Ori
i guess some of you will double-take the title, which is an understandable response as any there's an old saying i like: "let old phantoms rest" ---- In all seriousness though, Konami announced they'll be futurely launching a standalone survival game "set in an alternate universe" based on Metal Gear Solid. This has obviously cause quite a stir. Not sure if I can say much about that as survival horror games haven't really ever been my genre, although this feels like a very lazy excuse to milk on the Metal Gear name. LoneWolf
This feels like a really out of touch move that a company that made, oh, I don't know, Pachinko machines might make. Fuck Konami and this cash grab. This title is going to sell really poorly, and their execs are going to use it as an excuse to say "oh, guess nobody is interested in metal gear anymore, time to cut our losses and move on". Guest
I've seen this a few times on ReviewTechUSA and The Jimquisition, needless to say. It wasn't all roses from there. With that in mind, I have no knowledge about Metal Gear Solid series besides Smash. So I am indifferent on this.
TrishaCat
Zombie games are an oversaturated market at this point. I don't see what Konami could add to the table, and using Metal Gear as a means to try its hand at the genre isn't exactly pleasant. But if they can keep the core stealth focus of MGS games in it it could be something.
Patch93
Before you'll know it there will be a petition to cancel it like what happened with Federation Force....and unsurprisingly, it will fail.

Expand This is something I wholeheartedly agree with. Ever since Resi 4, post-apocalyptic/dystoptian/alternate future/random s**t zombie games have been becoming more and more and more cliché in media. I mean, yeah, there are some exceptions (Fallout, Left 4 Dead, etc), but only because they try not to go the whole hog with the 'survive against brainless hungry hippos', and actually put in some human elements in there as well. So long as Konami don't go the whole price hog with this, I'll be content. Not ecstatic, but just content. In the meantime though, I'll keep following Hideo Kojima's new game that he's doing with Sony.
