Oh... My... God... (PS3 Fans)

Yes I'm a big Nintendo fanboy, but I just don't see what's so great about the PS3. It's just a bigger, shinier PS2. Yes, the graphics look nice, but so do the ones on the Gamecube. And to prove that graphics don't really matter, look at the numbers of people that still play on their older consoles, like Golden Eye on the N64.

The only real plus this console has is the fact that it's the cheapest Blu-ray player. It appears they're doing the same thing as the PS2 did with being the cheapest DVD player. To prove that's their game plan, look at what you get with the PS3. Not a game, but a semi-good movie. It was funny at first, but the movie wasn't anything special.

But what about games? Metal Gear looks good, too bad I don't play Metal Gear games. The games on the PS3 aren't exclusives and you can just get an XBox 360 to play those. Those games that aren't exclusives, such as Silent Hill 5, aren't as good as the ones before them. And most of those exclusives aren't being produced by the original teams like how Nintendo does for most of their big franchises.

In the end, I just don't see the point in the PS3. That is of course my opinion. I mean, I planned on getting both, Warhawk looked awesome and all. But seeing the actual games now, I'm content with having my old PS2 and a Wii in my TV cabinet.

Games have never been about graphics. Sure, a game that looks nice gets shown prominately in the media, but the only thing that has EVER sold games is simply how fun they are to play.

As proof, I give you Pokemon, which of course looks horrible, but is pretty fun (or was for some of us...)

I wouldn't say that's the only thing that's sold games. As a former XBox owner I'll tell ya I got a ton of pressure to get Halo. That's why several people own it. Peer pressure. At least that's how it is out here. But yeah, Gameplay sells games, not how shiny the game is.

I would argue (even as a Nintendo Fanboy) that Halo was a lot of fun, regardless of graphics.

IMO, Sony is exageratting in "going to the future" someday the games may look almost exactly as real-life, and its not so good... how far in graphics can a game go? a game needs to allways be a game.

A game is meant that you can do things you would not be able to do in real life, not allowed to.. and be like a break/pause from Real-Life... not somekind of real-world event stimulator or so...

Graphics are importaint to to be able to have a good feel and so the game looks nice in the game also and/or so... but never as importaint as gameplay.

If the graphics would not have evolved we would not care of "needing" to have better..

One of my bros' maybe wsa going to get a Xbox360 but when he found out that it couldn't play Xvid or DivX it was lame and that it cant be modded (yet) either.

I would get a Wii, for the uniqueness the amount of games, good price, and many other things.

Else I would prefer to play on PC.

I wasn't talking about graphics in Halo. Just how boring it was when I played it. But that's my opinion.

Ah, well, I don't like it either, but a lot of people do.

Yeah, wait, isn't this topic about PS3? On Game Trailers.com they were talking about how in the long run with big price drops the PS3 might pull ahead. But I don't think the Price drops would be that big unless Sony plans on losing even more money. Nintendo, sticking to simple stuff, is making an actual profit on the Wii instead of losing money on it.

Yeah, Sony will be losing money for YEARS to come. Maybe in 4 or 5 years they'll break even at this price.

The PS3 is the most powerful machine, there's nothing more I want to know. This is me and many other people think about computers and consoles, I know that this may not be enough for Sony but even if it's how you say it is, Sony just has to sell the PS3 to the stores and the Retail-Warehouses and they'll have made their profit, how long it takes for the product to sell does not matter as much as you think.[/dissjointed(sorry the japanese and German Grammar are getting to me)]

As a Nintendo Fanboy and a First person shooter fan who owns an Xbox 360, Halo1 and 2 played like any other FPS I've ever played. Nothing special.

The Gamecube is the least powerful console of all the current gen systems. Yet Resident Evil 4 was voted as the best looking console game.

Raw power dosen't always matter.

I play RE4 I know the flaws, it's just the dark lighting that makes it seem like good graphics, if you stand in a well lit area you can see how bad it really is...

So you're saying that the only reason Halo is popular is the graphics? How very... hollow...

Don't underestimate Halo, it's not just graphics, but it does get boring after a while  like every other game...

The PS2 is the least powerful console. Game Cube and Xbox were tied.

I think Sony is trying to make up for that...

well I have to say, Halo has a nice story behind all those smooth graphics...and  it's the real proof of how simple ideas work, the game has a simple FPS design ( I still say, perfect dark is the best FPS ever made) and it has some innovation to show to us.....still it gets boring, why?, because it's the same deal....you get your control and then aim with the control sticks.....shoot here, kill there, unless you have xbox live, the game is just another FPS........now turn that into the next gen consoles....the deal is the same......just with better graphics and a FEW new stuff. After 6 generations of the same war, in where all the companies just focused on graphicis rather than gameplay, at last we are seeing a change ( a full one). What wii will provide to us, is different...that's why I'm sticking with nintendo....the future is not about graphics...because there will be a limit for them.....the future is about innovation...

^Sony's trying a "wii" bit too hard dontcha think? ;)

Erasoldierlaugh.gif

I really don't see a need to get a PS3 (in my opinion) Most of my favorit games and serise are on the Wii or coming, and after reading the Nintendo power mags 2 page article on the Wii only made me happer. (ah, Metal slug 1,2,X,4,5,6 and Battalion wars 2 more tanks, fighters, battle ships than the heart a content)

*falls out of chair laughing* *wipes a tear* Nice one, Sol!

I got an ad for some store, and it had both the Wii, and the PS3. When my mom saw the price on the PS3, she freaked out. Seriously, who in their right mind would pay $600 for that thing? Plus I've also heard if they break down, you have to re-buy and re download all of the games. I think I'll be happy with all of my Nintendo systems for a while, as I also can't afford a Wii, yet, and because the only game I for it so far is'nt going to be released yet. Ah well. *hugs my SNES, N64, DS and GameCube*

Thank you thank you all.....I had that one stored up for like 2 seconds. ^_^

But, I seriously wonder why Sony....? Why? *shakes her head*

I want to see how it really goes down on Friday, just for the amusement. Things are going to get crazy in my neighborhood.
