DZComposer
Yay, another Did You Know Gaming Star Fox Episode. Let's see what they got right and what they got wrong or pulled out of their ass:Star Fox Origins = NES Glider: TRUEFushimi Inari inspiration: TRUEThe team represent developers: TRUEPigma left Star Fox to join Star Wolf: HALF TRUE - It's not wrong, but it's an oversimplification. While Pigma left Star Fox to work for Andross, he didn't leave to join Star Wolf specifically, though he was instrumental in the formation of Star Wolf and it is hinted that he truly controlled the team, despite Wolf being the official leader.Dengar and the Kansai accent: LIKELY TRUE - I've heard this bounced around and it makes sense, but I haven't heard it from an official source. The video failed to mention that the Kansai accent is largely portrayed in Japan the way the southeastern accent is portrayed in the US.Gen. Pepper and Sgt. Pepper: TRUE Read the Itoh comic if you have any doubts...ROB64's Japanese Name: TRUEEU Game Names: MIGHT BE TRUE - While the EU names are of course different, this being due to "Star Vox" seems to largely be inferred from trademark registrations. There is also a record label called "Star Fox" as well as a Marvel character called "Star Fox" so those could also be explanations for the renamings. I don't remember ever hearing an official explanation, but if someone knows of one please correct me.Star Fox Super Weekend: TRUEStar Fox 2: TRUEStar Fox 64 mouths move like puppets: TRUE - But they totally failed to mention the influence on the original SNES game. Probably because it throws water on a certain claim in their first video...Aileron Roll: TRUE but who cares?OK, so nothing glaringly wrong or severely dubious this time. Still, though, big [CITATION NEEDED] on their first video and the amputated legs bullcrap.
geoprimedonna
Right you are, DZ. THIS video makes more sense than the last one. Still wondering about Andrew though... And the missing part of James' ear. And another question: who exactly is Krystal's biological father, since even if we consider Dinosaur Planet, we will see that Randorn only adopted her? Arminius H O Fiddywinks
Why do they keep doing this? That's the burning question.
Gestalt
It's worth noting DYKG-yt features different narrators. While how much of a particular narrator influences the final draft remains unclear (and is likely variable), I find Satchbag's chocolate voice [other content] refined and enjoyable. Why do they keep doing this? That's the burning question.-cough- Edited June 8, 2015 by Gestalt
StarFoxMaster64
This one is much better than their last, at least this time most of the stuff is much more accurate. It felt like last time was more of wild guesses.
CrypticQuery
I always heard that the European titles were changed because Mythicon had the license for the name Star Fox in Europe, and used it for their sole Atari 2600 game.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Fox_(1983_video_game)
Drasiana
Right you are, DZ. THIS video makes more sense than the last one. Still wondering about Andrew though... And the missing part of James' ear. And another question: who exactly is Krystal's biological father, since even if we consider Dinosaur Planet, we will see that Randorn only adopted her?iirc Randorn had some kind of Wizard Rage freakout and slaughtered Krystal's entire village (there was some sort of conflict between the 'Vixons' and the 'Wolvens' or whatever their species names were) and adopted Krystal out of guilt. Not that any of that is canon anyways, but I think it's safe to say that the identity of Krystal's parents isn't exactly a huge plot hook or anything.I always heard that the European titles were changed because Mythicon had the license for the name Star Fox in Europe, and used it for their sole Atari 2600 game.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Fox_(1983_video_game) That's what I thought too...
Hope(N Forever)
EU Game Names: MIGHT BE TRUE - While the EU names are of course different, this being due to "Star Vox" seems to largely be inferred from trademark registrations. There is also a record label called "Star Fox" as well as a Marvel character called "Star Fox" so those could also be explanations for the renamings. I don't remember ever hearing an official explanation, but if someone knows of one please correct meI believe this is largely taken from the fact this is the very title Dylan Cuthbert himself explicitly referenced in the feature article "The Secret History of Star Fox" from issue #152 (March 2005) of the now-defunct Nintendo Official Magazine, when Cuthbert was interviewed in anticipation of the upcoming European release of Star Fox: Assault. I used to have scans for that interview, but it has been forever, of course, so I dunno if they are still at my disposal.
