ITS PERFECT

Its basically a Vita crossed with a PSTV with better specs than those that's actually getting games. Finally a Nintendo handheld that isn't underpowered. The fact that it takes cartridges like the rumors implied is pretty cool too. Faster load times, basically. The size of the cartridge slot makes me wonder if its backwards compatible with the 3DS and if it is, if  3DS games be played at a higher resolution.

EDIT:

Since this doesn't have any weird control gimmicks, and since Platinum Games is doing something on the Switch, I wonder if they're going to fix Star Fox Zero's controls and release it on this.

Sony and Microsoft will be scrambling for sure after seeing this.  They learned not to underestimate Nintendo with the Wii, and while the WiiU was a falter point, the Switch, Nintendo's latest console, is why Nintendo are the KINGS of video gaming.  Just you wait, the Playstation 5 and XboxOne's successor I am betting you will be changed radically to compete.

If Nintendo can hold on to the third parties they've gathered, it will work. If not, it will be the Wii U all over again.

The hardware is ARM based, not x86, and likely is less powerful than the original PS4. If that is the case, it needs to move units to keep those developers interested because porting to this thing will take extra effort.

Betcha it can't be nearly as difficult as the for the Wii U, though, which used the severely outdated PowerPC hardware, I've been told.

And I'm sure it will move something, seeing the views and likes on the trailer now, and the amount of praise it's currently getting from Youtubers all around.

AKA: Wii U is Nintendo's Sega Saturn, and Switch is the Dreamcast if that were to happen. Let's cross our fingers that this won't be the case. Let's also hope Q-Games appears any time soon because with Platinum around for game development, I fear things will get uglier for the Starfox (or even other) fandoms, especially with F-Zero rumors.

Nintendo's handhelds have always been able to get lots of 3rd party support. I'm sure it'll do fine in that regard. I see this less as a successor to the Wii U and more as a successor to the 3DS.

I'm thoroughly intrigued by the Switch, and want to like it.  My PS4 hasn't seen much use aside from Uncharted 4 and Ratchet and Clank, and if Nintendo can put enough games on the thing then it would be a serious contender in my book.  If it could be used during road trips as well that would be great.  Having a screen included is a bonus in that regard.
