  1. 1. Facebook or Twitter?

The comparisons of Facebook and Twitter always seemed like the clash of the social media titans to me since 2009. I'm also not just asking which site you find better, I'm also asking which site you happen to frequent the most. I'm also still a bit impressed as to how both sites have been holding up, especially in terms of longevity and popularity. I actually like both sites, but I just happen to be on Facebook a lot more because the majority of people I've known in real life are actually on Facebook. Facebook also seems to be as real and as personal as it can possibly get on the Internet, which is why it often seemed to be best reserved for family and close friends. On the other hand, I could see why that could also be one of the root causes for Facebook to become more subject to drama and conflict.

Twitter just seems to be a bit more impersonal, relaxed and chill overall. Most of the people I've known in real life don't seem to be on it though, but a good chunk of them are. I also enjoyed being able to follow famous people on Twitter, such as musicians, actors and authors. Facebook also has official and verified pages dedicated to celebrities, but Twitter still seems to outnumber Facebook in that department. My only real gripe with Twitter is not being able to type as much as I'd like to, but I still fully acknowledge that such a thing would contradict the overall purpose and concept of tweeting.

Dare I say, sometimes Twitter looks a lot more organized and efficient than Facebook, but I suppose that it's probably due to its slightly more simplistic and minimalistic design.

So anyway, for those of you that have you used both sites or just one of them, which one would do you prefer over the other? Which one do you also happen to use more, even if you also ended up liking both sites?

I also noticed that both sites still get compared frequently whenever a general conversation about social media lingers long enough.

I never really used either. I have a Facebook just because some professors have a need ONLY TO POST UPDATES ON (X) ON FACEBOOK. The rest is spam bots and old Highschool people I never knew posting edgy/stupidly sad things of Social justice.

Used Twitter once just because some updates of classes during Winter Storms were posted there waaaaaay earlier than on the News.

Overall Forums are the way to go. Organized, efficient, customizable and usually nothing stupid is ever posted.

Usually.

I use Facebook to keep up with friends that I don't get to see in person often and Twitter for breaking news or other updates on subjects that I find interesting.
