Could there be a Starfox anime coming to CN?

As I see several cartoon series, most of the from Cartoon Network, end, I currently have an excellent question: Is Nintendo being quiet as always, and trying to prepare some type of surprise for us? Sure, the short was awful, but what was made in that period and wasn't? The criticism provided by fans could help Nintendo construct a pilot for some type of anime series for Starfox. With Krystal becoming 15 in 2017, and the series being 30 in 2018, this would be the best moment for them to consider doing such thing. As a plus, there's Switch.

Pokémon is an example of an anime that's on CN that, somehow, belongs to Nintendo, and, as said above, Regular Show, Adventure Time, and Gumball is ending. If you put it all together, it somehow makes sense.

If they were to do such thing, I'd hope that OLM could be responsible for it. They did Pokémon, but also the Animal Crossing movie (which IMO was brilliant), and even Yo-Kai Watch. If they'd do something less cheesy than the short, and with a deeper storyline (particularly of the characters), you have made a penguin happy.

So, does anybody believe there is even a slight possibility that this could happen, or is it far fetched?

Came to read about rumors, is disappointed.

A StarFox anime might actually be enough for me to start watching Cartoon Network again.

Then again, knowing modern Cartoon Network, they'd probably can it before the first season was even over and put more Teen Titans Go pap in its place.

Swing that to another channel, and it won't be far fetched.  But CN?  Aside from bringing Toonami back for Adult Swim, blech.  Honestly, give this to Nickelodeon or Disney XD, and it'll last a good long time.  As experimental as Cartoon Network may be, they've shown that they only stick long term to anything that's been proven.  A Star Fox cartoon?  Unproven.  They don't give shows a proper chance, even ones with a rocky start that wind up showing promise at the end of the first season like the Thundercats reboot, they don't care.  If it ain't proven or super successful immediately, you might as well forget it.  Star Fox has lately proven to be less than super successful, so I agree with Rusakov here.

However, give it to Disney or Nickelodeon, and then we're talking.  We'll at least get two seasons with them if Gravity Falls and Wonder over Yonder are any indication.  Least for Disney anyways, not sure what shows Nick has had lately that people generally liked, but not enough to make them last beyond two seasons...

Who said the short we got to promote Zero was bad? As far as I know quite a lot of poeple liked it. While a Star Fox anime on TV would be nice, I doubt it'll happen. One being produced for an online service, something like Netflix for Nintendo IP's would be good. But trying to make a baseless corrolation between a bunch of CN shows being pulled and Krystal being 17 (Like... what? That literally has nothing to do with anything) isn't a good case for speculation.

We can hope and dream and certainly by hypothetical, but its weird that you'd be so specific with a TV network and phrase the title as a question to as if this might be something likely to happen.

I second that! I LOVED the short!! I know it may be corny, but honestly, I really liked it that way. But that's just my opinion. :p

[One correction: Adult Swim is actually considered its own network right now with its own executives. They just share the same channel as Cartoon Network. And now for the meat of my post...]

My thoughts exactly. CN seems to be trying to get a SpongeBob for its lineup. An instant hit that they can milk for about two decades.

But they're going about it the wrong way. SpongeBob's success didn't happen in a vaccuum, Nickelodeon was (at the time) throwing cartoons at the wall left and right while giving them a decent amount of time to prove themselves. The recognition of SpongeBob's roaring success was ex post facto in the sense that Nickelodeon waited a while to see what would happen and didn't cancel it before the first season finale.

Meanwhile, Cartoon Network is being lead by a bunch of dimwits who cancel any show that isn't instantly super-successful in the first few episodes. At this point, I'm not sure if I even care that much. CN has been dead cat bouncing for nearly a decade (maybe longer) now. They can hemorrhage viewers and income until they make a final collapse for all I care, the execs certainly stopped giving a shit a long time ago.

i though the short was pretty good overall, sure it had it's problems but it was still good in my eyes. anyway to the main topic, i think it would be cool to have a Star Fox animated show.tumblr_nicglbRitt1tsw010o1_500.gif

If they'd were to do an anime, they should probably choose Assault's character design for non-Smash characters, which most fans are familiar with, and Brawl's for Fox, Falco, and Wolf, just because.

Voice acting should be something like Brawl's, if not, more decent than it (but after Smash 4, I kind of think that's high hopes).

As for episode storyline, a bit of present events, some reminiscence and flashbacks, especially to things not mentioned in-game (more about characters like Yaru, Bear, Deslar; a deeper exploration in pre-war Lylat, and the people involved in the Lylat War, like Beltino, General Pepper, Bill Grey, etc., etc., etc...; what happened on the periods before James' death, both in James' life, and the lived of the people involved; a deeper storytelling about the "current" characters' childhoods). It would also be cool to have one of these flashbacks be retelling of comics like Benny's SNES one that ran in NP (man, just that podcast SF-O made make me feel really hopeful of the results of this type of episode!).

I sometimes also think about Nintendo exploring more about the idea of an "opposite world": the world of the ancestors, if you may. Japanese culture is rich in ghost stories, and this could be explored more in the series, especially with characters like Krystal around. What happened to characters like James, Randorn, or even Andross in their afterlives? As mentioned above, one of the figures in Japanese folklore is the yurei, which, coincidentally, are ghosts who seek revenge; they died in violent ways, such as murder, and weren't given a proper funeral. Until emotional conflicts are resolved, the spirit will continue to haunt the ones around them. Especially the events in Assault, this all make me believe that perhaps Fox still has a lot to do emotionally regarding James, and the reason the Aparoid Queen used a pseudo version of James was exactly because of this. Point is that I'd really want to see more involvement and connection between living characters and the ones they have lost. I can feel that this idea of the opposite world could explain more about Fox and Krystal's bonding, as well as why Fox befriended certain characters and put on the team: why could he have chosen Slippy and Falco, with characters like Bill and Lucy around?

I know everything I am envisioning may seem like an impossible dream, but image... It would be really awesome!

As experimental as Cartoon Network may be

[Sorry about the thread necromancy, but there is something I'd like to add.]

I'd argue that Cartoon Network actually isn't that experimental anymore.

Nearly all of their shows now are lolsorandom!!11! cartoons (possible exceptions being We Bare Bears, which AFAIK isn't shown very often, yet another Scooby Doo series, the Ben 10 franchise [LET IT DIE ALREADY CN!] and the abhorrent 2016 Powerpuff Girls reboot, and some on this list might be debatable). And that's all they've been producing since around 2013 or so.

Aside from those exceptions (and again, some of them might not be "exceptions" at all), every other genre of cartoon that don't include LSD-style humor has been cancelled and new shows that aren't the lolsorandom!!11! kind aren't even being being produced anymore.

All that considered, tell me: would StarFox, an action franchise with a distinct lack of random psychedelic humor, be given a chance on CN? Definitely not in this era and might not even be green-lit to begin with.
