"Amai" she introduced herself to the other, giving her a light smile.  She looked at the other.  "I was on a shuttle to the star command training camp when we were hit by a large EM disturbance.  My pod broke away prematurely and now I'm here..."

"Took a joyride on a ship I made, kinda sad to say that a pre-flight check would of have been nice, hehehe..." Loran's ears twitch a bit low. "Wonder how the crew's doing, since that was technically illegal to do for a capital pilot...Oh well!"

She looks towards Amai, and then to the shuttle, moving towards it. "Since we all are from different militaries, I think, it won't be long until we're found, I guess...Perhaps I should check on Muyrin...?"

Muryin again did as she was instructed and did her best not to aggravated him. She emptied her pockets after placing the food cache on the floor in front of him. First was her wallet full of credentials and colonial credit bills, then came an old pocket knife given to her by her mentor followed by a laser pointer and a photograph of her and the rest of her unit.

There was a look of realization on her face. She remembered that her uniform had interior pockets.

"Mr. Andrej sir, shall I disrobe as well," she asks innocently.

Although Andrej thanked her for her peaceful cooperation, he carefully watched her hands, pointing the gun at the woman, to give himself enough time to react to a sudden ambush. Should she ever attempt to draw something out fast, a bullet would leave the barrel and drill through the young lady's heart – and load his conscience with another unlucky victim. A situation, he hoped that would never occur.

Giving his okay to her request after some thought, that mostly involved how his wife would massacre the soldier if she could see him now, he asked awkwardly, “Are you alone? N-Not that I want to...” He laughed, felt like an idiot and continued, “...you know, but if you have some survivors with you, then I'm afraid that I will have to search them as well.”

Minutes ticked by without a sound, or any (as far as the vixen could tell) movement. Shepherd aimed her blaster up towards the cliff top a best she could without stepping to far out of her less than stellar cover.

A moment or two later, she was beginning to feel a bit antsy. If it hadn't peeked over the edge, or attempted to ambush from above, just what was it doing? The cerinian rolled a few theories through her mind. Of course, the hain wasn't technically alive, it could wait her out until dark, weeks even.

Then she heard it, a faint crack echoed through the air. It almost sounded like primitive black powder...

"Gunfire..." Shepherd finished aloud, glancing in the approximate direction of the noise.

It sounded far off, more than that it obviously wasn't a sound made by a bolt of plasma, or any other directed energy weapon she was familiar with. But, where you found  gunfire, you found people.

primitive unwashed pre-modern people, but people who'd probably shoot the robot before the alien.

The vixen frowned as she began devising a new course of action, of course, even if their were people around that didn't immediately mean friendly... there was also the single shot to consider, with how her luck had been today she could end up finding a mangled mess.

With a shake of her head Shepherd cleared any further thoughts on the matter besides the resolve to act, anymore holes poked in this Swiss cheese of a plan and the fox might just convince herself to start waving white flags. She reached down to a pouch on her belt and retrieved a cylindrical object and prepared to lob it upwards, taking further steps away from the cliff face.

Four feet away from the wall... eight feet away from the wall...

Six-teen feet...

twen- Okay, now where'd the damn robot go?!

Shepherd panicked slightly as she scanned over the rest of the cliff top, finding nothing. This was too good to be true, her face wore confusion and skepticism. Slowly the vixen tested just how far she could go, fully expecting the light bulb face to pop up at any moment with a super-heated surprise. Eventually, she was out of her effective range to properly use the device in her hand and returned the gadget back into the pouch, then grasped her blaster with both hands and carefully made for the other weapon she'd used for distraction earlier.

Once the gun was retrieved, Shepherd made one last scan of the cliff top, before summoning what strength she had left for a mad dash back into the foliage. Leaving ship, and hopefully, synthetic behind.

The hain platform, having moved further away from the edge of the cliff and lay flat, stood up and observed the cautious young cerinian make a hasty retreat in the estimated direction of the gunshot.

The swarm intelligence considered the new audio information with a logical perspective, despite any theories the many programs developed, it simply did not have any information on hand that would explain anything beyond what the vixen might have come up with.

It was simple, it needed to investigate and despite the vixen's apparent VIP status among the hain's network, she was the perfect specimen for contact with this unknown. A calculated risk.
With that, the hain holstered it's sniper and began following the cerinian at a healthy distance.

She removed her jacket carefully and then checked the interior pockets. Muryin also listened with intent to his question and readily answered. "Yes, there are two others but they are from different wrecks. I was alone when I crashed. I met one of them after escaping that awful beast. The other one you shot at, she is quite terrified and hurt I am afraid. When we are done here, may I please attend to her wounds? And you are welcome to anything you find in my shuttle, tools, tech, anything."

She blushed at his words and slightly turned her face away while still facing him with her hands up. "Please, Mr. Andrej," she pleaded, "we have all been through alot and likely stranded on this planet for the foreseeable future. I must stress to you that we all need to trust each other and not just for your personal comfort. We are all victims here, I hope you can understand that. But if not, well...you may as well shoot me now, though spending a bullet on me would prove to be wasteful."

Loran had been at the entrance to the shuttle for quite some time, slightly worried that if she opened the hatch, the stranger would have taken a reactive shot, wounding or ending a life there and then, hers or Muryin's... She decided to have some bravery, in lieu of risk...

She quietly pecked at the door with her right index finger, knocking softly with it as to gradually alert the stranger to not shoot right away, speaking in the same soft tone, her child-like vocals doing work.

"Um...H-Hello, Mr. Person? I don't wanna alarm ya, but are you and Muryin alright in there...?"

Muryin replied sharply, "Loran, please stay back!" There was a fear in her eyes, but she was not frightened for herself. She returned to Andrej with pleading eyes. "Mr. Andrej, please do not hurt them. Do anything you want to me, just do not hurt or threaten them."

Hearing her words made Andrej flinch – he clearly didn't want to come off as a ruthless criminal who didn't care for the lives of others, but that incident back forced him to act like one, as he knows too well what some people were capable of when their survival was at stake. And another thing the pirates taught him, was that most situations they faced boiled down to “You or them”.
Still not wanting to risk an ambush, Andrej tried his hardest to keep the assault rifle aimed at her, his hands shaking, since he was struggling in keeping up his act, but his fear of an unpleasant death put up a bitter resistance. The woman's words afterwards pierced through his probably already rotting heart and mind; it's only right that they need to trust each other, and he really wanted as well... only to be interrupted by the memories of his officer.

Don't do this, you know how that turned out”, he warned Andrej and gave his arms new power to hold the gun, “She clearly will shoot you in the back later, because let's be honest: Why should anybody trust a pirate? The whole universe is at war with us, and only we are your family now. If you are stupid enough to work with that girl, then at least be a good soldier and follow the kapitan's order to leave no witnesses afterwards. But if it were me, I would just shoot her now. Your gear is more than enough to be completely independent of others.”
I... I...” Andrej desperately searched for the right words, his voice trembling... and then suddenly raged at the medic. “No! You have no idea what I was forced to go through, just because I trusted a stranger! Now get your items and go outside, before I...”

But then, another voice from outside got into his ears. It immediately stopped his confused rage and cleared his thoughts from the memories, sweeping away the officer's words. Was that a child? The only thing, next to his new friends and hopes to meet his wife again someday, which kept him from losing his mind from all the madness in this universe?
You have a child with you?”, Andrej asked calmly, lowering his gun slowly as it somehow put on a lot more weight.

"No, no she is just as terrified as I am. Please, I will do anything you ask. But I must attend to the other one and her wounds. Will you allow me that?"

Screaming across the atmosphere, a single seated colonial dogfighter was burning due to the friction in the thin air. The hull was covered in flames while the cockpit became tropic with extreme temperatures. But the pilot didn't complain, he never felt it for he was no run-of-the-mill grunt. He was akin to fire, a demon who looked the part though he appeared human with only a few differences. His platinum sliver hair slicked back as his blood red shined in the light. The planet ahead might as well have been Hell and what was Hell where the devil was concerned?

As the ground was fast approaching, he let out an unholy roar of delight as the rush of possible death flowed over him. He then blew the bolts off the cockpit canopy and activated his parachute as the doomed craft plummeted into the forest jungle below. As soon as he touched the ground he marched to the wreck with a determined pace and withdrew his prized possession. He examined the long, heavy broadsword tempered in the purest of steel, it was in damaged and hoisted it upon his back via charred leather sheath that contained the cruel blade. Suited and ready, the sword wielding figured sprinted into the forest wearing a black tank top, green cargo pants and combat boot.

Loran kept tapping at the hatch, losing a majority of her worry at their voices. Voices were better than gunfire and screams, she knew that much. Following Muyrin's orders, she backed away from the hatch a few moments later, simply wanting the two to exit the shuttle, seeing Muyrin safe, no matter the action the stranger took.

She never told Muryin her age, but for her race, it was extremely rare to be 4'0'', 50 pounds, both within the age of 25...She smiled, a mask between sadness and the fear that came when a comrade was facing death in the face, her own father had that rumor about him, being shot down in the news that day long ago.

Loran sat in the open, feet away from the shuttle, wondering if she was able to take any action if the hatch remained closed...

Lost in thought, Andrej didn't register her words at first. Even if it wasn't a child, it clearly was young and the old officer didn't want to expose the individual to the pirate's inhuman nature. He already was responsible for teaching the children on their homeworld to become loyal, almost fanatical soldiers one day – a fate, he didn't want to share with innocent people outside of their affairs. At least he could still show them how to be nice, lovable persons, but sooner or later, everyone turned into fighters, willing to die for the kapitan's dark goals.

But now, being unmonitored and safe from the machine's wrath, he decided to take a stand against his orders.

Enough of this madness.”
The black assault rifle hanging down from his hand, he let it fall down and took his helmet off to show, that he wasn't just a heart- and soulless “machine”, ready to murder everything that might be a threat.
Finally, looking into her eyes, he gave a forced smile.

I surrender.”

Slowly she put her hands down and drew a sigh of relief. Muryin smiled as she extended her hand in friendship. What kind of life had he known? It pained her to see people suffer and it was plain to see the agony in his eyes.

"Mr. Andrej, my name is Muryin Zacca, Corporal 1st class of the UCA medical corps. Do not surrender yet sir, I fear our fight for survival has yet to begin."

Just then there was a sharp crackling and explosion, as if something was flying at mach speeds and crashed into the moist ground. Muryin jumped as she heard it. "That sounded like an Mōkin..."

The leopard's ears shot up as she heard a crash.  Her head darted in the direction of it as she scanned to see where it might have come from.  Not able to see anything, she tentatively made her way through the bushes to where Loran was.  "Is everything okay over there?" She asked hesitantly, emerging fully from the bushes as she tried to make out anyone else nearby.  Where was the other person?  Did she go into the shuttle?  Where was the scary assault rifle man?

Loran looked to the sky as Amai approached, her sorrow turning to outright joy, not in the crash itself, but in her admiration of the downing plane in general. As her face lit up like the sun narrowing itself down to greet the night ahead, she looked to Amai and spoke, gaining the sorrow back in deficit.

"Those two are still in the shuttle...I don't know what exactly is going on in there anymore...No gunfire, though..."

"Please eat, Mr. Andrej," she said while handing him the cache of food. "I will be outside if you need me, sir."

Muryin exited the downed shuttle after recollecting her things and jacket and found Loran sitting outside. "Hi Loran, it is all fine now. Mr. Andrej was just as scared as we were. He is eating right now, you can have some too if you like." The medics attention then went back to the leopard and knelt down to examine her injury. "It is in need redressing. May I?"

The Mōkin pilot slowed his pace as he happened upon a set of tracks. They were fresh and they were big, possibly a carnivore in a hurry leading to the west. He didn't pay much mind to that as he did the trail of blood and decided to follow it to its source. It wasn't a game trail and he knew that for a certainty. Regardless of it was a good decision or not he pressed forward into the brush toward the unknown.

When she was significantly distanced from the wreck and kill zone of the waterfall, Shepherd allowed herself a brief respite from all of her running, it wouldn't do her any good to collapse from exhaustion deep in these forests(?). Slowing up her pace to a walk, the cerinian began to look over her equipment, taking stock of everything she had left after the day's fight.

"Three blaster clips..." She mumbled, making a mental estimation of how long they'd last on the lowest consumption setting. One grenade, four vials of construction gel, a slightly used spool of metal wire and her medical kit was still unused. And of course, her trusty photon-dagger.

With a sigh, she realized everything else, rations and canteen was still stuck in her wreck. Still her PDS was still usable, if drained, what power left she could reroute to other functions of the bodysuit she wore under her clothes.

Her hand drifted to the control switch under her flight suit, but hesitated. The idea of removing the safety of shielding made her feel a little vulnerable, though a moment's rationalization was all it took to actually go through with switching off her shields and activating her suit's anti-personnel sensor.

"Being shot isn't as bad as being eaten," Shepherd reasoned, the barrier fizzling out of existence, with the suit's sensors beginning  detect the nearby wildlife around her. "I guess."

With the "anti-personnel sensor" not being an exact science, the vixen would have to make educated guesses as to which biological detection belonged to the creature who had fired off a round. Unfortunately, since hain did not have heart beats, Shepherd was clueless of the distant follower prowling behind her.

She held out her arm, giving Muryin back her medkit and weapon.  "Sure" The leopard said as she bit her lip just slightly.  She winced as she started to undo the dirty dressing she had applied hours before, the scrape being revealed moments later as the wrap came undone.  It was a relatively deep gash, but thanks to Amai's quick action, it didn't seem to be infected or dirty at all.

"That's at least great!" Loran's sadness had gone just as quickly as it had arrived, taking it upon herself to ignore the fact that the stranger remain in the shuttle, weapon lowered, taking a small ration of food and walking towards the very stranger himself as she ate it. She drew close, but not close enough to touch the man.

"Uh...Hiya! Oh, you look pretty neat without the helmet, if I can say that..."

Muryin removed the bandage carefully. "Oh you poor thing. I am going to apply an disinfectant. It will feel cold at first." After doing so, she wraps it with a fresh gauze and fitted her arm with a sling. "Try not to move it as much. If you feel an numbness do not worry, it's the medicine. Now, eat something...what was your name?"

( to Sylono )

As he walked through the forest, he spotted someone counting their ammo and dove back behind a tree. He waited for whomever it was to leave and pressed his muscular back against the large redwood.

She gave a nod at the woman, "Thank you, ma'am" She said nodding.  "My name's Amai." The leopard told her.  She rested her right hand on the gauze on her arm, biting her lip.  "Is everything okay up there?" She asked, indicating the man who didn't yet leave the shuttle.

After Muryin left the shuttle, Andrej took a deep breath. He was glad that she didn't attack him immediately, so maybe he finally hadn't to travel alone across this planet.
Nice job.” His superior appeared in his memories again and sarcastically congratulated him. “Let's see how long it takes her to figure out and kill you, hm? Remember, I'm not around this time to save your sorry butt just because you are a sissy. And don't even dare to whine when your body is full of bullet holes or worse...”

Dismissing those thoughts, Andrej picked up the cache of food and examined it with glee, then digging in. How long ago was the last time he ate something different?
But nevertheless, the idea to dispose of the group refused to get out of his mind...

Shortly afterwards the child-like voice sounded again and Andrej looked up to see... a walking teddy bear in white? He didn't want to believe first what he saw, but the too natural movements indicated a true living being. Was that the child that snapped him out of his confusion?
Andrej then knelt down with a friendly smile and said, “Thanks, young lady! May I know your name, please?”

"Name's Loran, Loran Macrine. Airbear to friends!"

Loran took to eating another nibble of her food ration as she proceded to sit on the shuttle floor, eyeing the stranger's face while easing her neck of the burden, speaking.

"How about you, Mr. Person?" The way Loran spoke to the man, even after his hostility, seemed to give a sense of innocence and potential, driven past her fears.

Muryin turns to the others, "Did anyone hear that last explosion? Do you think it was another wreck? It is too for the colonial rescue party. Oh, I should have mentioned that I relayed an SOS to the medical cruiser. I hope they got my mayday."

She tried her best to hide her worries with an innocent smile.

Now acutely aware of the wildlife around her, Shepherd began trudging forward. Though after a few steps, one signal stood at a closer distance than she was comfortable having it, almost by instinct, her hand hovered over and clutched the harder hitting of her two firearms.

Realizing she might have given away that she was aware of this potential predator's existence, the cerinian spun around with the weapon drawn. For a second she debated attempting scaring it off with a shot in the air, but ultimately decided against it. Blasters didn't quite have the noise to accompany it's firepower.

"Hey!" The vixen called out instead, her voice as loud and rough as she could muster.

//That was at your fella, Snes.//
