sjrathbun812
I ponder which a man prefers: tom boys, or what you might call "girly girls". So, just for fun, I thought I'd make a topic where the male portion of this community gave there separate opinions. You can simply enter it in the poll or elaborate a bit more in a post. -- Coming from a girl though... I personally believe all straight men want a woman who they find pretty. This can stretch way beyond natural good looks, to the extent of how she dresses, wears make up, etc. At the same time, they seem to like a girl who, personality wise, is a bit more masculine, and thus more relatable. That being said, I think they like a girl balanced in between those two things. Of course, this is a question heavily influenced by opinion, so no one answer necessarily applies to all men out there. But if I were to generalize things, I think that most men like women who will give them the best of both worlds. Understandably, heh. -- Also, concerning me... My discouragement comes in when I think about how much men really like girls that know how to dress, wear make up tastefully, and oh yeah, hair. One must never forget about hair, lol. I know very little of those things despite being a girl. Which really kind of stinks because there are times when I want to step things up and hopefully impress a man visually, I just don't know how. Wear a dress maybe... who knows, lol. Thankfully, these kinds of things are things one can improve on, so I don't think I'm hopeless. I think I just need to research a bit more and practice. So if this is the case, do you guys think my predicament is all that severe? Would it be that important to you if your girl was a bit clueless in these areas? The VGM Lover
If you ask me personally, one does not need to know true fashion, how to wear makeup, or how to dress up their hair, to look pretty. All that one really needs to know, is how to smile, and get up. Also personally, I seem to prefer tomboys over girly girls whether or not I know it, anyways. Give me Daisy over Peach any day, for example.
Tiger Carson
I have no true preference when it comes to women, speaking as a man. I've been attracted to all sorts of ladies, ranging from big girls, to thin ones, tall girls and short, from very girly girls, to tomboys, and everything in between. Though I would like it if the girl has similar interests as me. That is, she's as much a nerd or geek as I am. I also look more towards personality too, it doesn't matter if she has the best looks out there, if her personality is crap. Which goes without saying I suppose... As for you, just be yourself, treat others with respect, and make a good example for others to follow. You don't need to do much more than that. If a guy is to fall in love with you, it's best he does so for who you really are, not a mask that so many think they need to put on. No relationship can stand for long if it's not based on who and what the people in it actually are. Don't change yourself just for a person, nor expect them to change just for you. If you can't handle their problems now, and they can't handle yours, then there's little likely hood that those problems can be handled later on. I've learned it's best to work those problems out now, as well as to deal with them now, than let them fester for a long time. Just my two cents on that area. sjrathbun812
@Tiger Carson Very true input. If the things you like about someone and they like about you are merely superficial then that's how strong the connection in your relationship is going to be. Superficial. And when you only connect on a very surface level then you're certainly not going to stick through thick and thin. I also think some change isn't bad. Like if a guy wanted me to start wearing make up. I can do that. But if he were to say, "Your laugh is stupid," .... Heh, well, how do you expect me to change that, lol. If you don't like it, fine. Go find someone else, lol. @amcintyr9998 Good to know us Tom girls aren't utterly unappealing! xD
Dr. Orange
Just for conversation I've never really cared. I'm not going to lie I would love to have fucking J.Law, 10/10 woymn to match my hunk of a sexy ass that I am. I'm a dude it's our natural wetdream. But reality there's more to it than just Tom Boy or not. I'd like to meet someone who's smart, who's willing to take an adventure, and who's able to switch between class and wild. I'm kind of curious on the reverse. What do chicks look for in guys?
sjrathbun812
Indeed. Everyone has their particulars. Not everyone can be pigeon holed. I notice that "no preference" is catching up to "the girl in between." Interesting. Granted, not many have voted, but coming from a small sample of thought it would seem not many are either extreme. If you're curious on the reverse, maybe you could make a reverse topic! I thought of doing it myself, but then I thought maybe the guys should be the ones to ask the questions, heh. Hunter
Personally I prefer more feminine women who compliment my masculinity. Though the women who tend to share interests in the same fandoms as I do are almost always the tomboyish type. Not to generalize, but that's just my experience. As far as tomboys go I like how I can pig out in front of a girl, as she does the same thing, and I don't have to worry about manners. Though I don't like to feel competitive to a woman in regards to masculinity. I guess you can say I like being the hero, feeling needed, and such. With all that said I do prefer the girly type. Longer hair, dresses, more feminine qualities that create a distinct contrast to my masculinity. In terms of dating the priority is personality, and looks are secondary. Common interests go a long way, and if the interests in the same fandoms are present I won't mind if they lean more towards tomboyish.
