Youtube Account

fanfictiondreamer

Question

Ok, so I have a Youtube account that was automatically given to me for having a gmail account. I have my own channel, I can log on to Youtube anytime I like, I can subscribe to other users and all that stuff, however, I can't change my name on my Youtube account. It won't let me do it sometimes and even when I do, I would also be changing my name on my gmail account as well as other accounts I have tied to it on Google. Is there a way for me to have a username on Youtube and only use it for Youtube? Because I don't want people to see my real name on Youtube.

You can actually make 2 user accounts with 1 single Gmail account. I can't remember what the precise steps were, but if you have 2 user accounts, every time you log in, you'll be prompted to choose an account to use.

Well, it's kind of too late now to hide my real name since it's on the internet now. My brother had me sign up to Facebook since I started college 10 years ago, with my real name included. I have been very timid about sharing my real name and face on the internet because there can be a lot of nasty people online and I am very scared of receiving attention from them. I was told by my brother that Facebook is relatively safe and so far, nothing has happened to me, knock on wood. (Knocking on my wooden chair that I usually put my feet up on) I will not, however, put in where I live. It's best that complete strangers have no idea about where I live.

Unless your the heir to some rich fortune I'd wouldn't worry about people funding your real name. In all honestly, everyone'sname is somewhere on the Internet from creating an account or signing up for something. Hell even my name is on this site hidden in the pages.

Funding I'm not so much worried about, I don't want to become another unlucky individual, whom by some really bad stroke of luck, becomes a stalking victim. There are a lot of bad people out there and there is always someone crazy who will obsess over someone and then become that person's worst nightmare. Then again, I inherited my dad's paranoia so maybe I'm just over embellishing on that possibility. Now that I think about it, I don't think I need to really worry about that.

Start a game of this on Rec Room if you please. Speaking of Rec Room, I started a new game on my 20 Questions thread. Feel free to stop by whenever you like.

That wasn't a game. This is a thread in the interest of Internet security and information. This is just an example to show if it's out there, someone can find it. The $5 game is just an incentive. I'm completely serious. I think to worry if someone, out of the blue, would want to patronize anyone so I'm just trying to show that no matter what the info is out there.

Just gotta chiiiilllll.

My YouTube account is from back when YouTube and Gmail accounts were separate things. So when the "Google Account" became a thing, I essentially got two YouTube aliases out of one account. One is the name associated with the Gmail side, the other is the alias I've always used on YouTube. If I remember correctly, when you create a Google account nowadays, you still have the same two-alias setup. You should be able to change your channel name if you don't want it to be your real name.

Hm...I'm actually planning on starting a video project involving me talking a lot about myself. I will most likely be showing my face so I would think that hiding behind a username will be pointless, unless you would recommend having me not show my face on these videos that I'm planning on making.

Both are equally dangerous tools if given to the wrong hands. For example, having an uncommon name makes it easier to search and find you. At the same time, there is so much else out there, someone would have to be very determined to go after your more intimate details.

I have been worried about that, but I am just so...I want to get myself out there so much, and yet I worry constantly about the risks of doing so. Emile was brave enough to do that and...I don't know, maybe I would be making a mistake. I want to be more outgoing just like him, but are the risks truly worth taking?

I find I'm always hesitant to post something, but once I do, it doesn't feel so bad.

Another question that I have about the Youtube Account. Do you receive emails on the Youtube Account or do you receive emails from other Youtube users in your Google email account?

It notifies you that someone made a reply to a comment on youtube. It doesn't show your email unless it's connected/shown on the Google+ account.
