SF Redd
Well, I've had Windows 7 for a while. It's pretty good for gaming, with a well laid out UI and organised files. I keep getting notifications about my pending copy of free Windows 10. Which would you say is better for gaming? Simplicity isn't a concern, as I can work my way around a computer, so an OS being more simple and newcomer-friendly won't sway my opinion. Convenience and general performance is my main concern, as well as the amount of customisation. Thanks.
That Ain't Falco
10 is like 7, only slightly shit.
CommanderRed
7 is the best, 10 is still good. But 8 looks like 1996 AOL, those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
hoo
Stick with 7. I like 10 better, but some games have compatibility issues.
Clearwater
7. Why? Because Windows 10 reportedly has spyware built into it: https://www.rt.com/usa/311304-new-windows-privacy-issues/
That Ain't Falco
Not just reportedly. It literally has spyware built into it and enabled by default. (Hi, Microsoft.)
DZComposer
People are making way too much hey about Windows 10 and spying. The worst it does is send anonymized and scrambled words for spellcheck and auto-complete recommendations. Yeah, ad tracking sucks, but with the right browser plugins, who gives a shit, really? A lot of the talk about this is based in bullshit NSA conspiracy theories or assuming that because they can do something that they will do it. http://lifehacker.com/what-windows-10s-privacy-nightmare-settings-actually-1722267229 I especially find it entertaining that a lot of this shit is coming out of the Linux/FOSS community, who are ever so quick to accuse Microsoft of spreading FUD, yet have no problem with themselves spewing FUD about Microsoft. The one issue I do have with Windows 10 is the automatic driver updates. That has caused problems for people, most infamously when Windows Update shoved-out a bad nVidia driver that would over-write drivers installed directly from nVidia. Otherwise, I really think Windows 10 is the best OS Microsoft has made, aside from some relatively minor UI annoyances.

It should also be noted that the NSA receives and stores so much data on a regular basis if they wanted to do something specific to an individual or group of individuals, it would take a lot of digging and ultimately wouldn't be worth the time. I haven't used Windows 10 yet, and one of the main reasons I haven't is because older games have compatibility issues with Windows 10, and that has included TF2 for some users. So specifically for gaming, and even more specifically older games, Windows 7. Obviously Windows 7 has its own issues with compatibility, but that's a different discussion. unoservix
most of Windows 10's privacy concerns are bound up in Cortana, which you can easily do without if you want. on the other hand, your phone probably does the same things Cortana does. Icy
Windows 10 is great to me, but I loved Windows 8/8.1 as well, so I'm a little weird. I had to use an older computer that still has Windows 7 installed and it felt odd. I would personally never go back, but that's just me
Ori
So far I haven't had an issue with W10, installed once it came out. Never had the more notorious issues people kept talking about here and there. Performance is somewhat better at my build, though RAM consumption upped a little. I like some of the features it has and so far the only issues I had were minor incompatibility with older games (circa 2007 and prior) such as Mass Effect and such, but solved with some quick troubleshooting. W7 is still okay though. 10's just my preference but I guess I'm not exactly the voice of the populace, so no need to go spreading it around. :v
