If it were Star Fox, Hajime Hirasawa. Who better than the guy who did the music for the original Star Fox game? Besides, I could honestly sit for hours if I could listening to the loop of the control menu.

What kind of a movie I would do, no idea, but whatever the setting, any one of those six would do it masterfully. No specific order because shit it's just impossible to pick only one:

- Michael McCann. Guy composed for DX:HR, and in case you didn't know, also composed for XCOM: Enemy Unknown's soundtrack. Really, just listen to the menu theme and compare. Either way, mindblowing quality;

- Jack Wall (whole Wall of Sound Inc. team if available). Hard to argue with this level of talent;

- Keiki Kobayashi. A long-time favorite and holy firecrackers from hell, the guy does know how to make good stuff;

- Hiroyuki Sawano. His work speaks for itself;

- Alexander Brandon. Guy's history goes way back down the line. He composed for the original Deus Ex, composed for Unreal (and Tournament), and also Dust: An Elysian Tail;

- Jamie Christopherson lastly but definitely not least. I mean seriously, can you really say this isn't an epic track and keep a straight face? Plus he composed for the instrumental/non-theme tracks of the same game as well, which were pretty good;

Honorable mention to Ramin Djawadi who composed for Pacific Rim's soundtrack, which is pretty badass.

I would say John Williams, but he's pretty much retired now. Maybe Michael Giacchino. He can write in the style I like, though not always.

I am not a fan of what has been happening to film score over the past 20 years. I am so god damned tired of repeating 8th notes in the violas and violins, middle-eastern style solo female vocals, synth basslines, splatty low brass tutti long notes, and so much post processing that it kills the soul of the orchestra's sound. Want an example? The first piece in Orbi's post has all of them, though the repeating 8ths are on a synth sound rather than strings, but it still has that sound.

It all sounds the same now. Movies used to have memorable music. I miss that. Pretty much all of my favorite scores are 1990s and earlier.

Why can't we have music like this anymore?

Michael McCann for SciFi or Science Thriller

Hans Zimmer for a Space Odessey

Harry Gregson-Williams for anything adventurous

For like a Comedy I would have like Ron Jones or like just for fun Mike Morasky. (Put him down for a Noir movie too.)

Spoopy man would be Danny Elfman

And any like drama, heartfelt film, got to go with Tori Amos or Joni Mitchell

I want to make a movie of 2 hours of watching paint dry, the main character is Nicholas Cage. Its cheap, efficient, and better than Transformers. The music is written by John Williams.

ok the Transformers movies aren't THAT bad, they're 6/10 at their VERY best, altlhough pretty much every Michael Bay movie ever can be made into a formula

"Actors" that don't act right + skimpy uninspired female actress + flashy cars + explosions + shallow theme = Michael Bay movie

Also, if I were to direct a movie, It'd be an animated (2D animation with CG enhanced rotoscope) action-adventure multi-genre Science Fiction and Fantasy for the most part.

With Either Alan Silvestri, John Ottman, or John Williams, with a heroic, thunderous orchestral soundtrack.

If I were to direct a StarFox movie anyhow, I'd do it with 2d anime style like any dogfighting 80s anime (watch TIE Fighter Short Film), with a story that in some way brings in almost all the characters in the series, and for soundtrack, I'd have it as Orchestrated versions of SNES's music, but arranged by Hirokazu Ando, one of the people who did arrangements for Super Smash Bros Melee's soundtrack, which is BEAUTIFUL.

If I was doing a sci fi movie I would have Jeremy Soule compose the soundtrack. Never heard of him? Okay heres a bit of a history lesson. Back in 1997 a groundbreaking Real time strategy was released called Total Annihlation. It went on to win hundreds of awards and still has a fan base even today, long after the parent company  Cavedog went under. Countless Mods, maps and community content are available and growing.  Check this out http://www.tauniverse.com/ Anyways, the game featured a full 96 piece orchestra with original compositions. How does it sound?

Amazing. Just amazing.

So yeah TLDR; Total Annihlation is an amazing game you should try out sometime. The music is great and I would hire the composer to work on my movie.
