Spotify Stops Playing on PC Tablet Screen Lock

hoo

Question

Hey guys. Lately I've been using my Windows 8.1 Insignia PC Tablet to play Spotify. The problem is, whenever I lock it, the tablet pauses my music. It's been really bugging me since I have to keep my tablet on and it wastes my battery. Any way around this? (Locking the tablet is basically like shutting a laptop.)

If the tablet goes into sleep mode, nothing will play. Basically, just the CPU and RAM are active, and at an extremely reduced power state, while every other component is turned off.

So, what is more important to you? Battery life or Spotify? Because you'd have to disable sleep mode, which means the device will use more battery.

It depends on the type of Spotify client he's using - mobile or desktop. The mobile client will play music even if your device is in sleep, as it's meant to be used when you don't always have your phone out. However the desktop client will stop streaming if you put your computer into sleep.

I'd assume if you're using a tablet running Windows 8.1, that it's running the desktop client?

YouTube does the same thing. It's possible that it's built into the app so that it doesn't conflict too heavily with the sales of the song.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I know that's why YouTube does it.

It's probably a sleep thing, but I'm asking if there is a way to keep it playing. It's probably a silly question, but you know.

Yeah, it is. Maybe there's a way to get the mobile version.
