CrypticQuery
Inb4 joke about the title of this game representing the CoD release cycle. The trailer came out the other day. I didn't particularly care for the first half of it (though some of those bipedal robotic characters were pretty awesome), but the second half starting around 1:32 caught my attention. If there is some outer space ship-based combat and planet exploration, and if that carries over to multiplayer in a certain capacity, that would be great. I wish they would have gone for Bowie's original rendition of Space Oddity, but otherwise the tune matched incredibly well. The engine and animations are showing their age again, however, and all of the recent installments have looked very similar in terms of their futuristic aesthetic. Of course the primary reason I'll probably end up picking this up is because of the included Call of Duty 4 remaster (seen at 2:58); I played the hell out of the original Modern Warfare's campaign and multiplayer for nearly two and a half years after its release (the lack of a yearly release schedule at the time was a beautiful thing). To see it remastered as nicely as it was at the end of this trailer really puts a smile on my face, and considering that it will also have multiplayer makes it even better. The major caveats are that the remaster cannot be purchased separately, it only includes ten of the original sixteen multiplayer maps, and it can only be obtained with the $80 version of Infinite Warfare. Hopefully Activision reconsiders their stance on that. Not to mention that the next Battlefield game is supposed to be teased later on this week. I'm looking forward to seeing how that turns out since I never had the chance to play the fourth game, but played Bad Company 2 just about as much as I played CoD4. Dr. Orange
Spoiler First off, "So there's going to be a new Call of Duty" Second off: I've never been so confused. I got into CoD with MW1, 2, 3, CoD 3 and World at War 1, 2. I remember very clearly that they were an adaption on current conflict on Earth. I held my tongue with the new Black Ops and Advanced Warfare since it no longer was a story with an accurate description of war. MW2's ending was brutal and had a quality that you can get with a war game. Advanced Warfare didn't have that. And now there's this new game. Which is, like, no longer a Call of Duty game. Now it's like Sins FPS + Robots and Future. It's weird but I can give this game a more fair analysis since it doesn't feel like Call of Duty anymore. This is something new. CrypticQuery
I thought we were keeping the "So There's Going to Be" title format to The Picture House, but given your blessing I've now edited the title of this thread. You're right though - it has furnished enough change to be considered separately from its predecessors, at least in terms of appearance and setting. I'll reserve judgement until more information is shown on it, but I'm intrigued to see where it goes and how multiplayer compares to the campaign.

Oh shit. Were we keeping that in Picture House? Because I have no clue.
Scourge
Nothing of value was added to the gaming community as a whole. Thankyou Call of Duty, for continuing to waste absolutely everyone's time.
MikeMurdock
for myself i never was a fan of COD. especially when the games as of late is just taking ideas from others to try to stay relevant advance warfare i picture activision going ' oh look at that titan fall with the jump packs and stuff . let's do that ' Black ops 3 i picture them going' oh look at dues ex with all the cybernetics and coolness. let's do that' i think this one they went ' hey look at that dere planetside 2 and elite dangerous. let's do that' then again i'm more of a old school FPS fan with rocket jumping, fighitng for the health kit/power up, and the gotta go fast. Harmony Descent
I would also like to point out that the dislike bar on the video on the Call of Duty YouTube channel is far more than the likes; I laughed for about 2 minutes. Ever since Advanced Warfare's release, subsequent Call of Duty's - in my eyes - have mirrored the design and aesthetics of that game, but added a few mechanics. Advanced Warfare introduced the double-jump and exo-crap; Black Ops 3 continued it with more crap with the exo-crap; Infinite Warfare seems to add more over-the-top crap to go along with the exo-crap that wasn't necessary in the first place. Also, space is cool and all, but I think Call of Duty should try to mix it up a bit and maybe go back to the WWII era - hell, I would be shocked if they went to WWI. I can only dream since the CoD name has been tarnished for a while now and I HIGHLY doubt they will even consider backtracking to that era. I still own World at War, but haven't played it in over a year and I still consider it one of my favorite Call of Duty games next to Modern Warfare 1. Also, I vowed to never buy another Call of Duty game after my sour experience in Modern Warfare 2. To my credit and joy, I'm glad I've saved my money on better games! CrypticQuery
I concur on the distaste for the exo-based jumping movement - I don't really care for it and all it seems to do is speed up the already quick gameplay to an unnecessary level. It also looks like you got your wish, Harmony. The next Battlefield game was just teased, and it's heading back to WWI. Color me enthused.

Animal Pilot
I find it kind of funny that on a forum dedicated to space combat games people are making fun of the idea of a space combat shooter that includes fighter jets battling over capital ships. As if that is beneath a franchise that people seem to dislike anyway. If the developers deliver on the premise with fun gameplay in a stripped down future setting without having a million cutscenes breaking up the action or the usual stale objectives and linear corridors that make me not want to ever touch one of these again, I will vote with my wallet and buy this. Just because they took a risk this time instead of tweaking a few things like they always do.

I'm more that I feel they just leech off more sucessful IPs just to stay relevant. Kinda like how the 90s movie studios try totake ideas that were popular for the time and place it in there movie to pease a certain audience. I'm not saying they should have a go at it. I'm more saying that I feel there just trying to appease to the Elite Dangerous and PLanetside 2 crowd with this installment

Well my good sir, I do believe you are missing a very important detail in your comparison and that is... our game isn't casual fucking shit.
CommanderRed
Last CoD game I've played was MW2, which I think is the best, right infront of Call of Duty 2. I never really liked the new CoD games due to just the people who play them, I just want to shoot people in a game, not hear literal cancer being spewed out. Some of the CoD games don't have that good of a SouthPaw control though, that's why I never liked some of the newer ones. I want to get a SouthPaw Xbox Controller but have never seen one online. Yes, I move with the right stick and look with the left stick and shoot with the left trigger and aim with the right trigger. It's weird but that's how I play.
