AlGore'sleftshoe
If this subject fits another topic please move it there. As we all know, sadly Iwata has passed on, and it now leaves his family, and all of Nintendo in a state of grief, and at an absence of a CEO, here's a tangible question that has crossed my mind: would if the next CEO elected for Nintendo sells all rights to the corporate empire of Microsoft?Granted I think this is extremely unlikely, why would Nintendo elect a CEO who doesn't see the same image for the company as Iwata?Despite this it is something to think about. The future of Nintendo anyhow, who in recent times seem to be at a desperate struggle.I'd say Microsoft has a bad history with taking advantage of developers and their games, like how they wouldn't let Bungie make Destiny under their flag, so Bungie split off to work on the project on their own, and 343i was left to take reigns for the Halo series, as it is officially owned by Microsoft, who for many years despite various ideas for various other IP's, has never allowed them to produce anything but Halo. Would Microsoft express similar abuse to Nintendo? Would they learn from that mistake, and let Nintendo make their own choices for their games under Microsoft's flag? What do you think? ArwingFan
If it happened then Nintendo would suffer the same fate as Rare.
Drasiana
There's like no chance of that happening, but also it seems a little bit tasteless to be pouncing on NEW CEO speculation less than a day after? Like.. chill

Like.. chillHe himself did say it was unlikely, and was just posing the question. But I myself agree that, though at all possible, it is highly unlikely. Like if Mark Fields died, and his successor sells Ford to GM or something. But on the other hand... Fiat owns Chrysler. Never imagined that happening.Anyway, this isn't about car companies. It's about vidya games. My point is even if Microsoft for whatever reason takes over Nintendo, they will probably let it operate as a corporation. I think there is a little too much money to be made in Nintendo's branding for them to "abuse" it. Edited July 14, 2015 by Naza Sutera
Dr. Orange
I was really going to make a though provoking post. But I realized that it was bull and this would never occur. Yeah.

unoservix
the CEO wouldn't have the authority to just up and sell Nintendo to Microsoft. that would have to come from the shareholders, since it would be the shareholders' shares that Microsoft would be buying. so you can take your finger off the panic button. OlcanBishop
I don't remember where this was stated, but I read somewhere that a American company cannot own the rights to any Japanese product or company for that matter. So, likely of this ever happening will be zero.
DZComposer
Nintendo is WAY too Japanese to sell itself to an American company. They'll sell to Sony before they sell to MS.But Nintendo doesn't need to sell, anyway. The company has had a couple of shaky years, but the company is still solvent. It still has little debt. It still has a huge catalog of valuable assets. The board will soon appoint a new CEO and the company will go back to business as usual.
StarFoxMaster64
They would never do that besides, Nintendo saw what happened to Rareware and they have regretted it for a long time now.
