EXACTLY! Listen 14... whatever, if you want grimdark StarFox there's nothing stopping you from writing a fanfic that has a tone that's an unholy threesome of Watchmen, Schindler's List and the Revelation Space universe. Nothing but you of course, and judging by the fact that you're spending your time being deliberately obtuse (and I'm putting it nicely, believe me there are a lot of other worse adjectives I could scream at you) in forums rather than writing something, you probably will keep stopping yourself. In short? Harsh? Yes. But after difficulty getting to sleep last night and a 2+ page thread of this shit I'm getting very tired of you.
Storminator
Numbers, you are indeed a conundrum. You really don't know how to formulate a proper reply, do you? Instead of trying to see the other person's point and why they would agree or disagree, you simply ignore what they say and try and feed them more of your darkgrim ideas or ask them yet anoter pointless question. Now I know you go by the username zerodoctor123 on Reddit, and you pull the exact same stuff on there, and lo-and-behold, people don't like it there either. Please stop, or at the very least make something of your weird theories and designs and Japanese Ansestory whatever it is and stop bothering everyone with it! You start the thread with some grimdark bullshit. Then everyone tells you why it is in fact bullshit You then say well if its so cartoony then there should be LITERAL SPACE BATTLESHIPS At which point I point out yes, actually, that sort of shit is in some form or another, in Starfox. There are the classic "spaceships designed like a warship" types that have graced every space opera anime since 1973, there's the fact the Greatfox can in fact LAND IN WATER. Oh, and there's Aquarosa too. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/starfox/images/5/5f/SFZ-Aquarosa.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20160427052456 Which is a giant fucking battleship/space station/whatever ALSO IN THE WATER And you reply with a picture of the Yamato. Ok? You are indeed confirming that yes Starfox is cartoony anime trash and therefore not fit for your grimdark reality? (Ignoring the fact that Yamato was often pretty dark itself...) I don't know what the fuck you're trying to say. I feel like I'm being rused here. That or your definition of a space battleship is so narrow that unless Starfox LITERALLY HAS THE YAMATO then it doesn't count and therefore isn't cartoony enough?? I don't even know any more. I'm talking that it doesnt necessarillyhave to be the yamato, just insired by the design. yes i am aware that it was often pretty dark at times but it's just the design of the ship i'm afrer. they actually remade the anime 5 years ago so that the ship is now just a different ship built in the configuration of a naval battleship not converted from the wreck of a naval battleship. the "Wreck" being a camouflage to hide it from the enemy

unoservix
i mean there was one thread where he got inexplicably belligerent but usually he just exhibits neutron star-level density while emitting goofy ideas in an impenetrably fragmented way, which somehow brings some shadows of activity to this otherwise necrotic forum, soooooo idk lol

ArwingFan
That's kind of the point of the games, the Cornerian fleet isn't competent enough to fight off the Venomian army/evil aliens of the week/whatever so General Pepper hires Star Fox to save the day. Robert Monroe
Starfox Zero actually shows the Cornerian battleships damn competent in battle without detracting from the player's experience as the elite ace pilot dudes.
unoservix
besides which i'm not sure what Space Battleship Yamato ripoffs would do to, like, help them or something i mean it's sort of dumb to begin with because Star Fox already gives us plenty of examples of small fighter craft bringing down much larger heavily-armed targets, and being vulnerable to small aircraft and relatively inexpensive weapons was what made the actual battleships of yore obsolete and not very useful. and then with space battleships once you figure out that they have highly exposed bridge towers and all the guns are only on one side and can't protect the other side and you're in space and you can reach beyond old Khan and his two-dimensional thinking, they're just extra dumb. also also...lol, Star Fox is a furry ripoff of Star Wars, okay, sure. i mean Star Fox is just an amalgamation of a variety of different sci-fi but notably does not give a central role to anything remotely comparable to the Force and the mystical warriors who wield its powers but okay whatever. Here was one such ripoff: They would probably go in and make the enemy easier to deal with . Also the original was heavilly armed and armored and in battles in the anime, no matter how many times it takes hits, it still keeps going and still keeps firing. Like Yamato they have a wave motion gun but they don't spam it and only use it as a last resort weapon. IJN took on eleven torpedoes and six bombs before sinking, IJN Musashi took on 19 torpedoes and 17 bombs before sinking. The Yamato franchise had instances of 3D space being acknowledged. Though there are 3d space battles in Resurrection and 2199. I'm also going by this redesign that somebody on the internet made: Note: It's hard to see but there are ball turrets in the design also regardless, they hardly show 3d space battles in some sci fi movies and games over the fact that it would disorient and confuse the audience and for the case of games, add complexity and reduced playability, for no real gains. Nobody uses 3d space in sci fi battles because it's confusing and disorienting at the same time. I think adventures added the mystical aspect. The Game seems almost like the dagobah sequence in episode 5 5 hours ago, ArwingFan said: That's kind of the point of the games, the Cornerian fleet isn't competent enough to fight off the Venomian army/evil aliens of the week/whatever so General Pepper hires Star Fox to save the day. I wonder is a ship like the (Space Battleship) Yamato would make a difference, that's if the crew of that ship are competent. However I can see StarFox working together with these cornerian "Yamato"s in a situation where the enemy's numbers are simply too much for one to deal with. Also i kinda thought this up because it seems embarrassing that your military sucks and you rely on just 4 lowly mercenaries. Why not just put the whole load on the mercenaries, remove the military, and then sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. And then you realize you're vulnerable when they disband (for personal reasons) and you have no military.
ArwingFan
The whole "ragtag band of heroes defeating vast armies of evil" is a pretty universal trope, especially in video games. Like Rob mentioned the Cornerians were somewhat competent in Zero so you could just think of it as a closely tied war with Star Fox being the winning factor. unoservix
it's fascinating how you manage to completely miss the point in entirely predictable but no less entertaining ways. like, i say "battleships were obsolete and useless because inexpensive weapons could take them out of action," and then you go and cite two examples where inexpensive weapons destroy expensive enormous battleships. i say that Star Fox doesn't rely on a mystical element as a central piece of its story and universe, and you do exactly what i expected you'd do and cite the example that proves my point. i say these space-faring naval battleships are dumb and you go and give me an example of an especially dumb one, which also contradicts your earlier insistence that it should be able to operate on water. someone else says that a competent Cornerian military would eliminate the need for the Star Fox team and thus eliminate the basis of the Star Fox games, and, uh, you seem to be entirely on board with that, or something? anyway sorry bro but your ideas are stupid, full stop.
