Creating my own website

fanfictiondreamer

Question

Ok, since my Ultimate Story is not getting off the ground and it's causing me to lose confidence in expressing it despite it not guaranteeing that it will get a lot of publicity, I thought I might create a website for it. However, I'm not sure of what to do or if I should even do it. I was thinking of receiving some advice on it if it is not inadvisable to make a website for it. Should I? If so, then what should I do and not do?

Creating a website is only the beginning. The hard part is getting people to visit your website. Just because you build it doesn't mean they will come. It's not the field of dreams.

Honestly, social media like a Tumblr or something is probably better-suited to your use case than creating a full site and trying to draw visitors.

Well, I honestly don't think this site is a good place to get publicity for your fanfic, mainly because of that the community here is pretty mature, and your fanfic as far as I've seen is family-targeted (Correct me if I am wrong). And I think the reason why you aren't getting much readers is not because people don't like your fanfic in general, but because you are showing it to the wrong audience.

For example, you probably aren't going to get much money if you try to sell carrots at a fruit store.

Kyubey summed that up pretty well.

As far as making a website goes, I'd recommend using something like Wix to make a website. I used that many years ago when I was in the 5th grade making websites for my old band. It's free and easy. (Like drag and drop and stuff.)

Here's the link if you want to try it out.

Au contraire! You'd tell them it's a fruit, and they'd me mystified my such an item. Having never seen such a fruit, they'd sell fast and for a lot of money, with billionaires wanting to try this rare new fruit!

It's the perfect scheme! :reggie:

Um... that was the Wii remote against regular controllers in 2006. Ten years ago!

At least they told you like it is, though. Sometimes, when presenting a story, some audiences need to know what they're gonna be readin', just like console announcements. If you keep that in mind, I'm confident you'll sell your story in no time.

To be honest, I'm not really sure. Lots of things get posted on social media sites so my story may be buried along with other posts. I need something in which my story will stick out like a sore thumb so people may be able to notice it. I'm sure a lot of people think this way and I'm worried that wanting to doing this may seem obnoxious, I honestly can't tell, but I want to be able to get this out and not getting enough attention is not going to do that. I thought making a website of my own may be more helpful because my story will be a lot less likely to be buried in other forums. Although the internet is an incredibly large network and my story will still be like a needle in a haystack. I am inexperienced with a lot of things because I'm not exactly a social butterfly and knowing how I am, that would be pointing out the obvious too much. I need something that I'm sure will really, really work for me.

I have posted my story on the following websites: Fanfiction.net, this one and a third one that I have not used since I was in high school (Xanga). Not ambitious enough?
