"So, uh," Derek said, referring back to Korr and Sholt, "I try to alternate daily between weight training and cardio. One day, I do a morning jog for like five miles. The next, I hit the weights. And the carbs and protein? That is just about the most important part. And the water intake. I try to drink four liters daily."

Wladyslaw grew impatient. His right knee hastily bobbed up and down while he glared at Bohdan, who simply stared at the paper before him.

"Come on, what is the answer?" said Wladyslaw.

"Give me a few moments," replied Bohdan.

"I've given you enough, now what is the answer?" Wladyslaw had a certain annoyed tone to his voice.

"You need to calm down and be patient," said Bohdan, sensing his brother's frustration.

"Be patient? After waiting five minutes for you to shrug your shoulders on one question?" Wladyslaw shook his head. "You know what? If you don't know it, you don't know it. Just skip it and move on to the next question."

"That's pretty good." Sholt replied.

"You should join us for a workout, some day." Korr suggested. "You lot can too, if you're interested in that stuff." he said, looking at the rest of the group.

Vlady shrugged.

"I'm a bit into fitness. More of a runner, though." He said. "You into that kind of thing?"

"Oh man, yeah, we love a good run. Him especially." Korr responded, motioning towards Sholt. "You name it, free running, a marathon, a sprint, he seems to love it."

"Heh, I suppose so." Sholt agreed. "But he's better at strength stuff." he said, motioning towards Korr.

"Hmm..." Derek pondered Korr's offer. "I might be interested in doing that some time...--But not the free-runing though. I'm not as sleek and agile as I'd like to be."

"Say, Derek, how much do you weigh?" Amelia asked.

"Last time I weighed myself, the scale said two-hundred and sixty-five pounds," Derek said.

"Wow, really?" Amber was a little surprised. " Derek, while not fat in the traditional sense, is a pretty big and hefty guy. "I bet that being tackled by you in football is like being run over by a refrigerator."

Derek chuckled. "Yeah, something like that."

"So, you guys into anything besides bodybuilding?" Vlady asked, as he hoped to to find out more about his peers.  "As you can see, I'm not a regular sight at a gym."

He gestured to his wiry frame and chuckled a bit.

"Oh, you know." Amelia began, twirling a lock of her hair. "Normal stuff. Like shopping, getting our hair done, manicures, pedicures, slumber parties, talking on the phone for hours about nothing, talking about cute boys, talking about MiMi's outfits on The Real Housewives, collaborating with world leaders to achieve universal peace, and... Did I mention getting our hair done?"

Amber chuckled. "Bear in mind, Amelia, he's not a sixteen-year-old girl who has loads of free time, as well as dad's credit card on hand."

Amelia cocked an eyebrow at Amber. "Whatchu mean? I don't have my dad's credit card! What the hell do you take me for?" And then she said a little more meekly. "...I only have my mom's."

Korr and Sholt looked at their classmate for a second with a puzzled expressions. They had no idea what half of the stuff she mentioned was.

Sholt quickly turned his attention back to Vlady, though, to answer the question.

"Well, we love some off road racing, whenever we can. We use dirt bikes or off-road buggies." He replied. "We haven't been able to do anything like that recently. Ever since we arrived on Corneria, that is. Cornerians are real finicky about having a licence to drive a vehicle 'n stuff. Other than that, I saw some interesting stuff on the telly when we arrived here. I don't have much time for other stuff, though. Sholt likes to read his books every now and then." He explained, to which Sholt nodded.

"How about yerselves?" Sholt asked as he leaned forward to put his shoulders on the table.

"Well..." Began Vlady. "I am not much into sports, aside from running. I focus more on the intellectual pursuits. You know, writing, scripting, that kind of thing..."

He paused. "And I am part of a band or sorts."

"Chess?" Sholt repeated, confused.

"Yeah, what's chess?" Korr added. He hadn't heard of this game before.

((Okay, so, honeys, home room has gone on long enough. Time for a flash forward to just before the end of second period.))

"...What point is Mr. Renaldi making when he says that men and women have their place until death?" Queried Mr. Holbrook the young and spry, yet strict but fair Literature II  teacher said as he strolled around the classroom, reference book in hand. None of the students seemed all that quick to answer. Slamming his book closed, Mr. Holbrook stopped at a random student and called him to the stand. "Jimmy?"

Jimmy, who was sitting in the desk next to where Mr. Holbrook stopped, turned to the teacher and said, "...That, men and women play different roles and that they should stick to them?"

"Well done," said Mr. Holbrook. "But earlier in the reading, he said that a woman can do anything a man can do."

"Just because they can doesn't mean they should."

A lot of the female students scoffed and otherwise made sounds of disgust.

With his laser-beam eyes, Mr. Holbrook shot his gaze across the classroom at a particularly well-dressed female student, who was doodling on her notebook. "Ms. Cimmaron?"

"Yes, Mr. Holbrook?" she said, not looking up.

"Am I boring you?"

This made her look up and make eye contact with the teacher. "Am I boring you?"

He smiled darkly. "So, what do you have to contribute?"

"On what?" Ms. Cimmaron said as if she didn't want to be bothered.

"On last night's reading."

Amelia thought for a moment, then said, "...I'm sorry, what was it again?"

"The Course of Gender. Did you read the material?"

"Hmm, not last night."

Mr. Holbrook raised his eyebrows as if starkly surprised. "Well! Seems as though you've earned yourself a zero--"

"--I read it a year ago," Amelia said, cutting him off, "Vinicius Renaldi. In his short story following his essay titled "The Birth and Death of a Day," he looks at the concept of gender in today's modern society. His assumption is that after death when souls gather, they meet on equal footing. His hypothesis is that there is no gender in heaven."

Mr. Holbrook stared, then nodded, impressed. "That is correct."

Renard listened intently to Amelia as she gave her answer, finding himself nodding along with her impressive knowledge of not just the materials of class, but further works by the author. She probably could make really good nonfiction recommendations after class was over.

He chanced a moment to drift off and stare out the window, preferring that we wasn't chosen for a question.

Tiger was paying attention to what was being taught.  He was one of the quieter ones, but it was often the quiet ones you had to watch out for.  He was skilled in the martial arts, actually possessing a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, was strong and muscular which made sense for how fit he was.  He was also diligent in his studies and smart.  All key qualities for a future CDF academy hopeful, but despite this, he was quick with his studies so he could make sure he'd have enough time for fun after school.

He wasn't always wise though, and could get into some trouble, as well as the fact he was short tempered, though had a lot of self control to balance this.  For example, though he wanted to thrash that bully Iosef for threatening the new student Sven like that did, he had held back.  He knew if it went too long and far, he could call in Mr. K to handle things.  He was also aware that some teens these days had hyper wrestle mania, and actually wanted to cause violence.  Not Tiger, he was actually quite peaceful.  In fact, he was sometimes teased for being a hippy with his long mullet.  Outside of bullies, very little actually triggered his anger.  A lie could do that though, and the previous year had shown this when he raged at a student who accused his father of an incestuous pedophilic act on him.  The entire class, minus Tiger, had been kept over the transition period for a good tongue lashing, while Tiger was allowed to go to his next class.  Word spread, and it became a known fact that you do not cause Tiger to rage by telling such lies, as well as the fact Tiger reacted, and rarely initiated aggression.

Tiger was otherwise a well dressed individual, though rather casual as he wore a white tank top, with a red long sleeved button up shirt he left completely unbuttoned.  He wore blue jeans and a pair of white and blue sneakers, as well as a watch on his left wrist.  Very simple, and conservative, which would be quite in contrast to his sister who was in another class.

---------

Zera was in her mechanics class, working on a project for her junior year.  She was short haired, not butch short, but still short, and was wearing a black tank top that showed some of her belly, and was fairly daring in how much of her bust line it showed.  She wore brown short shorts, and a pair of knee length half-inch heel boots.  Her bangles and finger rings were off of their normal places and kept in a bag in her locker for safety.  She also had her crop top jacket off to the side so she could work more easily on the machine she was working on.  Same for the sash she normally wore on her hips to cover her belly for school dress code reasons, even though she didn't show that much of her belly.  She was dressed to attract male attention as she was looking for a boyfriend, or a male friend she could have fun with.

That wasn't to mean she would be taken advantage of.  She was just as fit as her brother, having muscles that were visible on her arms, as well as the abs on her belly, what little was shown.  Same for her legs.  She was also almost as skilled as Tiger was in the martial arts, and she was just as smart.  She'd have to be as she too was looking to get into the CDF academy.  And woe be to any who would deny her that dream.  She was unaware of how close the bell was to ringing for lunch, though her stomach was letting her know with the occasional growl it was making.

Sven sat in the back of a chemistry class, he knew that lunch was soon, but the complicated mathematics combined with the new language was, well, alien to say the least. He kept up reading the display on the translator on his wrist, dashing down notes in his native tongue.

The ringing school bell marked the end of second period.

"Tonight's homework is posted on BlackBoard," Mr. Holbrook announced as students collected their books and personal effects to leave the classroom. "It is a journal entry on The Bright Side of Evil. Also, your rough draft for your book report is due by Wednsday. If you are finished, you can email the Word document to me for me to review it if you choose, but make sure you bring in a hard copy on Wednsday."

Amelia stuffed her notebook and textbook into her bag. Slinging her satchel over her shoulder, she made for the exit when Mr. Holbrook stopped her as she walked in front of his desk

"Miss Cimmaron?"

She stopped and turned to him. "What, am I in trouble for being a smart-ass?"

He chuckled and shook his head. "All things considered, I think I'll let that slide. But my question is what are you doing in this class?"

She blinked and raised an eyebrow, as if she wasn't sure what kind of answer he wanted. "...I'm doing... The work you assign us?"

He smiled. There goes that snark again. "That's not what I mean. I saw your transcript. You took AP courses in seventh grade, skipped eight grade, took college-level math and literature courses, as well as attended the Dual Enrollment program, and you are currently one of the top five in your class. You are only four credits from graduating, and this is your second year. So again, I ask you. What are you doing in this class?"

Amelia shrugged. "I dunno. I guess I wanted to take it easy this year."

"Take it easy? Would we be where we are today if William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe took it easy?"

"Well, see, they lived practically in the stone age, so they didn't have things like Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat to distract them. They had nothing better to do than writing about killing their uncles and having sex with their mothers."

"I see... Well, how is your rough draft coming along?"

"I emailed it to you last night."

"Okay..." Mr. Holbrook pursed his lips, not sure what else to say. "...So, I guess I'll see you tomorrow?"

"See you tomorrow Mr. Holbrook."

Mr. Holbrook watched Amelia as she left the classroom, on her way to lunch.

Tiger was one of the first out of the room as he went to meet up with Zera who had gotten her sash and crop top jacket back on as she headed to her locker to retrieve her rings and bangles. "Hey sis." Tiger said to her as he walked up alongside her. "How'd the class go?"

"Oh, it went well, actually." Zera said with a smile, the tip of her tail gently swishing back and forth. "I'm close to being finished on the engine we're working on.  What about you, bro?"

"It went well, actually." Tiger said, "That Amelia though, she's quite the snarky girl."

"I thought you liked snarky girls?" Zera asked with a smirk.

"Not her levels of snark." Tiger said, "It honestly, to me, bordered on disrespect.  But, to each their own." They then arrived at Zera's locker, where she proceeded to open her locker, and retrieve both her jewelry, and her lunch.

"I see." Zera said, "You like a girl who has a classier attitude?"

"Yeah." Tiger replied, "I'll find one sooner or later who fits the bill.  Amelia is a good friend, but she's not my type." They then started to head to his locker.

"Well, maybe you should talk to her about her snark, and how it can seem to some people to be disrespectful?" Zera asked, "As a friend of course."

"I could, but she's not known to listen to me." Tiger replied, "What about you?" He asked her, "I noticed you eying that transfer student this morning.  You interested in him?"

"Wh-wha?!" Zera replied in a bit of shock, blushing brightly. "I don't even know the first thing about him other than that he speaks Fichinan.  I mean, he could maybe use a friend...  But Tiger, this is a bit soon for me to even think about romance with him.  I think I should get to know him first, then see what happens."

"Fair enough." Tiger said as they finally reached his locker, and he opened it to deposit his books, retrieve the ones he'd need for the next class, and get his packed lunch. "You gotta stop dressing like that sooner or later." Tiger said, giving a glare to a guy who was giving Zera a lustful eye.  The guy stopped looking at her when he saw Tiger glaring, and sheepishly walked at a faster pace.

"Eh, I like the attention." Zera said, "Besides, it'll get me a boyfriend sooner or later." Tiger then closed his locker, and the two headed to the lunch room.  The two looked so different from each other, you would be forgiven for thinking they weren't related, but most of the school now knew that they were brother and sister.  The guys were generally careful around Zera when Tiger was near by, given he was rather protective of her.  But that didn't stop her from trying to associate with some guys.

"Just don't say I didn't warn you." Tiger said as they neared the cafeteria.

"Noted." Zera replied with a smirk, appreciating Tiger's concern and show of care for her well being.

Sven was following the crowd in the hall way. His schedule said "Lunch". After a moment, a pungent smell that he then compared to burning hair filled the air. He saw the thick patties slathered in a brownish sauce being slopped onto trays. He gave it an uneasy look, happy he brought his own food as he sat down at a table

(Is it cool if I join?)

There was a knock at the door. It was perfect, equally rhythmed and spaced almost eerily. The door opened revealing a white faced kit Fox with tall ears that seemed ever alert. His face was sotic and he spoke in a calm, clear voice so that he could be easily understood. He was young or atleast looked the part about between the range of 17 and 20. He wore a white shirt with a gray zipup hoodie with modest tan pants and normal colored conversers.

"Forgive me if I am intruding, I can leave if you so desire."

((That's fine. Mind you, it's lunch time, though.))

Amelia had stored her books and schoolbag away in her locker. On the way to the cafeteria, she counted out twenty credits in singles, making sure she had enough to buy lunch for herself and her brother, who came to school late. She entered the courtyard, making her way towards the cafeteria, whose patio was already swamped with students. She inwardly grimaced, figuring that the line was probably as long as her intestines by now. She didn't see Amber, Derek, or Max yet. They might already be in line.

Sven felt his pocket vibrate, reaching in he pulled out his cellphone. He tapped the notification. A short message from his adopted father played.

"Sven" the older lion began "I decided to finish the last coat of paint on your car." The camera panned over the car "I parked it in the second lot. Keys are on the inside of the left front rim." The message cut.

'That is awesome ' he thought to himself as he began to unwrap his lunch. 4 Sweet meat pastries, a pear and a bottle of lemon lime soda. He popped the lid on the fresh pastries and closed his eyes as the smell hit him. 'Smells like home' he picked up the first one.

Tiger and Zera found a table in the cafeteria, and sat down together.  They both sat at the same table as Sven, though not quite near enough to him to be noticed by him.  Though Tiger would cause the table to shift slightly as he sat on the bench due to his weight.  Two hundred and twenty pounds is going to cause the table to shift a little, no matter how gingerly it's put down.

Tiger then looked, and noticing Sven, gently elbowed Zera. "Hey, there's the guy." He said, "Why don't you introduce yourself to him?"

"T-Tiger!" Zera balked, and blushed again.  Tiger simply grinned at her, and she could tell he was going to pester her until she relented.  She made a little sigh, and looked back at him. "Fine, I'll say hi to him, but I will get to know him first.  If he's good, he's good.  If he's not, he definitely won't get a chance beyond friendship."

"Good enough." Tiger said, "Now get on it before I have to elbow you again." Well Zera didn't want to have him do that, so she moved to sit near the guy, making sure he had taken his first bite of his food and swallowed before she spoke to him.

"Excuse me, is this seat taken?" The pretty, voluptuous, and attractive tigress asked Sven with a friendly smile.  She was going to try and give a good impression, even if it didn't go anywhere but friendship.

Tiger meanwhile watched while smiling, he'd introduce himself to Sven later.  Likely after Zera pointed him out to the German Shepherd.  He watched for the other students, keeping an eye out for Amelia, Derek, Max, and Amber.  Though his attention was caught by a certain brindle shepherd girl that he caught a glimpse of.  Unfortunately, he didn't see where she had gone since the crowd was pretty big as they tended to be in High Schools. "Wow..." Tiger said to himself, "I see her again, I'm introducing myself to her." He then opened his bag, and took out a roast beef sandwich his father made for him.  He then began to eat it, still looking around for his friends.

Kaiba stared at an empty seat. He wondered if it was taken and emotionless witnessed Zera take the seat he was eyeing. He felt nothing, in fact was pleased somehow. "Hello," he chimed.

Zera didn't pay attention to the kit fox as she was more concerned with Sven at the moment.  She thought the guy was talking to someone else, hence why she didn't acknowledge his hello.  Tiger meanwhile saw what was going on, and glared at the kit fox.  This guy seemed new, so he'd cut him a little slack, unless he decided to get rough with his sister, in which case he would definitely give him what for in interrupting a conversation before it can even start.
