of TVTropes, Reddit, and a pinch of Upworthy, in that it's really just meant for awkward smart-asses to butt their way into a conversation with "MINDBLOWING" tidbits that will "CHANGE THE WAY YOU SEE IT 4EVR". That's because the videos are fairly well-produced, easily digestible short clips tossing around way-overanalytical conjecture and more-or-less common knowledge miscellany. Prolefeed, more or less.

And you know what, why is it a bad thing that the amputated leg thing is still floating around? While it is indeed pretty stupid sounding when put against modern science, but so are anthropomorphic animals flying in hypersonic space planes doing barrel rolls in space. But damned if it isn't at least intruiging. It's not like there's a rich and complex lore that is being tampered with, or that it ruins the story. Hell, it's not even our own creation, it's that of a multinational conglomerate that wanted to one up their competitors in the '90s by creating something to show off the 3D capabilities of one of their products. Unwad your panties.

Because it's basically a bunch of 2edgy fanfiction being proselytized as the truth by grimdorks. Theories that actually make sense (Lylat is a binary star system/what are the Krazoa/etc) aren't interesting enough for 12 year olds looking for shock value so we get STAR FOX CUT HIS LEGS OFF FOR GRAVITY repeated ad infinitum instead.

It's not so much that they're ruining any lore or whatever..I mean, it IS really, really dumb, but for some reason is considered as fact by a bunch of edgelords trying to make their goofy Nintendo games as Secretly Terrifying and Not For Kids After All! as possible. It's an overall really annoying trend that doesn't just effect Star Fox -- people try to sensationalize harmless or goofy properties by grasping any straw they can find that has a shot at making the series in question Secretly Dark and Mature in order to, I dunno, justify its existence somehow. It's really goofy and not as deep as it thinks it is. Edge for edge's sake isn't all that interesting.

Wait, people take GameTheory seriously? I've always thought it was a satire of all the ridiculous fan theories out there.
