DZComposer
Me and dwight have gotten a few PMs, some on the borderline of being spam, about adding a shoutbox. SFO will not be implementing a shoutbox. It's a security hole. Several SMF based forums have, in the past, been hijacked through them. A 3rd party shoutbox has also been suggested. This thing can't be integrated into SMF or Wordpress without manually editing files. Doing this could fudge future software updates. Plus, this "cbox" is not a free package. There may be a "free beer" version, but I would prefer to keep SFO running on Open Source software ("free speech") as much as possible. The server runs the LAMP stack, and SMF and Wordpress are both OSS front-ends. Another reason I don't want a shoutbox is that spambots love them. Mr. Krystal
I wouldn't call it spam, but yeah, no shoutboxes.
Conall Drest
Good cause shoutboxes annoyed me on the KLA. Plus they got hacked cause of it one time. Besides the say something random topic is kinda a shoutbox on its own without the security risks.

Leo K. Lighthouse
we already have a "Say Something Random" thread so a shoutbox seems redundant, but I like them they're fun but not worth the risks I guess...
