I'm confused about Star Fox Command...

Wanna know what I think was the games biggest flaw is? The multiple story paths. I don't know about you, but whenever a game has multiple ways to go through a story, it ends up sucking. Shadow the Hedgehog being one of my prime examples, and command being my ultimate example.

I don't think the branching story is the problem, Life is Strange being a counter example.  The problem stems from the bad writing such as the lack character consistency and the plotholes.

Well yes, you're right. But I think the bad writing and plot holes are BECAUSE of the multiple story paths. If they simply had 1 big story, then they woulda had allot more time to flesh things out. That's mainly what i'm saying. Of course for me, that wouldn't really fix the game because I hated the time limits and the move limits and basically the game play in general, but I think that woulda fixed up the story at the very least.

I agree with most of your point, but I thought the touch screen controls were a welcome gimmick for the game, but I can see that it would have been great to also have button controls, so that you really feel like you're playing Star Fox 2.

It keeps knawing at me, though, that the reason they didn't implement it is because it'd be too difficult to properly aim your ship otherwise (Then again, I've never even seen Star Fox 2 outside of mere clips from YouTube, so I don't know if I can say much).

I used to have StarFox 2 back when windurs 7 was in, but I can't get it on goddamn windows 8, and I can't get it on my windurs 10 either....THE BIGGEST mistake I have ever made btw, if you haven't gotten 10, DON'T

it doesn't feel anything like SF2, SF2 has more in common with Assault, but with the all-range that 64 had. It was only like Command when it used the strategic space overview which I thought was marvelous in StarFox 2, I could easily get my two ships to intercept Andross's shit, it felt like a real space war, to me it was the best StarFox experience ever, but Command was an absolute insult to that little item that I only briefly got to enjoy.

And...I've never really had any problems with aiming in SF2, in-fact both on the Arwing Walker and in all range/flight mode, I never had any problems shooting, hell I thought it was easier to use than any of the other games, SNES it's just jiggle around and hope you hit shit, and in 64 and Assault the "new" lock-on function does whatever the hell it wants, funny how SF2 was actually the first to have a lock-on function.

Um, no, the bad writing is not because of too many story paths, the bad writing is because the writing is bad. Bad writing from story path branches materialize with things like shallower character development or plot holes branching from the fact there's too much going on at once. Command's writing is just fucking plain old bad, and if it was one storyline or nine doesn't change that.

Ya, SFC wasn't the greatest... I recently got the game on my Wii U just to try it out, and it was disappointing One of the things that grinded my gears was that Fox kicked Krystal off of the team for 'Safety reasons'. Um... Hello!? Slippy's safety was much more threatened than Krystal's!?! Slippy is a horrible pilot and always has to rely on his teammates to get a bogey off his tail!?!? Krystal on the other hand, can take care of herself and is a decent pilot. (Fox was being a bit sexist, don't ya think)? I also didn't really like the touch-screen controls. (The DS has a control stick you know)! Plus, the first Star Wolf battle was pretty tough... (WHY WERE THEY SO FLIPPIN' HARD TO SHOOT)!?!? And the missle levels... Oh god, the missle levels!! Overall, the story was poorly written, the controls were a bit awkward, and the enemies were a bit OP...

The ending soundtrack and the ending of Dash Boman becoming Andross the 2nd, (with the assumption he only claimed not to be like him was a lie just to get him power) are literally the two good things that ever came from Command, everything else is pretty much absolute pure shit.

Command basically derailed everyone's character into unrecognizable obscurity.

This is weird to quote myself like this but, I shouldn't say those are the ONLY good things ever to come from Command, I guess some of the aircraft like Slippy's bullfrog, Krystal's CloudRunner, and a couple of those STarWolf Fighters looked cool, I'd welcome more varying designs and fighters to a new StarFox game should that ever happen, if it were a good game.

Another concept I liked from Command was the different teams you can have.  Sadly you can't customize your team like you could in SF2.

A lot of people here seem happy they haven't, but it seems only to be because of the convoluted plotlines and overall depressing endings for the majority. Me? One word. Gameplay. Every once in a blue moon, I go to it because of the overall enjoyable multiplayer, and at worst, passable controls. +, the music for the Map sections is quite memorable, in my point of view. What do YOU guys think? Let's continue our thread, I'm Confused About!

As bad as this game turned out to be, this...could be quite useful for my story. Heh, heh, heh.

I actually did play Command ONCE when I was young at a gamestop, hated instantly. years later when I actually give a rats ass about StarFox after playing SNES, Assault and 64, just about all the games have noteworthy quality, entertainment value and a legendary replay value that outdoes most big-budget games we see a lot these days, but Command...didn't have any of that.

Once again, the aircraft designs, one of the endings, and a couple soundtracks are the only things I actually like about the game...

When the plot of a game reads like bad fanfiction where the author was obsessed with "after the plot" stuff (relationships, hobbies, CHILDREN), you wonder how it even passed from under Shiggy M's watchful gaze.

Then again, Miyamoto wondered why the game tanked. Gee, sir, I have noooooo idea.
