Opinions on Krystal

I am aware that this may be redundant, however, I've had several people insist to me lately that nobody in the fandom likes Krystal. This, clearly, is total bullshit. So, I'd just like to get a simple idea of opinions of people who have played Adventures, Assault, or both. Your names will be public, so I can check on a couple of things, not so I can come to your house and kill you if you answer negatively.

"Why the other two questions?"

Because I've noticed a correlation between their responses, an opinions towards Krystal.

"What does Fara have to do with this?"

I've noticed that, for reasons unknown, Fara defenders often attack Krystal ruthlessly, despite them finding it difficult to explain why they like Fara, outside of "she's not Krystal."

 

Please respond honestly, and remember, this is for science.

I like Krystal, but I don't love her. I'd consider myself a casual Krystal fan. What I mean by that is that I am not a hardcore, die-hard, would do absolutely anything to support her kind of fan.

Same goes for Fara. Infact, I think I might like Fara a bit more than Krystal, mainly because she had a bit more personality in my opinion. 

And I've actually only played Command out of all of those, mainly because I do not have a GC. (If I had a GC I'd definitely play them).

Overall, I like both Fara and Krystal, but as I said I am a casual fan of them.

Same with Fara, but in her case it was that she never appeared in a game, only the comic.

I like both! And of course I have played and completed all the Star Fox games.

The way I see it, there's one of two reasons that someone may not like Krystal. Either, they dislike Adventures, and since Krystal was a big part of Adventures, their disdain extends to her, or, they've only seen her through what communities have shown of her, which tends to be particularly lewd things, and therefore don't like her for that.

As for Fara, I see her as confident. Not quite in the same way as Katt, however. I think she's more modest, but still confident in her abilities than Katt.

In any case, I like Krystal and have played Adventures and Assault. I've played the beginning of Command but high-tailed it out of there almost immediately.

Assault is definitely my favorite game in the series currently, so I definitely take preferance for it. Anyways, while I like Krystal I think the games could do with some better writing and make her more functional.

I have no significant say about Fara since I didn't read the comics or research much about the character.

Played Adventures, Assault, and Command. Krystal's introduction in Adventures was... eh. I felt there was some potential if they kept an actual role for her and explored her background, but that's just, poof, gone. Assault didn't have much role other than a rather generic love interest, and Command... eh.

The execution of the entire plot was poor, but the execution of the romance elements in specific was really, really poor. And unlike other series there with the convoluted, shifty and undecided love polygons, Command seems to make something that would be otherwise straightforward into a spaghetti-like mess.

As for an opinion on the character itself, the concept of a character from a different world, different culture and a race with potentially unique abilities (ESP/telepathy) is a plus. However, none of that is ever worked on or given a proper execution. The personality of the character doesn't show much otherwise. Looks are okay though that doesn't make a character in its entirety for me.

I do have a certain growing resent associated with the character over some people being irrationally attached to the character and extremely paranoid about quite literally anything happening with her in the series while at the same time not wanting her to be 'abandoned', but...

...That's a discussion for another thread.

Bottom line; when it comes to Fara or Krystal, I know little to nothing that could be notable elements of either, so this is a proper response:

I like Krystal, but I realize that she is seriously unnecessarily placed into the series, like, since she was supposed to have her own game but was placed into a very irrelevant role to make room for a face who'd sell more copies.

It's a shame she didn't have an all that useful gameplay role in assault either (though, arguably no one besides Fox, Falco and Wolf did either - I forget if Slippy was needed to see enemy health) since until scripted events everybody but you is invincible,
